  1. Turns out,, now that we have it all apart, that second gear doesn't clear completely in neutral,, it seems to be fine when in gear, the dogs clear, but in neutral it doesn't quite clear. So now what, do we bend the forks to accommodate, file a wee bit off the dogs so that they clear, or stick it back together and take out the hearing aids? We presently have Dingy's gear set and forks installed. Why would this happen? What would have changed? Should we change back to the original gear set? We mic'd them both and they seem to be the same,,, pretty hard to tell on casting, but they are close.
  2. Will be able to use some strong arms round about 7:30 pm
  3. I took the clutch out to see if anything un-towards was happening in that area. So that gives me some sense of where all this comes from. The sound comes from inside the tranny and it could be either the forks or gears touching..... guess it's coming out,,, wish us well.
  4. We used the gears sent by Dingy, but did not change the forks seeing as we could see nothing wrong with the ones that were in there to start with. And everything seemed to work fine on the bench before we put the bolts back in. It only makes the noise (sounds like a bolt hitting something in rotation) in neutral, and only when the clutch engages, whether the lever is in or out. So we can put it in gear and the noise goes away, slip it into neutral and all is well, wait for the slight friction to start turning the tranny and it returns.
  5. http://www.roadbikemag.com/home/breaking-news-polaris-acquires-indian/ Should be an interesting match-up.
  6. Some of your issue may not be in the cord at all,,,, it may lie in the connections between the controls and the amplifier itself. You can see these when you lift the control panel out of the bike. They need to be brought a little closer together, I did 3 bikes now, just by adding washers under the connectors and solved their problems.
  7. Boy, that bag is almost big enough to fit a squid into. Looks good though,,, should help out just fine, Me thinks.
  8. Actually snitched it from my wife's bouquet that I got for her 3 weeks ago, and they were on for less than 1/2 price,,,, well at least they lasted 'til the next morning when she got up to see them,,,,,,,, should be well dried by June.
  9. I'm gone today, but will work on this next week,,,,, need to finish laying out the ride route, and a few other things,,,,, and then ask if they will really allow you to eat there Charlie. They'll ask for your history and whether you have have any bad habits,,,,, like not showing up at appointed times or not at all,,,,, so I'll have to see if I can formulate the response without lying and yet get you some food. Anyways,,, you still have not answered the question: why are you so stuck on Angels?
  10. For me, during the day a bright light showing is very important, so I use high beam only and my driving lights. Using low beam during the day only gives others another color to look at, there is no real light showing, just pay attention to MCs coming towards you, and you'll notice what I'm saying. During the dark hours, the amount of light is not near as important to be seen, just any light will actually show up, but now it becomes paramount us to see. For this reason it's very important to have the headlight aimed properly. If it's aimed too low, you have a shortened line of sight and if it's too high it's all washed out. Along with this is the fact that we'll p*ss off others if our lights are too high.

  16. I do not start my 85 unless I intend to us it, or for some other stupid reason, like showing it off. If I do start it, I want it to warm right up, I want everyting HOT, and that takes more than the temp gauge going up. Mine sat all winter, no battery tender, nothing in the gas. Come time to fire it, I waited for the bowls to fill, gave it 50% choke, cranked it about 5 times and she was running. Sometimes the less we worry and stew the better we're off.
  17. Can we get back to the original question????,,, can somebody tell us what is was????
