no problem as long as the bike is in good shape. I took my 91 vr to MD last year and that was a 3500 round trip with all the detours on the way there and back. My wife also rode her 97 1100 vtx wright along beside me the whole way. I also pulled my trailer full the whole way. David

as already stated use the rear brake as a drag. It will keep yopu slow enough to stay in your comfort zone. By slipping the clutch the motors push ( cant remember the name of this cyntrifical force I think) will keep the bike upwright and straight. With a little practice it becomes second nature. Go to a church or school parking lot and practice practice practice. It took me a while but it does work. this message also work for uturns and short radius turn around. Hope this helps. David

Moving TCI to airbox
painterman67 replied to PEIslander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
not recomending it to everyone but it worked for me. With the airbox out I laid a fw new unused paint rags over the carbs and used an adjustable angle shorty saw like plumbers use to cut of carriere bolts on the toilet. I put mirror on top of the rags and used it to line up the saw and then just cut the ears off the tci. It fell out in my hands and then rerouted the wires to the top of the airbox. David -

OK now I feel your pain. Im rather shoret and ride a 91 so I understand how tall they feel. Laid mine over a time or 2 because of it. The best advice I can give you is to ride it. It took me 3 or 4 months to get used to the feel of not flat footing my old girl. As result I now will put me and my wife on the bike and ride with out a hestiation. Another suggestion is to get on the bike with him. When my wife is on the bike with me I can actually faltffot the old girl if I drop the air in the rear. Practice , practice , practice is the best theory. As I siad earlier I wouldnt put my wife on back of mine till I got comfy with it solo. Im 250 poends and I want tell the wifes weight as she has her own acount here and might read it but together we weigh a little over 450. When we are both on the bike I can flat foot the bike. I set the front to low medium and the rear to high with the shock propotioning valvr( its just beside my left foot)at 3 with us both on it. If solo I set the valve at 2 and rear at medium with fromt at low. Hope this helps as it took quite a while for us to figure oout what worked for us. David

glad your ok........the bike can be repaired................had the same thing happen to me except it was my wif eon her bike in front of me. We were on a ride when she first started riding and everyone started acting stupid at the first stop and she freak, hit her brakes and stopped. Lets just say an 1100 shadow spirit stops a lot easier than a venture in gravel. I had to either hit her or ditch it. Like I said good choice and glad to hear you both walked away from this incident. painterman67 replied to painterman67's topic in Watering Hole
yeah thats what Im debating. Only reason I thought of the other is the whole bikers against child abuse. Benn wanting to join that group for a while but they just as of recently created a NC chapter.Im thinking of heading there to get some more info on this group. ANd the saint judes tie in doesnt hurt either. But after I posted I checked the weather and as Joe has already said it doesnt look good. Either way if I dont make it you guys have fun. David
