  1. http://www.cyclefish.com/event/9756/ Im thinking about it this weekend. DAvid
  2. In lifes trials we walk thiunking we are the only ones with all these problems. I am one of those peaple anyways. Today I was humbled. My phone rang at 5 pm this afternoon and it was my wife. Weird time for her to call as it was when she was on her way to school. Kneedless to say this is when I was humbled to understand that all these things I thought were so important are really nothing. She was calling to ask me to come and get her as she had just hydroplained in her explorer. Shes not sure how many times she turned around in the road , but it was at least 1 1/2 times before she ended up turning around backwards in traffic at highway speeds. As best I can tell she was on 2 wheels and going over when the concrete barrier put her back on all four and stopped the explorer. As I siad shes safe so all the other worries are now in perspective. Laura has a little bump on her head and a head ache so Ill be watching her tonight for anything weird but she was able to walk away. The officer that arrived on scene stayed with her till I was able to get to her and I was a little over an hour away.Thank you sir as that was nice of you. My deepest thanks goes out to a Mister Steve smith. A good symeritan who not only stopped to check on her but used his personal cell to call me since Laura couldnt find hers. Sir I know you dont know me and probably will never read this but I cant explain what that means to me. Any ways thanks for letting me get this out as it all gains a little perspective as if the truck would have turned over who knows I mught not have the love of my life with me now. David
  3. they do sale the soket at local auto parts stores/ I had to replace the ones on my wifes shadow. It was a simple switch. Just figure out which wire goes where and splice in with butt joints and then heat shrink for protection. Not sur eof parts number but the local stealor here has a replacement socket that is made out of ceramics that they sale along with a brighter bulb. Good luck David
  4. simple test for the comverter would be to take out the o2 sensor that is in front of the converter. If the converter is clogged then it will free up the exhaust and give you back your power. We just had that happen to one of our work vans and thats what the mechanic did to test the converter. DAvid
  5. its always more fun when you drag it out.............at least for you...............HHEHEHEHEHEHEE David

  9. sound like the flaot is stuck opn one or more of the carbs. YOU can flush these without removing the carbs. What I did was took out the screw to the float bowl one at a time and turn the key on( dont hit the start button ) and let the fuel pump flush the bowls. Mine was on the 3rd carb I checked. As it turns out I was told that there re 4 tubes that run from the overflow(one for each carb) to the rear of the bike just above the rear shock. Mine was doing the same thing as yours and would act like it would start then die. had the same fuel on the rear shock too. Hope this helps.Im not a mechanic so I cant get really technical on my expanation but this is what worked for me. DAvid
  10. well you could always send me your social security Number.............hehehehehehhe seriously though I did have more than that just only aloted myself that much as I have found a few in this price range and no more than I would use it I dont see putting more tham $300 into it till I see how I like it. That and I know buddy rich makes a cable for the 1st gens but havent heard the verdict on how peaple like it and if all the things I want will work. My goal is to be able to use the mp3 player on the gps with the capabilty of answering my phone when needed. My moms health is not the best and not being able to know when she calls bothers me. I find myself constantly checking my phone at highway speeds. Not really safe.all this would preferably be able to be used through the bikes intercom system. If that want workthen Ill probably not even buyu a gps. Wright now Im in research fase. Tahnks for the pointers though David
  11. OK I know its been discussed butI cant find specifics. When my taxes come in my wife has gave me permision to get a gps.Limit is in the $300 range. What will be a good gps in this range with bluetooth and mp3 player with an exterior speaker output. I will be getting in touch with buddyrich for a cable hook up that he makes for the 1st gens. This gps will be mostly for the bike but also will pull double duty in the cage when needed. Any ideas will be apreciated. Thanks in advance David
  12. Yammer is wright on the taking the cmu out is easy. I was really scared to dothis on my own but it had to be done and no one is near ne and I'm cheap so no stealor for that. I removed the cmuby taking off the winshield trim and windshield. Then removed the headlight assembly just to make things a little easier for me to see and understand. A few screws and electical connectionslater and the speedo was in my hand. I used gun oil( the compressed type in a can) and lubed lightly and reinstalled. Little tip. Dont put a electric drill on the speedo cable and expect to see the speedo move. All I was able to do was make the trip meter and mileage meter move forward. evedently the drill is not fast enough to get the speedo moving. good luck and if oyu need any help post up and we will help as we can.remember if I can do anybody can. David

  18. I thought I would post this up. On May 1st I will be atending a charity ride for the pediatric brain tumor foundation. It got started in my area after one of the local morning radio djs found out he had a brain tumor. After he had surgery and is now in remision he decided to give back and started putting together a ride for this group. Anyways there are several ways to help and in my opinion a worthy cause. If youd like to ride or help you can contact me or the site itself. http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/events/2011/triangle.html let me know and please dont think its for me aas I get nothing out of this except a feeling that Ive helped out in some way. They said it had close to 700 bikes last year . It sounds like a blast to me David

  21. Hey condor, MIne does not have a rocker set. I was asked to remove and I did. Out of respect fro a previous thread where freebird asked no 1% club names I will not say who it was. I removed my vest imediately . It just wasnt worth it.One of me and my wife and at least 30 of them. When the respect was given I was then asked to belly up to the bar and they bought drinks for me and my wife. and we partied with them. I was asked to pledge their group also as I went to school with one of the prominent members to which I respectfully turned down. Now whenever I am around I am allowed to if i want where my vest as long as I dont put rokers on it. I have no intention to do so. Not nbecause of then just dont have the desire to do so. So yes at least one of us has been asked to remove a vest David
  22. had this problem myself .Mine turned out that I needed to reroute the intercom wire. I was getting a cross feed off the plug wire where the wire was near the plug wire in route to the amp. DAvid
  23. Ok after the M&E saturday everyone else headed out for a ride and Laura and I set out for the Biltmore. We stayed there about 4 hrs and never went inside. Laura is studying to get her sertificate in photgraphy and part of this semesters classes is in drawing...Yeah I dont know either but she does so all is well. Anyways she chose the biltmore as her final project in the drawing class . She had to take pics of the biltmore and do drawings of the 3 she picked so she went a litle crazy. This is most of what she took. http://s569.photobucket.com/albums/ss133/painterman6709/Biltmore%20estates/ Hope you enjoy as much as I did. I seen a lot of things I never noticed before there through her eyes in the camera. later David
