  1. Fuses, TCI, fuel filter(at least one), Plexus, small fire extingisher, battery powered soldering gun/solder, electrical wire, headlight bulb, 1157 bulb, Small air compressor/tire patch, and that is a start. RandyA
  2. I just wish Lonna's mom lived here in east Tennessee. Just remember, when you get too hot down there in the summer, you will have a place to stay here in the mountains. We will take you up on Mt Mitchell in July and you will need your jacket. Our prayers are with you two. Randy & Laura
  3. I upgraded my 83 to an 86 up light and am very happy with it. I also have a PIAA bulb, which I also had in my 83 set up. It is a very good conversion in my opinion. RandyA
  4. To fix it right, and this is a real common problem on the 1st gens especially when the weather turns cooler, is to get grease up around the bearing, or some from the top of the bearing. I made a cheap fitting that works great. Remember, the hole the cable sticks into is a blind hole so it is not open to the inside of the speedometer. Look at this post. 5. There are a lot better deals on Oddesy and other gel batteries than that, delivered to your door. I think I got mine from one of the hot rod catalogs for a little over $100. RandyA
  6. Well, our weather down here is about 29º this morning, but we are looking at low to mid 70's in a couple of days. I wish I could get with you Gary as I am about 90 miles away, but I am working. RandyA
  7. Maybe he is one of the "Village People"? RandyA
  8. I have had Elite II's and now Elite III's on my 83 and I like the III's just fine. Between the two, I would take the III's. RandyA
  9. This does not sound like your situation, but one of the problems people have on these bikes is if they are like mine, DO NOT give it ANY throttle while starting. I may give mine a little choke, but if I give it any throttle, it don't work good. I will use the choke to control RPM"s for a few seconds until it gets going. RandyA
  10. Anybody remember the "Mini 8-track"? I had one in my 64 Chevelle in about 72. RandyA
  11. I got my Elite III for my 1st gen from the Superstore for $102 delivered to the door. That was about $35 under my local independent dealer who usually does pretty good. RandyA
  12. I have seen some real pretty white 1st gens, that ain't one of them. They may be keeping that one a long time if they don't come down on the price, a lot. RandyA
  13. Took a little ride down thru the country yesterday. It was 70º and beautiful. But, it rained all day today and maybe got up to 50º. It is supposed to slowly get back up to the upper 60's as the normal temp for this time of year is about 69º here. One of the things I tend to pay attention to on the weather is record highs and there were a lot of them in the early 50's. But, now that we have global warming, maybe it will get back to where it was almost 50 years ago. RandyA
  14. How about "Daddy Moose"? RandyA
  15. You da man!!!!!!! That was great and would make an awsome news story. RandyA
  16. Several years ago I installed the lighted strip from Big Bike parts on a friend's MKII and rather than mount the Venture logo back on the light strip, I moved it up to the upper half of the trunk. It looked very good in that location. RandyA
  17. Isn't it a bummer when you still have green leaves on the trees with snow on them? RandyA
  18. Hey, great pics and glad you got some seat time, and with your son. RandyA
  19. Ya might want to check with Snopes, that sounds like an urban legend to me. Welcome aboard. RandyA
  20. Well, it could be worse!! RandyA
  21. Did they restart the serial numbers at each year? RandyA
  22. Wow, that's really neat! RandyA
  23. So, your karma is finally working in your favor for a change, huh? As they say, what goes around, comes around, and if anyone deserves something special, it is you an Lonna. RandyA
  24. Well, the local weather just did the prognosis on our winter here. This is official since the wolly worm is used and it is always right. These things are kind of orange and will have black areas. Where it is black, it is supposed to be cold. The one they showed was black on each end and the middle was orange. That means that the first part of winter will be cold, then most will be above average then before spring rolls in, it will get cold for a little while. We have found this to be a lot more accurate then that idiot rodent seeing his shadow. RandyA
  25. One biggie is exhaust headers. The 1st gen goes on the inside of the frame and the 2nd gen goes on the outside. The heads are made different. RandyA
