  1. Are any of the Houston members planning to ride motorcycle escort for Wreaths Across America (Houston Link). It is next weekend, 12/10. SCHEDULE 6:00am Staging Begins at Wal-Mart Porter 7:00am Safety Briefing 7:15am KSU 8:00am-8:15am Arrive at Houston National Cemetery I've ridden this the last couple years and am planning to make it this year too. Here's a video from last year. I'm the guy about 2/3 of the way through in the right channel. 2. Heading up to New Brunswick when we saw this making a U-turn in the middle of the highway while all traffic was ordered to stop (police escort). I took this while we were doing 60 miles an hour and with my phone but still - kinda neat, huh? http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/580857270XyGoRN?vhost=outdoors
  3. Well, we just got back home after a week on the road to attend the America's 911 Foundation 10th anniversary ride. http://www.americas911ride.org/ What an awesome experience. Almost 2000 bikes on a fully escorted group ride from Summerset Pa. to Arlington Va. and New York NY. People lining the streets and overpasses in all the little and big towns we passed through, all along the route. A group of ten of us left from Burlington Ontario last Thursday and returned today. This included three Peel Region (Toronto area) Motor Cops who helped with the escort. They came in handy a couple of times for us on the way down and back as well. I'm so happy we were able to do this ride but for various reasons, I won't get into, I will not do it again.
  4. Unfortunately, this motorcycle escort was killed here in town. Here is the link:http://www.local12.com/news/local/story/Funeral-Motorcycle-Escort-Dies-After-Collision/N130V-RVtkydN3gEGvXA4w.cspx Yama Mama
  5. Tomorrow SFC Donnie Shue comes home 043011. MIA for 42 years. I'm riding the escort, my heart and my tears to a fallen brother. May God rest his soul and give him peace. For those in the Charlotte area search the internet for details of the escort if you choose to ride
  6. http://www.wgem.com/category/176396/-wgem-honor-flight SCROLL DOWN THE LINK..... their are 6 videos. Video 2 shows a short clip of the escort. Take the time and watch all 6, you will never be the same. I rode in one of the escorts. You have to watch these videos. It is such an honor to escort this bus from St Louis NON-STOP to Quincy Il. Missouri Highway patrol, Illinois Highway patrol, and every local law enforcement and or fire department blocks, and or escorts through every stop light, stop sign, or anything that could interrupt this bus. It literally never stops. Every overpass has bikes lined up and getting into the formation to do their part. If anyone ever gets a chance to ride this escort, please do. Come this way from St Louis area and you are welcome to stay at my place for the night to keep from traveling back in the dark. THIS SUMS UP THE ESCORT BACK http://www.wgem.com/global/video/flash/popupplayer.asp?ClipID1=5194647&h1=WEB%20EXTRA%3A%20WWII%20vets%20return%20back%20to%20Quincy%20%28Honor%20Flight%20IV%29&vt1=v&at1=News&d1=895567&LaunchPageAdTag=Food Recipe&activePane=info&rnd=99411461
  7. If you're in the Tulsa, OK area tomorrow there is a motorcycle escort for the Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall starting at TU tomorrow morning and going to Normal, Oklahoma. You can find the information at the Transportation Union Workers website listed below. http://twu514.org/blog/2010/06/16/come-join-the-twu-veterans-committee-and-give-your-support-for-the-salute/
  8. This was an email from the Washington State PGR. Just incase someone here in Washington didn't get the info: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard We have been invited to ride with the Brothers-in-arms and our own Former State Captain, Cowboy, to the Wall escort. The date will be July 8th 2009 Staging Area McDonald's @ the end of the 512 in Tacoma (near Eagle Leather) 10417 S Tacoma Way Tacoma, WA 98499-4648 9:30am Staging 10:00am KSU to head north The Brothers-in-Arms will be stopping @ Exit 202 for re-fueling and then proceeding to Smokey Point Rest Area (northbound I-5) to group up for the Escort. (Estimated KSU 1pm) A few things I want to go over since Neither Cullen nor I can attend. 1)While this is not a PGR mission we hope everyone will act in the high standards the PGR represents. 2)The PGR is not a MC (Motorcycle Club) but several other riders will be. Usually, MC’s ride tandem (side-by-side) because the ride next to the same guy over and over. 3)We don’t ride tandem, the PGR rides staggered. It is safer for a group of people who do not ride next to the same guy every time 4)Have fun. Respectfully, Conan PS: while this is not a PGR mission, we are finalizing an official PGR mission for a Flag Line at the opening ceremonies on Friday 7/10/09
  9. Had a busy day yesterday.RC'd a PGR Mission which took the 1st half of the day. Then spent the better part of the afternoon organizing Riders for a Moving Wall Escort which began at 6:30PM. 2000 Vet riders participated in the Wall Escort. The City Mayor decided that NO bikers would be allowed to ride/park near the set-up location for the Wall. Guess he didn't want his chest-thumping speech about patriotism and loving Nam Vets to be disturbed by the sound of MC pipes. Local VFW Post has been crowing for weeks that all Escort Riders would be treated to a free meal after the Escort Ride was completed. When the Riders showed up at the Post there was nothing to eat except Bar snacks which were not free. The Post took the time to set up 3 portable Bars w/cash registers,Coolers. After 2 solid hours they finally got the grills fired up for hot dogs. By then most of the Riders had dropped a few dollars into the cash tills and were leaving to go eat elsewhere. Of the 800 Riders who initially rode to the VFW Post only 30 remained to chow down on the hot dogs served up. This morning I got reports that 3 Riders were involved in accidents on their scoots after leaving the VFW Post......before the food was served. I know the VFW Post made a killing with their Bar.....I just can't accept WHY they held off serving food in order to increase their Bar sales. Boomer.....who will always ride Escort for the Wall but won't drive into a VFW Post ever again.
  10. I got the sad news today that my uncle passed away today and would like to get some contact info for the state ride captain. My uncle was a POW in Korea he worked the orchards in California most of my life and I know that he would appreciate the escort. Jeff
  11. Anybody doing the motorcycle Escort for these folks when they roll through your area on the way to Arlington National Cemetery? They will be coming through my State and to date we have a well planned 3 day Escort set up for them. You do not have to be a member of the Patriot Guard in order to join in the Escort. http://www.wreaths-across-america.org/ Regards.....Boomer
