  1. I just got this link from Flyinfool. What a great resource. Thought I would post it for all the new guys.. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1989/VENTURE%20ROYALE%20-%20XVZ1300DW/parts.html Thanks Jeff !! Hope you heal fast. In the mean time keep posting good stuff !
  2. The Chrome End Nut on my heal toe shifter keeps loosening. Looking for the right fix. I've attached two pictures. 1st of the Heal Toe shifter and shaft, 2nd the Chrome End Nut. I had this appart this last winter and can't seem to find all the right pieces. My thought would be to get a thin metric nut with nylon locking threads to keep the nut from loosening against the Heal Toe shifter. Then lastly put the chrome end nut on. Open to suggestions.
  3. My wife asked me to take her shoes for new heals. The Shoe shop wanted $20. to put on new heals about 1 inch square and about 1/8 inch thick. After recently fixed some plastic tabs on my 89 VR, I thought hmmm. I wonder if PlasticX could fix her shoes. So I washed the heal and used masking tape around the heal making about 1/8 in high fence. Then pressed firmly on the tape where it stucked to the shoe so powder and chemical would not leak through and then pored the powder level to the top of the tape then started to add the droplets. Then I stired it to make sure that all the powder got disolved then did some minor adjustments as needed then propped the shoe level and let dry. The next day I filed the high spots and bingo, new heals. Time will tell how long it will last. The origional heal lasted 2 months.
  4. Has any one converted the heal toe shifter to a toe shifter on a 1986 royal star ?
  5. This is the first bike that I've owned that has a heal toe shifter. I have been riding it using just the toe but trying the heal every once in a while. It's very uncomfortable because the heal is so high when the toe is where is like it. I removed the inside belcrank and lowered the heal and it was better for up shifting. The toe was then to high to be comfortable. I started looking at other bikes (mainly HD) and most of their shifters are 2 piece with a spline that allows both the heal and toe to be adjusted separately. Does anyone make a shifter that is more adjustable or flatter than the stock heal toe? I’ve read other posts about cutting off the heal and that is not an option I want to take.
  6. If I were closer the Warden and I would be having a discussion about now..... That is a Royale with 19k!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-XVZ1200-/260640266616?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3caf5ed978 Them knots on my head don't heal so good anymore!!
  7. Had another back surgery Tuesday in Albuquerque, everything went as planned mostly. Stayed in hospital till Friday was supposed to stay there another night but weather guessers said was going to snow bad so My loving wife made a pallet for me to be comfortable as possible and we made it home no trouble. So now got to hang around in the house and heal for a couple or three months....Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes hopefully this will get me back to as close to 100 percent as I can be. Happy new year everyone!!!
  8. Can't remember if I posted this here already but if I did I apologize for the repeat. First weekend of September the weather was right and I was feeling pretty good since my quadruple bypass so I decided to take my first multi day ride with the new Wing. Road up to Montgomery and spent the night. Next morning I headed south on Hwy 26, a really nice road that I had driven back in the Spring with the bus. Got down to a town called Union Springs and as I was going through the main intersection of this small town a lady ran the red light and broad-sided me on the right. Luckily she wasn't going very fast; unfortunately she was going fast enough to break both my tibia and fiblia and dislocate my ankle. Needless to say my beautiful new Wing was torn up. I was taken to Montgomery for surgery, and long story short, I have been in a cast since. Doc says two more weeks, then we'll see. Me being a diabetic he's being very cautious with me. After a long talk with the insurance company I convinced them to total the Wing. Repair estimate was $14,000. I have received my money for the bike but purchasing another is NOT in my immediate future. After two accidents in less than a year, even though neither was my fault I am calling it quits as far as riding is concerned. I've lost two beautiful machines and my body hasn't healed/been corrected completely from the first accident. This problem really scares me and I am praying that all will heal properly. I have already replaced the bike....with a 2004 Chevy SSR. It only has a little over 15k and is absolutely immaculate. It's a convertible, which I wanted, and also a hardtop. Unfortunately I cannot drive yet and it's killing me to see it sitting in the garage. But hopefully, only 2 more weeks. I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to all here, especially those fine people that I have had the privelege to meet through this site. I haven't been able to attend the ride-ins and meets that I wanted to but am hoping that I can in the future. Although I am not riding now I hope you all will allow me to stay around the site. If not I understand. I still love motorcycling and would give almost anything to get on another. But I need time to heal from ALL the stuff I've had in the past year. So to all I say please ride safe. And watch out for Dodge SUVs. !!!!!!!!
  9. They say that laughter helps people heal faster, and I belive it's true. Big Bob's Daughter is updating us all on the "Bad news from Canadian crew going to PIP" daily and she stated that she reads Big Bob the updates from that thread. What if anyone who has a funny joke puts it up on that thread so she can read it to him? It sounds like he is at a point where he is coming off some meds and is able to speak and understand a lot more clearly. Just thought some light hearted humor for him to enjoy might help him heal faster and pass the day more quickly. What do you think?

    Heal Toe Shifter

Anybody use the heal portion of the heal toe shifter? I tried playing with it but it feels to awkward shifting with my heal. Thinking of getting rid of it. Gets in the way.
