1. My seven year old son was amazed at the miller on the back porch. Dad he said, come take some pictures. One of God's amazing creatures. Their protection from being eaten. Thought I would share with you all. I touched the screen on the window and this is what you see. Fuzzy

3. Here's one to keep you busy when not shoveling snow off the front porch. http://www.versuscountrybagamonsterbuck.com/
4. Hamburgers will never ever be the same again!!! :dancefool: Thanks to Etcswjoe and his wife, Bobbi, we learned of a great hamburger place right here in Columbia, just a few blocks from where I work! Pawley's Porch was featured in Diners Drive In's and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri. Joe and Bobbi rode up from Charleston, Painterman and Shadow Queen rode down from North Carolina and Chuck who works with George joined us for the feasting! The fried pickles and calamri appetizers were outstanding and then the burgers arrived! Yum, yum! We are back at the house, waiting to sample some of the blueberry peach cobbler I made! Here are pictures! More to come later! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawk%20Mechanics%20August%2021%20Pawleys%20Porch/
5. Saturday at MD this year, I was talking to a very nice person named Shirley. We were sitting on the back deck of Freebird's house with her husband at lunch time. I also spoke to her when I was on the front porch. We were talking about the need for more T Shirts that fit women, like the Lady VentureRider shirts we had made up several years ago. Lonnie was on the front porch at the time too. I really enjoyed talking to her, but I have one big problem. I do not remember her husband's name or where they even live. Could someone please help me? I feel horrible that I do not remember. Please help if you can! Yama Mama:hurts:
6. Peaks and Valleys ….. We got new windows installed (living room bay ---beauty, kitchen and dining room and one in the laundry room) and front and back doors. Happy has hell with the results, finished Tuesday at 4pm. Look great!! PEAK!! The guy doing the front door shows me a small sinkhole in the front porch… I’m like WTF, upon discovery it is the water main leaking upon entry to the Chateau. Have to rip up the porch and lawn to replace 40 yr old line. Seems like every second house has this problem lately. Get about a $G quote from local guy, IF I do the repair to the porch, He’ll pack the gravel and screening and thinks he can come under the retaining wall. So he digs, replaces line and repacks for a grand!! VALLEY!!! I figure screw this…. Insurance! I can hear the water running under there plain as day, what is it doing? … in case there is more damage. First we start out with “sorry sir not covered BS” but I talk to supervisor and quote section & paragraph of policy (35a)…. They send out contractor. They WILL cover excavating and refill, porch repair but NOT pipe replacement. Of course minus my $400 deductible. Contractor guy was from Paris, had a little chat about motorcycles and Paris cafes (we’re buds) then he tells me he is going to send them in a quote of about …. Hold on …. $4000 - $5000. So if I can get the local guy to make up a estimate of what he would charge for doing the porch repair too, send that in and hopefully I at least get my $$ back from these criminals …. Not covered ????…. Hello, sinkhole here!! Cant quite call it a PEAK …. But we are looking uphill!! Did you feel this earthquake? I was siting on the front porch and didn’t feel a thing!! Thank god I called the Ins company in the morning …. Ya just know those parasites woulda claimed “earthquake damage not covered”. Yesterday had the big digger here ripping up the palatial lawns, got the new line in and repacked the lawn and porch was filled with screening and then power tamped. They left by 2:30, spent until supper but managed to get the part of the porch they had dug up and the walkway repaired. So back to PEAK!!! Gonna get the estimate from the guy same time I get the bill on Monday, he knows the situation with the insurance co., so here’s hoping he makes it a juicy one!! Here’s a few pics of the window work and then the trench destruction. Chief Grey Cloud and Princess Pity Me …
7. Well last night I decided I wanted an electric fireplace. I don't have a heating system anymore here and it's been getting rough with the little electric ones I have at night. So I bought it and I'd have to pick it up in Suffolk at the Lowes. That was the closest one that still had any. So I leave after chatting with the muffinman and head up. Get the thing in the truck (took 3 guys to pick it up and put it in). Now I'm thinking wow I'm alone how am I gonna get this thing out of the truck. Being constructive I figured I get to that when I got home. So I get home pull the truck up to the porch and shove the box out of the bed onto the porch. So far so good. Now how do I get it in the house? Well I tried a few things and realized I wasn't getting the box in the house. I had even thought of hooking the dog up to it. Only problem would be getting it up off the porch into the door. Also the box was looking a bit wide to go through the door. So I decided go ahead and open the thing outside and get the parts in. Have you ever seen those industrial staples they use on these boxes. There's a line two each all the way across. Finally I get it open sort of then I got all this tape to get through. Once it's open it's way easier to get the parts out. There a bit heavy but way lighter then together in that box. Oh yeah the weight was about 104 I weigh just a little more then that. So now I got all these parts in the house to put together. I'll let you know how that goes. I'm thinking it's gotta be easier then getting it in the house was. Oh the fireplace is pretty big too. It's 42" high, 48.3" wide, and 14.5" deep. Now I gotta figure out where to put this thing. Guess I'll worry about that after I get it together. Margaret
8. Gunboat - I just got back from my opthomologist, I thought my problem seeing was due to to 3 year old glasses - Turns out it is due to 66 year old eyes. I have a cataract in my right eye that needs to be removed and replaced with one of those new things. He explained it all but the point is I have surgery on the 20th and then follow up visits and eye drops for 3 weeks. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to map that out. There'll be no Arkansas nor Grand Canyon til the end of August or most likely the first week or so of September. BTW - guess what was on my side porch when I got home ??
9. looking for suitable knapping material, such as obsidian, chert rocks. taking up a new hobby. can't get any further away from mamma, than the front porch, so i need something to keep my hands busy! just jt:farmer:
10. Going to work at hospital last night and made wrong turn. Cut thru a alley and there sitting on a back porch was a 1st gen. House looks empty so I took a closer look. It is a 83-85 The side covers are gone and the bags are gone. Tags are 96. Tank is full of rust the worst I have ever seen. It is a light blue (Orion Silver?) and a dark blue. Darker than my 84 was. Covered porch so there might be some parts there. Only 22k on it. Good Engine? If not stuck. Plastic may be stored inside??? Got to go back and find somebody.
11. If Santa was Redneck He’d prob’ly still be kind Though putting children on his knee Would not be wise of mind If Santa was Redneck His way of spreading cheer Wouldn’t be with gifts by sleigh But by Chevy full of beer If Santa was Redneck The chimney he’d forego And leave the beer out on the porch Where the frigerator goes If Santa was Redneck No cookies would we leave Just a can of Copenhagen He could roll up in his sleeve If Santa was Redneck We’d know it when he came The belching, scratching, passing gas There’d be no one else to blame If Santa was Redneck Christmas day would be a blast We’d all sit out upon the porch And pass around the Pabst :rotfl::rotfl:
