just a quicknote to any who tried this and got upset. I did the repair as per Carl's instruction and it worked. But At first I thought it didnt. I thought I would be smart and check it before I reinstalled the whole setup with my cordlessdrill. Well lets just say it doesnt work like that. The odometer was working but not the speedo. So as not knowing what else to do I buttond everyhting back up and figure I'd get up with better minds later. Took the old girl out for a quick spin and the speedo worked. guess the cordless drill just didnt have enough rpm's to get the speedo past the 5 mph start. Tahnk you Carl as without your explanation of how to do this I mught not have tried it myself. DAvid

IM a 1st genner myself so not sure but isnt there a dyna 3000 tci/cdi box out there? That would let you raise the rpm a bit before you hit the rev limiter. David -

The odometer and the trip odometer are functioning so Im assuming its not the cable. Just not reading how fast Im going. Had to drive home using the tach to gestimate how fast I was going. Nay help will be appreciated. David

how I was tought and it seems to work great. Put the tie downs on the front over the bottom part of the triple tree( the black part under the fairing). Compress the front forks. Then put the rear tie downs onto the saddle bags rails with the hook over the part to where it want slip and compress the rear suspention. Put bike in neutral as Ive heard that trailering can destroy the tranny. Not sure if it will but its what Ive been told and works for me so who knows. I use the heavy duty ratchet straps and have towed it several times with no problems. Hope this helps. Oh yeah forgot to add and as youve towed a bike before its probably old info for you but make sure one set of straps is pulling back and one set is pulling forward so the bike want move . and I stop every 100 miles or so to recheck every thing. Good luck David

start with the simple things. My 91 Vr was the same when I first got it. Turned out it was a little under inflated for me. I ended up running the max cold air pressure on the side wall Unfortunately a bit of wind draft is something we end up having to deal with since we have so much in front of us to deflect the wind. Its nice to have but it does create a rather large profile for the wind to catch in. Play with the pressure and find out what suits you. now this is my own opinion and as such will vary from others. The main thing is keep at it till you find what works for you. David

I come here tonight a bit humbled. When my bike blew out the clutch in sept. I was a bit distrout. Was thinking about parting it out.Now its setting in my driveway repaired. Allit needs is a new tire on the rear to get me up and going. This is where the thnk you's come in. All of these are in no particular order. To those who pitched in and made it monetarily possible I am gratefull. I dont know who you are as Aamcotrans (Rob) will not tell me who you are.Rob you started this whole thing and Im gratefull. To( Jeff) muffinman who took the time to help diagnose it and finally talk me into bringing the bike to him so he could fix it, and also finding the parts needed for a 1/3 of the price for new. And to (Earl) skydoc for the constant calls and pm's talking me out of parting the bike. I was ready to do tis to get the money to buy something new. Now I can ride again just need to get a new tire so I can ride further than my own neighberhood. Again many thanks to all who were involved . I dont know who you all are so if I forget someone please dont be upset. I have my ideas who all helped but they didnt want to be brought out into the open. Thanks again This group is the greatest extended family ever David

thats the same pair I have on mine. Just not sure of the name brand. I love them. BUt the orings do seem to move around. Ive been thinking about using a thin layer of clear silicon on the o rings to hold them in place. David -
Just got home from pulling our groups stands. The stands were set up for archery and we are in rifle season now. Lasst time we left them in after rifle season started 5 stands were stolen . Needles to say we dont do that any more. Ive taken 2 already. Small button head and a big bodied 3 pointer. Didnt see anything yesterday but my spot is traditionally a mornig stand and I had to work for 4 hrs first thing in the morning yesterday so didnt get in till 1 oclock. Good luck everybody for the rest of the season. David
