  1. Kent, I know quite well how you feel about the darkside. Do you have any first hand experience riding on a CT?
  2. I've used it. Can't say if it is any good or not, but my mechanic neighbor suggested it.
  3. hasn't been my experience, but then again YMMV:missingtooth:
  4. Pull the fuel line from the petcock and point it in a gas can. Turn the key to the on position and watch to see how much fuel comes out.
  5. Its part of the cooler package that comes with the camper.
  6. The camper has a cut out on the side with elastic, it is built for a window unit. Since I bought mine used, I had to make a stand out of pvc. Why pvc? It is cheap and light and has so far worked great. The window unit is a standard 5000 BTU unit. I went with the lightest one I could find, but they are all similar.
  7. when you turn your key on do you hear the fuel pump fire up?
  8. Here are a couple of pics from last weekend's ROT rally. Going to the Rally had everything loaded up. The two tubs on top contain the a/c unit and cloths. Yes my wife packs light. Also had the cooler full of beverages and ice. Yes it was heavy. Didn't have any problems pulling it, left the bike in 4th and set the cruise at an indicated 65-70. Got between 30-35 mpg's. Coming home I let my FIL carry all of the gear, and the cooler was empty. That was an easy pull. 5th gear and cruise on 75, no problems. Getting 35-40 mpgs. Actually got cold at night with the a/c unit, had to turn it down and borrow a blanket. The air mattress works ok, but not used to such a small bed, and every movement gets transmitted to your partner. May have to look for a memory foam instead, but not looking for more bulk to haul.
  9. Instead of aux lights, you should think about getting a HID headlight. Guarantee that with this headlight you don't need driving lights, and others will definately see you.
  10. Come on down to Texas, we have plenty of heat available.
  11. what you'll find is that it is much ado about nothing
  12. Mine is 17" as well, I have the 7" windshield on the fairing now and will probable leave it. They make a 5,7,9,12" windshield as well.
  13. It is a Memphis Shades batwing and I bought it from ebay seller badgershollowmotorsports, but looking at their webstore, they have raised their prices. I paid $188 delivered through ebay and another $54 for a 7" windshield. These were the best prices I could find. I actually called them and talked to them on the phone first to make sure that I was getting the right one and the guy I talked to was very helpfull and knowledgeable. Their current price of $229 is the standard price that everyone is charging.
  14. Isn't Ride on supposed to help with leaks? I would have thought it would have stopped any leaks as they develop.
  15. Anybody seen or done an airbag in place of the pos stock shock?
  16. Mine get warm to the touch but never hot.
  17. A quick search on Mr Gasket Fuel Pump yielded the following: It was a Mr. Gasket #42S and it seems pretty universal. I don't know if it would fit your bike. Needed finagling to fit mine. But now I can get one at almost any auto parts store if the need arises. I needed a couple fittings, like a right angle and a fuel line splice, plus 4 hose clamps. I also had to drill a hole to mount it. You see, the stock fuel pump had the in and out on the same end, but the Mr. Gasket 42S had the in on one end, and the out on the other. If it were me, I'd install it and make sure it runs, then put it in the saddle bag for a future day. Then you'll have done the thinking in comfort, instead of along the road
  18. isn't there a fairly cheap generic available at autozone?
  19. I had a HF trailer with a Sears car top camper and it pulled great with everything stock on the trailer. I did add a small cooler rack and kept "stuff" in it most of the time, so the extra tongue weight may have helped, but I never even knew it was back there until you hit a bump.
  20. Its very bright and I like it. I have no issues with it starting right up and the light is on the entire time I start it. You plug the harness the new light comes with into the existing stock harness and it acts like the switch for the included relay. You do have to run a new power and ground wire. The kit I bought was very nice, easy to install and best of all plug and play. I am not disappointed and would definately recommend it.
  21. It was super easy for me to do, then again no fairing.
  22. thanks for the tip, may also look at buying the ones from Memphis Shades that bolt onto the lower part of the fairing, they are pretty cheap.
  23. When I built my pull behind trailer I coated the entire thing top to bottom front to back with the DIY roll on truck bed liner.
