Yea, well if there are any pygmies here, I KNOW who to blame. I don't think you LEFT maintenance day last year with all that you BROUGHT. In regards to cable, it is not available at my house. The DSL is about the only choice. It's been really good though and I'm sure they will find the problem if they didn't already. My only other choice is a wireless system that I did have for a few years before DSL became available. It worked fine as long as the weather was good but would be down for a day or two at a time during heavy snow and/or ice accumulation.

I don't think so. I've not run the E3 yet but found the Avon and the Michelin to perform very well on all kinds of road surfaces. I think the Michelin gives a bit more mileage but mine did whine a little in long sweeping curves. Except for that bit of noise, I think I actually preferred it over the Avon. I may try the E3 next.

The only time I have ridden that area was during bike week. I tell you, it was an experience. I would love to go back and ride it when things are less crowded but I also very much enjoyed it during the time I was there. Anybody who rides a motorcycle should try to make bike week at least once during their life.

Yea, I know what you mean. The phone filters was the first thing they wanted to talk about...they were sort of at a loss after I explained to them that I have no hard wired phones and a dedicated line from the box to my DSL modem with NO other outlets connected to it.

I agree with you about the accessories. I've always envied the Harley riders for all the goodies they have to choose from. If we had 10% of what they had it would be great.

I don't know. I've re-enabled the sigs for now. We'll see if it seems to make any difference.

OK...it all started sometime on Friday afternoon. I got home from seeing some customers to find that my Internet was down. My son said that it had been down since around noon. Now I've had this DSL for a couple of years and it has been very stable, I don't think it has EVER been down and if so, for just a few minutes. So, I called Frontier to report the problem. Was almost through all the voice menus and crap when suddenly, it started working again. So I hung up and figured it was a glitch that they had already found. About 20 minutes later, it was off again. I waited for about an hour and called again. This time I finally got through to a tech and he did some checking on my line and etc. He then said that when he entered by account number, he got a pop-up telling him that Frontier was doing service upgrades to the system in my area and that is why it was down. I said OK...well...it would have been nice to receive some advanced notice but anyway, what is the ETA on having it up again. He said..."well...according to my screen...it should be back up by mid April". Now at this point, I was fairly sure that this guy had swam too long in the shallow end of the gene pool so I specifically asked him..."are you telling me that I'm not going to have any Internet service until April and that nobody would feel that it was necessary to let me know this". He said..."yes sir, that is correct". At that point, I nicely asked to speak to his supervisor. A few more minutes of waiting and his supervisor was on the line. She was a very nice lady and asked me what the problem was. I told her what had been said so far and she laughed and said..."I don't blame you for asking to speak to somebody else". She said that yes, there were service upgrades taking place and over the next couple of months there may be brief periods of slowness or very short down times but I would NOT be without Internet for any significant amounts of time. She did more tests and determined that there was indeed a problem with my line somewhere. She submitted a ticket and promised me that somebody would be out yesterday. Now according to my son, the service came back on later Friday evening and it was working fine when I got up on Saturday morning. Around 8:30 a.m. though, a Frontier service tech showed up. I told him that it was working fine right now but he said he would check it anyway. He told me that my service would be off for a few minutes while he checked the lines. He did some tests and told me that there was a problem somewhere with my line and he was going to put a toner on my line and go down the road to find the problem. He showed back up around 2:00 yesterday and said that he had determined that the line was bad down the road and was submitting a ticket to get the cable crew out here. I asked how long that would take and he had no idea but hopefully within a few days. WHAT? I said you know, my service was working fine when you showed up but hasn't worked since then and is still down. So...he said that he would see what he could do, maybe find another pair of wires to use. About an hour later he showed up again and said that all was working fine now. Maybe, but I still had no service. Just a blinking light on the modem showing it trying to connect. He said that didn't make sense because I had full signal at the box on my house. He checked inside the house at the jack where my modem was plugged in and it showed full signal also. He said he was going to make some calls and try to find out what it could be and he left again. He never showed up again and I never heard back from anybody but about an hour after he left, it started working again. So......I have no idea what was wrong. I don't know if there really was a bad cable. I don't know why it was working even when it was showing full signal. I don't know much of anything except that some of these people don't seem to know much about the jobs they are supposed to be doing.

