Help-valve shim tool
Marcarl replied to dug050's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Looks like something I would be interested in having in my tool box. Was out to Harbor Freight and Pep Boys last week and came home empty handed, was feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't find anything useful to add to my tool box, but now this tool might come in handy sometime. So if you're looking for someone to share with,,,, I'll be shareable. -
Hello, Little help needed with my 83
Marcarl replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but a question without pictures often get stupid answers, so try to post pictures when you ask questions and the answers will be forth coming,,,,, it's just the way we are, we can't help it. So ask away and we all learn!- 47 replies

Moving the front exhaust makes things easier, but in the times I've done this job, it never moved, so can be done with it in place. Also, when you put the stator cover back on, be sure to have the shifter linkage in the up position behind the cover,, it really would like to be in the down position, but then the cover won't slide on and you have to use a hammer to get it in place and the shifter won't work. Opps,, just noticed that this would be a 2nd gen,,,, not too familiar with those, so forget what I said. Now I'm glad Squidely lives in Texas, he can only get at me with words.

You might want to cut the nut off with a Dremel tool, and then things should come apart to be fixed right,,,,,,maybe???? I don't have a Honda, but that's what I can conjure up in my mind.

I noticed that somebody finally made up the bed,,,, how long did you have to train her to get that done? Other than that, some nice pictures of a bedroom,,,, no wonder somebody would mistakenly want to sleep there.

steering head bearing
Marcarl replied to warriorhoneybee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This time they are correct. There is not a lot of play allowed in the bearings and normally they need to totally seat themselves, which happens under riding conditions. The difference isn't much, but enough to make a difference. -
Steering Head Detented
Marcarl replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nope, is the simple answer. First, once you remove a bearing and race you will change the alignment, and it will give more problems than you want to imagine, second, the bearings themselves have flat spots in them as well now, so they will rotate to the best seating place in the race and you have more problems. Take them out and replace, and you'll not have to worry about them again. -

Most of them have 2 wheels,,,'course that would make them be bikes,,,, some have trailers attached,,,, that's just to slow them down so that the others can keep up, some made it home and then some others may not have been so lucky,, there are farings suited for the mature individual, and then some without for the more hardy type. Some have nicer colors than some others, but that is in the eyes of the beholder,,,,, actually a pretty nice picture.

I know I must have that effect on a lot of women,,, guess they either don't have enough dough or the courage to offer to wine and dine me. Ya, that's got to be it!

Different clutch issue
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
So if I got it correctly with the info I've been given so far, is that I may have the wrong size bubbles with too much spring pressure associated with the lever travel and the rod return, but it only happens on even years so I should be alright til next year. But if it's only supposed to be half there, I should get a plate that if fully there or I might only get partial response from the bearings in the ball. Have I got it about right so far? I'll go take a look to see if any of those little critters made into the basket. -
85 Royale Last year it seemed to me that my clutch would not engage until it was almost fully released. This is the opposite problem that most of us seem to experience. Mostly we have problems with being unable to get the clutch to release, due to a bad master, or air in the line or a soft line. But my problem is that I feel that sooner or later, the way it's going, my clutch will refuse to fully engage and start to slip. That being said, I cannot get it to slip when fully released. I had that problem a couple of years ago and so replaced the clutch, and cleaned and rebuilt the master and the slave. So I'm looking for thoughts on this issue.

If the covers have not had new gaskets somewhere along the line, you'll be due for those soon anyways,,, so you can do 2 items of preventative maintenance.

"Darlene" has started to groan when I first mount her
Marcarl replied to bknsaddle's topic in Watering Hole
Are you sure it's the shock that is groaning? My wife blames it something else and then stands back for a minute or two,,,,, sometimes she can be right,,, like once, oh never mind, she might read this. -
Trying To Fill Differential
Marcarl replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Had a problem with my 85 as well,,,,,, seems to be of the opposite gender and doesn't listen well to gentle persuasion. Knock it well on it head, it needs a sharp impact to wake it up.- 9 replies

Friend of mine had a Vulcan,,, rode with his wife, but then to the problems with her back, bought something else,,,, yep a Venture. He's only 5'8" but says it better than the Vulcan. He also tried the Wing, but liked the looks and seating better on the Venture. After a year, he wouldn't trade it. The only thing to be aware of is the whine,,,, it could drive you nuts if it can't be fixed.

Just got back from some real snow ploughing,,,,,, most in one place was about 1.5 inches,,,, ya the dot is supposed to in there. Maybe just a few more tools or maybe a bit of safety chrome, can't change from perfection,,, either in the scoot dept or the cage dept. Having a good time are you? Don't get cooked to well done.

See I knew it,,,,, now even Gary gets involved,,,ya, anytime we can remind Carl about his age,,,,, 'course standing next to me would make ya'al better looking as well,,,, so maybe that's the real reason!!!

Now what are you trying to say with that statement,,,, this was all about tractors and such and now it's all about people you might know,,,, at least, who you think you might know,,,, somehow I think it's going to come around to friends of mine, so I'd better get the first shot in.
