  1. I have temporarily disabled all signatures at the bottom of our posts. This is an effort to determine whether or not all the weather banners and other external links in signatures are causing any problems with server speed. The signatures have not been deleted and when I enable them again, they will be as you had them.
  2. The problem is, those valve caps work by pressing the valve stems so that the pressure IS actually held in my the caps. That's why I just don't like them. I have some laying around here somewhere but just won't use them. They can't read the pressure if they don't press on the valve stem so that the cap can pressurize.
  3. Well, it seems better than it has been in the mornings but a little sluggish compared to where it was during the day yesterday though. But other sites seem a bit slow this morning also so it could be my connection. heck...it only took about 5 seconds for this one to post so maybe it's not too bad.
  4. I'm not saying that your wrong at all. I'm simply saying that we all have different things that float our boats. MANY of the accessories on my RSV were bought used off Ebay.
  5. We'll be thinking of you. I had it done to my right eye a few months ago. I can't tell you how bad it was though because they did a LOT of other things also. The cataract lens was only done because they said that the other things they were doing would cause it to be necessary in the near future. Overall though, I don't think it was bad.
  6. I didn't say that they are a waste of money. That is up to each individual. Some love the sound and/or looks of the aftermarket exhaust. The K&Ns are likely cheaper in the long run that buying replacement OEM filters. I would never tell anybody that spending money for something that THEY like is a waste of money. You've remarked on more than one occasion that buying high end (Bushtec, Hannigan, etc.) trailers are a waste of money but I don't agree. It is up to each individual to determine what kind of expenditures bring them the most joy. No, I'm not saying that any of those things are a waste of money, I'm simply saying that I think they add VERY LITTLE in the way of performance. I've heard people claim that adding a set of pipes and K&Ns added 20 HP to their bikes but I have NEVER seen a Dyno test that proves that. I have seen a Dyno test that clearly showed that the Dyna 3000 added very little expect to extend the power band into the area where the rev limiter would have normally shut you down.
  7. In my opinion, the free flowing filters nor the free flowing exhaust either one or together buy you very much, if anything, in performance. I've heard all the claims but the few dyno tests that I have seen have never supported the claims. I think Yamaha does a pretty decent job on setting these bikes up and there are just no simple bolt on performance mods that make all that much difference. I've got the K&Ns, I've got the Dyna 3000, I've had several kinds of mufflers including Khromewerks and Samson and I don't think that ANY of those things made a difference. You can put the VMAX gears on the shelf if you want to but it's the only thing that I have felt REALLY added any significant performance to my bike. Of course, that is when the Dyna 3000 CAN come in handy because you will be able to hit that stock rev limiter a lot easier with the VMAX gears installed.
  8. Nope, I didn't say that everybody would like it. I also guess it depends upon a person's definition of "performance" but if the definition is quicker acceleration, then the VMAX rear end will do more for it than any of those other things.
  9. Neither...in my opinion...the best thing would be the VMAX rear end.
  10. No, I don't think so. You get no benefits, in my opinion, other than the ability to raise the rev limiter. If you never hit the rev limiter, I wouldn't bother. To be honest, the only reason I added it was because I got a great deal on a used one.
  11. 70's....bah humbug...I just spent about an hour clearing the driveway here.
  12. Thanks. I won't get my hopes up just yet because it has sped up before and about the time I thought all was good, it slowed down again.
  13. I've disabled several features for now. I'll let it go for a day or so and see if it seems to have helped. If so, then I'll start adding them back one or two at a time and try to figure out if one of them was the culprit. Another possibility is all our signatures. There is a possibility that all the links to the weather banners and etc. could be causing a problem. A lot of us use them but they are served from a third party site so if THEY have problems then it would l likely slow us down also. Same goes for anything in the signatures that are linked to a third party site. Not saying they are the problem, just something else I'll look at if what I have already done doesn't improve things.
  14. The funny thing is, I am posting from Ohio and you posted from Texas. The server is actually in Texas. This one took 3 seconds. I have disabled a few features for testing though.
  15. Testing that from my end. This one took 4 seconds.
  16. Folks, he showed no disrespect for all that your veterans had done for us. He took exception to one comment that was made and he came back and explained that in a later post. This is one of those threads that is tough to decide what to do with. I think that the vast majority, hopefully all, of our members sincerely respect and appreciate what our men and women in uniform have done for us and all the sacrifices that were and still are being made. On the other hand, it does border on the "political". I've left it up out of respect for all of you who served but if it turns into a political debate, it will be deleted as are most political threads.
  17. I just made some more changes. Don't know if it helped or not. Seems pretty quick right now but it doesn't happen all the time. It takes time before I can tell if I did any good or not. Then I also have to wonder if it's my connection, the server, something in the software settings, one of the customizations that I've added.......hard to track down sometimes.
  18. If there are no problems with it and it has been properly maintained and a good (not salvage) title, it sounds like a steal to me.
  19. By the way Brian, do you use the "Push" features?
  20. Scroll through this area and you'll find answers to most of the questions regarding the maps, weather, etc. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24 Click on the VRAwards link in the upper menu bar to request the awards for PGR, Military Service, etc.
  21. Yea, I've still not figured out what might be slowing it down. It seems fine again this morning. I will probably end up turning some features off and then turning them back on one at a time until I figure it out.
  22. Yes, I knew that they had updated it and I installed the server side updates here yesterday. Still not sure that it isn't causing some server load issues though. I think I'm probably going to remove it later today.
  23. That's good info and I don't blame you at all for your efforts in dispelling such rumors. I agree though that the laws need to be made more clear.
  24. No, forumrunner did not replace Tapatalk. Both are still installed. I'm actually going to remove forumrunner today though.
  25. I don't think there is a LOT to look for. Make sure the wheel bearings feel smooth and the tires are OK. There is just not a lot to watch out for other than any obvious cracks, bad latches, etc. on the box.