It has the bags of the newer Royal Star Tour Deluxes and the RSV. It does not have the front lowers however. Looks like it is a mixture of aftermarket trunk and fairing, newer Yamaha RSV or RSTD bags.......

Yea yea yea....and where are the pictures of the one you've been working on?

Oh yea....like I would EVER Talk Eileen into doing that. NONONONONO

Not sure that I would like them but it looks like they should work pretty well. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/tucano-urbano-handlebar-muffs/

I have temporarily disabled all signatures at the bottom of our posts. This is an effort to determine whether or not all the weather banners and other external links in signatures are causing any problems with server speed. The signatures have not been deleted and when I enable them again, they will be as you had them.

The problem is, those valve caps work by pressing the valve stems so that the pressure IS actually held in my the caps. That's why I just don't like them. I have some laying around here somewhere but just won't use them. They can't read the pressure if they don't press on the valve stem so that the cap can pressurize.

Well, it seems better than it has been in the mornings but a little sluggish compared to where it was during the day yesterday though. But other sites seem a bit slow this morning also so it could be my connection. heck...it only took about 5 seconds for this one to post so maybe it's not too bad.

I'm not saying that your wrong at all. I'm simply saying that we all have different things that float our boats. MANY of the accessories on my RSV were bought used off Ebay.

We'll be thinking of you. I had it done to my right eye a few months ago. I can't tell you how bad it was though because they did a LOT of other things also. The cataract lens was only done because they said that the other things they were doing would cause it to be necessary in the near future. Overall though, I don't think it was bad.

I didn't say that they are a waste of money. That is up to each individual. Some love the sound and/or looks of the aftermarket exhaust. The K&Ns are likely cheaper in the long run that buying replacement OEM filters. I would never tell anybody that spending money for something that THEY like is a waste of money. You've remarked on more than one occasion that buying high end (Bushtec, Hannigan, etc.) trailers are a waste of money but I don't agree. It is up to each individual to determine what kind of expenditures bring them the most joy. No, I'm not saying that any of those things are a waste of money, I'm simply saying that I think they add VERY LITTLE in the way of performance. I've heard people claim that adding a set of pipes and K&Ns added 20 HP to their bikes but I have NEVER seen a Dyno test that proves that. I have seen a Dyno test that clearly showed that the Dyna 3000 added very little expect to extend the power band into the area where the rev limiter would have normally shut you down.

In my opinion, the free flowing filters nor the free flowing exhaust either one or together buy you very much, if anything, in performance. I've heard all the claims but the few dyno tests that I have seen have never supported the claims. I think Yamaha does a pretty decent job on setting these bikes up and there are just no simple bolt on performance mods that make all that much difference. I've got the K&Ns, I've got the Dyna 3000, I've had several kinds of mufflers including Khromewerks and Samson and I don't think that ANY of those things made a difference. You can put the VMAX gears on the shelf if you want to but it's the only thing that I have felt REALLY added any significant performance to my bike. Of course, that is when the Dyna 3000 CAN come in handy because you will be able to hit that stock rev limiter a lot easier with the VMAX gears installed.

Nope, I didn't say that everybody would like it. I also guess it depends upon a person's definition of "performance" but if the definition is quicker acceleration, then the VMAX rear end will do more for it than any of those other things.

-
Neither...in my opinion...the best thing would be the VMAX rear end.

No, I don't think so. You get no benefits, in my opinion, other than the ability to raise the rev limiter. If you never hit the rev limiter, I wouldn't bother. To be honest, the only reason I added it was because I got a great deal on a used one.

Thanks. I won't get my hopes up just yet because it has sped up before and about the time I thought all was good, it slowed down again.

I've disabled several features for now. I'll let it go for a day or so and see if it seems to have helped. If so, then I'll start adding them back one or two at a time and try to figure out if one of them was the culprit. Another possibility is all our signatures. There is a possibility that all the links to the weather banners and etc. could be causing a problem. A lot of us use them but they are served from a third party site so if THEY have problems then it would l likely slow us down also. Same goes for anything in the signatures that are linked to a third party site. Not saying they are the problem, just something else I'll look at if what I have already done doesn't improve things.

The funny thing is, I am posting from Ohio and you posted from Texas. The server is actually in Texas. This one took 3 seconds. I have disabled a few features for testing though.
