  1. Finally got around to installing my Memphis Shades Batwing. I ordered a generic one off of EBAY for a 9" headlight, bought the quick release brackets from Wayne, and made a custom bracket to attach the batwing to the quick release bracket. Took it for a quick ride and I like it.
  2. you know all of the insulation on the INSIDE of the helmet? what do you think that is there for? there MAY be a slight difference in INSIDE temperature, but no much. and yes I have always worn a black full face helmet here in Texas.
  3. I have the venturedad and am happy with it, simple install. I didn't think the wiring was any big deal.
  4. I got mine installed from Discount Tire for $87.
  5. You do need an adaptor, but my cheap butt uses 4 hockey pucks instead and works just fine. You can also put a pair of jack stands under the rear crash bars to hold the bike up right and steady.
  6. I had a harbor freight trailer with a car top carrier, and it pulled just find and never needed to be extended. I also installed and carried a cooler on the tongue, so maybe my tongue weight was always heavy enough that it didn't matter as much.
  7. If you can find a rear tire in the size you can try that. The rear tire's have more tread than the front tires, go figure.
  8. Bought my $125 HJC full face helmet when I bought my bike in 05. Been happy enough with it. No major issues besides its hot in the Texas summer heat, but aren't they all.
  9. Seriously, it takes 15 minutes at most, that's if you have to look for tools. There are two nuts to be loosened, you remove the old link and bolt, insert new, tighten, done. Very very easy.
  10. If you put on some leveling links, it will liven up the handling quite a bit. Also, if you don't ride with the windshield it feels much lighter. I rarely remove mine, but did this week and feels much sportier. I was looking for EFI as well, but these carbs are absolutely no problems. Carb sync's are simple and quick.
  11. Don't they both have the same gas tank capacity? Might be a difference from bike to bike, but from the RSTD and the Venture, they should be the same. I do think the massive windshield contributes to worse mpg's, will be testing when I put on my Memphis Shades batwing fairing soon.
  12. Gee a 5 minute google search turned up this: 20. Arrow = The arrow indicates the rotation direction of the tyre accordingly to its fitting position (front or rear). In case a rear tyre is fitted on a front wheel, the tyre has to be fitted reverse to the rotating direction indicated on the sidewall. Fitment of front tyres on rear wheel is not permitted. about 3/4 of the way down the page
  13. That stinks. Discount Tire ordered and mounted my BFG Radial T/A no problem. Told them it was for my sidecar. They were concerned about whether or not their machine would work, but no problems for me.
  14. My truck had a similar problem and it was the brake line. Replaced it with a fresh one and problem solved.
  15. Metzler actually recommends on their website to reverse the arrow when doing this.
  16. didn't realize that there was different kinds of goop for the back of the pads, but it should be stamped on the master cylinder what kind of brake fluid to use.
  17. all you have to do is lift the bike enough to get the tension off of the bolts, should be doable
  18. I recently replaced mine and when I layed them side by side thought they were the same, but on further inspection the Diamond R ones are about a 1/4" shorter. Quite surprised at what a difference it made. And you DO NOT have to remove anything to install them, just lift the bike slightly on a jack to relieve pressure on the shock.
  19. If its fuel injected I would think that they would could stop sending fuel to that injector.
  20. are you getting power to the modulator? it could have been the cause of the meltdown.
