I gotta agree with silvr on this one. $1,900 is a lot with 2nd gear gone. I did mine on the cheap about eleven years ago and later on pulled it again and put a trans in out of an 86. If you have good mechanical skills, it can be fixed without spending a lot, but it is a bit of work. RandyA

My wife and I have been dealing with workman's comp on an injury she had over five years ago. We tried very hard not to get a lawyer, but when I finally said I was tired of getting jerked around by them, I said you got one more chance before I quit talking and let a lawyer to handle it. I finally was assigned an agent that was willing to work with us. Laura has had four surgeries associated with the area around her right eye. She had what is called an eye socket bloweye. She still has to wear special glasses with prisim lens for double vision. They made an offer we had basically agreed to that I had a lawyer review. He said that's was the best she would probably get. I was notified yesterday that after they sent the proposal thur their lawyers, they upped it over $7,000 more. Go figure. The problem with workmans comp is you are dealing with two intities. Each state has their own laws and then they are paying premiums to a private insurance company, in her case Liberty Mutual. Obviously, the less an insurance company pays, the more profit they make. My best advise is to get a good doctor that is willing to assign a good impairment rating and then present WC with that and also visit a good lawyer that deals in WC on a free visit for a review. Once you offically put it in the lawyers hands, WC will no longer talk to you. Good luck and I can assure you that this can be a miserable experience, but DO NOT give up. RandyA

And thsi is why I live in south Florida!
Venturous Randy replied to starkruzen's topic in Watering Hole
I see on the updated weather forcast in your area for next Tuesday, they are talking mid 60's in the day and mid 40's at night. I am going to tell you now, you are going to feel real cold at those temps in Florida. Maybe you bragged a little too quick. RandyA -
Steve, I will say a prayer for you. I have spent over 30 years of my life in Quality and most was as a Quality Manager. That can be a tough job. This is especially true with so many companies trying to cut every penny they can out of their product. Quality will always suffer. Good luck and hope it goes well. RandyA

Yeah, I guess if you think about it.....I better not go there!! I believe the hardest I have ever run in my life was in a auto salvage yard years ago when I turned down between a row of cars and encountered a big shunk about 15 feet away coming straight at me. RandyA

I would love to have the gear ratios I have now on my 83 along with a 6th as an overdrive. It would be the perfect set of gears. RandyA

Senior moment costs me $5.00 donation
Venturous Randy replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Embarrassing Moments
I agree with Gary on this. I feel a lot more comfortable being off the bike and holding the handle bars when she gets off or on. I almost always let the kickstand down mode kill the bike. RandyA -
Auxiliary Fuse Box
Venturous Randy replied to 91nwl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It sounds to me like you are planning to keep the stock fuse block in place. I would suggest replacing it also and having one big enough to accomadate what you want. RandyA -

Ignore him Ken, he is just jealous. It's that Harley wannabe thing. It's why he spends so much time in the 1st gen section. RandyA -

That was really cool. I have a hard time putting a sentence together, much less what you did. Thanks. RandyA

My younger sister drove an Isetta to high school. She ended up getting a special parking place because the boys would pick her car up and put it in all kinds of places. It was a neat car to drive, but hard to miss a pot hole unless you drove around it because the two rear wheels were close together. RandyA

This is my back yard. I was thru there about a three weeks ago. It is a lot like The Dragon in that there are usually a bunch of crotch rockets, especially on the weekends. Some of them are down right stupid in some of their antics and sometimes it gets them killed. Occasionally, the cops will patrol heavy when it gets bad. That last time I was there I saw four Tennessee State Troopers as I passed thru. Most of the speed limit is 45 and it is probably more curvy than the Dragon. RandyA

I seriously considered going that way, but an old Air Force buddy south of Winston Salem that was going to put me up Saturday night had to go out of town to Charlotte to his daughter's at the last minute. And, with the weather rainy and foggy here, I guess it was best I did not make the trip, but I sure wanted to. RandyA

It was true enough in my mind to make me feel better about the story and that is what matters to me. I am also one of those people that checks Snopes for these things, but ocassionally, I DON"T want to know if it is not true, it is still a good story. RandyA

About three weeks ago I was pulling into a friends front yard and what I usually do is park my bike on the sidewalk near his house. This time, due to my distraction, I was not paying good enough attention and was not going at enough of an angle and there was just enough difference in the height of the sidewalk to take me down. As I was going over, I remember trying to keep the bike from going all the way to the fairing, which I had just repaired and had painted last summer. Well, I kept it from going all the way, but I hit the ground very hard on my left chest area. I could not breath for a minute. Then, when I could breath, every breath hurt. After a little while, it got better, but three weeks later I am still sore. I don't know if I cracked a rib, but I sure bruised something. The way I stayed with the bike kept me from hurting it, but not stepping away from the bike and letting it go sure did hurt me. RandyA

Got Me Tinsel On & Ready to Ride...
Venturous Randy replied to Aussie Annie's topic in Watering Hole
Wow, I envy you, ya done good. Good luck on your ride. RandyA -
Wow, I didn't know my 83 was so special. I think what we should do is see how many people we can get to send him a message asking about the bike and then tell him he is the biggest lying idiot we have ever seen. RandyA

I was in a salvage yard a week ago that had a bunch of small block Chevy engines. In fact, they had six LT1 engines and a few were under 100,000 miles. The only problem was they were "super glued" together as part of the Cash for Clunkers program. Absolutely sickening. RandyA

You can look at this as a blessing. It has caused you to start taking a closer look at your girlfriend in a different way and I think that is good. There may be a reason she is not married at this time and you are just beginning to realize it. Ya done good. RandyA

This generation can not imagine what everyone went through daily to support the war effort. Now it is "Someone else will do it". I have even heard people say; "You would have to be an idiot to join the military'. Fortunately we still have those man enough to stand up for what is right and I appreciate what our veterans do and am proud I am one. RandyA
