Retirement ain't all it's cracked up to be,,,,, everybody thinks that since you have nothing to do, they had better bring you something to keep you busy,,,,,( now if you're married and have a wife,,, you have no life,, not really that just rhymed so I threw it in). Why just the other day I had to work on 3 scooters, and I didn't even get to touch my own. What a life, look forward to it, every day is a new one. Congrats and blessings with the kids,,,,,,,YA!!!

You probably have an older unit using R22, R12 is used for freezers. The upgrade is to 134A but then the system needs to be flushed and a new TX valve is needed. 134A is now much cheaper than R12, so it would pay to get things switched over, and while you're at it, install a new compressor to make everything more efficient. Now you might be able to find a buddy who recycles R22, and maybe he can 'lend' you some for the time being, although they have to keep track of their stuff pretty close. Either way, you should have that leak fixed so it don't cost you anymore. On second thought I may have the R22 and R12 mixed up.

Don't know what kind of material you have to mount them on, but if it's plastic like the first gens, then I would go for four tabs, so that the plastic don't crack up on you. For the speakers, 2 tabs will work fine in metal, but in plastic there won't be much body to hold the music.

Just so you know what you are getting into. Check the brightness of the LEDs in the bright sunlight, almost any light will light up well enough at night, but what happens in bright sunlight is more important, and that's where I found LEDs to fail. Now that's about 2 years ago, so things have changed, but we ride more in bright sunlight than in the dark of night, so when you go to test the brightness for satisfaction, let the sun shine directly on the tail light for your decision.

Carb/jet cleaning without pulling carbs
Marcarl replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would say that a little air here and there after the cleaner sits for 5 minutes, and then followed by more cleaner, might help out a bit. Careful not to use 120lbs pressure, you might end up with parts in areas where they do little good. Other than that, it's about what I do if and when I have a problem. Haven't had to tear them carbs apart yet,,,, but that may happen some day. -
Got 'er done!!!!!!!!!
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
We thought to leave that part off,,,, easier to change the oil (no plug to strip out) and it gives better ground clearance for going over curbs. Ya that's about it,, almost, broke the easy out off as well, just to add to the time factor and frustration. Lucky I had drilles right through the bolt so I drove the broken piece of the easy out right through, redrilled the hole, retapped the threads, inserted an 8 mm bolt, and now it done. It's been fun,,,, but I got NEW TOOLS!!!!! Any Wed is good,, sometime after 6pm,,, the more the merrier. No more snow 'til November -
Now you got Don hungry,,,, and the rest of us wondering where the next meal is going to be,,, or is he getting hungry for something else,,,,,,, now you got me wondering I mean my mind is wandering,,,,,, time to go for holidays I think,,,,, oh wait, that might mean work.

Happy Birthday Naugh-t,,,, this seems to happen every year around this time,,,,, you got a plan?????

Got 'er done!!!!!!!!!
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep It should,, but somebody needs to come and find the rest of the parts back!!! Oil pan, bolts, o-rings, gaskets, bolts and more bolts, brake fluid, farings, windshield, you know, I got 'er done but not done done,,,,, I'll let Wayne tell you what happened, he types better than me. -
It's because you are only looking with one eye,,,, goes faster that way!!! Good to have you back online,,, at least now we know who to blame again.
-
Yaaaaa!!!!!

We have good beer in Canada,,,, so that ought to help some. and oh ICE-CREAM!!!
-
Now to have butterfleas with long legs and bellies all in one post, that just gives me stomach thoughts, now where is the ice-cream??
-
Tom Tom Tom,,,,, where have you been,,,,, now you've got the boss thinking about things that are mostly for the young men,,,,,,,, and I was wondering about 'butterfies' I know all about butterflies.
-
I think the plan is to sit ON the table, (he doesn't say anything about chairs), so maybe he's looking for Annie to balance the table for him,,,, I don't think Becky would even get half close enough for the proper balance.
-
Now changing the subject does little for changing the story. Why not just own up to it, confess and apologize!!!! it'll make you feel real good inside!!! And on another note,,,WHAT are butterfies, can you eat those too?
-
Do YOU know WHO you are talking to? or am I not the offending party? Either way, you need to talk nice!!!

Go for $4grand,,,, it does 2 things for you. First it tell a prospective buyer that you have a better bike, and second, you can always drop the price. Who knows? there are folks out there who think that I ride a $20,000.00 MC, and for them $8k would be a bargain. You just never know!

Thanks Don, I personally didn't read anything that bothered me,,,, but then I don't read every post. I realize that not everything will come across as maybe it was intended, and so have a bag of salt right handy when I read the posts,,,, but that doesn't do a thing for others I sure,,,, I have the salt and nobody lives close enough to get some. If I am one of the offenders, it's not intended that way, so I too will keep closer watch. And, YES, I am always impressed on how we as members will go over an item time and time again, almost as if it were never discussed before,,,,,, and that is awesome. GOOD going members, keep up the love.

So why are you replying to a thread that's not addressed to you or has Big Tom come to the time in his life where spelling is becoming a problem????
-
Carry on, and do what you have to. Riding is nice, but then so are a lot of other things and it seems we can normally do only one thing at a time. So,, God bless, you made a good decision and it will pay back in time.

In addition to this thought, is that if you are a MC and only have a small profile, you tend to blend with the scenery on the side of the road, and if then you are running your low beam, you really are not making much of an impression, maybe better to be running on the right side of the the left track. The other thing that happens,,, and that's the type of thinking that got me started on this thread,,,, is what does the cager coming towards you think if you are riding the right hand track. There is a possibility that he\she would consider that you would be making a right hand turn, and so consider you of no consequence. Not that it would necessarily be the case, but mostly a cager has to deal with cagers and therefore the first thing considered is cager things, so if a cager is coming toward you and is moved over to the right hand side of the of his lane,,,,,,,then he's making a right turn,,, right???? get the picture??????
