1. Does anyone know what company made the lights that go in the light bars that wrap around the trunk and saddlebags? I need to find a replacement for one as the lens is broken. Thanks for any info....
2. Stopped at the grocery store after work with everything working normal. Came out, fired up the VR and no headlight and dashlights no CMS backlight. Engine started OK, turn signals, tail light and brake light were working OK too. Checked the fuse box found no blown fuses or weak or corroded holders. Wiggled and pulled the start button. Also checked the headlight bulb which was good. Are the headlight and dash lights connected in some manner or did I win the lottery and get two problems at once? I'm at a loss. Any ideas? I need to ride this thing to work tomorrow morning.
3. Thinking about putting a 1157 LED bulb in the tail light of my 07 RSTD is it worth the $20.00? Will be adding some LED light on the back during the winter just feel you can't have enough lights for people to see.
4. At the risk of beating a dead horse for you members, I have a couple questions. First, does the fairing come off in one piece. I've removed the luggage, side trim, left and right tops off the upper, the lowers and the trim around the head light. I can see several mounting bolts, but can't determine if the head light as well as all the wiring and the instrument panel will stay with the bike. Not much room in there for my big hands to start undoing plugs etc. Second one concerns the replacing the collector. Do you have to drop the entire exhaust? Whats the secret hand shake for getting the two rear pipes into the top of the collector if you don't have to remove everything from the manifolds down?
5. So many of you guys have a lot more mechanical wisdom than I do so I am posting this question for your opinions..... I recently went completely through my bike getting it restored (99RSV), new paint, new parts, new mods, blah blah, blah- you get the point. When we reinstalled the gas tank getting everything put back together the low fuel indicator light now stays on. The contacts appear to be good and I cleaned them for good measure(where they connect in front of the tank), still the light stays on. This morning I replaced the fuel thingy in the tank.....still same problem. Now though here's what happens: Turn key on, get correct fuel level reading on gauge momentarily then all fuel bars blink 7 times pause, blink 8 times pause, blink 8 times again, then only the top fuel bar continues to blink(the bar for totally full) none of the other bars light, meanwhile the low fuel indicator remains lit. The tank has about 5 gallons of gas in it. One more thing I will include is that I replaced all my indicator lights in the dash with LEDs which take much less wattage to operate are a lot brighter and have a long long life. What are your thoughts ?? :detective:
6. Anybody recall the Thread of a Very Light Weight Battery about 2LBs.
7. 87 vr. My cruise control isn't working. Does anyone know the probable cause? When I turn it on, the 'set' and 'resume' lights turn on for about 3 seconds then back off. The 'on' light never turns on. I then turn it off and back on, same thing. I can here the relay clicking.
8. I had to replace a burned out bulb for my passing lamps and was reminded what a junky set up they are. Has anyone replaced the passing light buckets with something better? Perhaps something that can be adjusted without removing the bulbs? I'm good for another year or so until these bulbs burn out but I wouldn't mind finding a better set up to mount on my light bar.
9. I am working on an 88 venture and have a fault on the display...it is when the headlight on low beam....I soldered all the connections in the CMS...but when the low beam light is on the warning light is on and the display shows the headlight...any information would be great...Thanks in advance.
10. I was recently at a car show in Palmyra N.Y. when I came across this crazy built up Royal Star. Its running nitrous and everything. Incredible custom work on the tank and what a paint job. Even has neon light. Is this one of our members? has anyone else ever seen this before outside of New York State?
11. I have a K&N Airfilter on the 89. What is the best way to clean it ? Do they also use a light oil spray after cleaning like foam rubber ones ?
12. Hey everyone, just got my 1999 Royal Star Venture last week and the cruise does not seem to work at all. A couple of things I have discovered, please let me know if I am wrong. The main switch after being depressed to the "ON" position should spring back to the centered position??..Mine does not. Same with going to the "Off" position. It will stay in either of those positions and not spring back to a centered position. Secondly, when I turn the main switch to on, the "ON" light comes on and so does the "SET" light without touching anything else. Shouldn't that light only come on after depress the "SET/ACCEL" button? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! Dan
13. The brake light is not working on my 98 royal star. The tail light works but no brakes light up in the front or rear levers. The light looks to be an led aftermarket and not stock bulb type. Any ideas on this?
14. I just got our "new" 2003 GW with 2007 Motor Trike Conversion home. What a fantastic 2700 mile ride! Love our RSV, but the GW trike is just that step above. Now the problem; when I use the turn signals both of them flash on the dash board like the emergency flashers are on. The front turn signals are fine the correct side flashes, but the entire back is messed up. Everything flashes, the volume of light put out by the rear lights is almost un-seeable and when apply the breaks the turn indicators on the dash light up. I've jacked up the bike and looked under it to see if I could see anything obvious (I know never that easy). The bike wasn't ridden much for about a year before I got it. I first thought of dirty contacts letting voltage through both sides of the switch, but now with the break lighting them up I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
15. I recently mounted this led brake/tail/signal light bar that was on sale here in Ontario at Princes Auto for about $20. I liked this bar as it could be separated from the frame that it came in so it fits neatly under my trunk. Was able to avoid drilling holes by using plastic ties around my trunk rack. Mounted the light bar immediately below the trunk, so my helmet holders including locks are still functional. Used wood shims visible in the picture but not visible from behind to keep the light bar hanging straight. Also, I wired the lights by just plugging into my trailer wiring plug.
16. Just noticed I have a burned out driving light. I have a 07 midnight with factory driving lights. They say they a sealed beam. How would I go about fixing this? Sorry for the dumb ?
17. KarlS

Confused

My wife left a note on the fridge... "It's not working! I can't take it anymore; I've gone to stay at my friends!" I opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was still cold... What the hell is she talking about?!!
18. I just got a text message from a member named John with a SC phone number that is stuck in Kalispell, MT with light isues. He has no acess to WiFi or a way to contact this site. Is there someone up that can call him at 843-251-7789 and see if you can help him figure out his light problem. I'm waiting for more info from him as to his handle and what bike he rides. Let my know if you reach him. Mike
19. Folks, (On Kevin's recommendation below, let's call it: Right Front Turn Signal) My 84VR MKI had an unfortunate "garage crash" the other day for no apparent reason (aside from the sudden escape of front fork air). I had a 1x4 under the side stand (so she doesn't lean so much). I'm getting ready to replace the tires, and she'd been sitting for a couple of days since our last ride. So when I say "for no aparent reason" I mean I bent down to see just how bad the tread was on the front (cracks between the tread), and as soon as I tapped on the tire, the front end dropped 3-4 inches (air pressure had dropped to zero while she was sitting-obviously another issue), and because she had that 1x4 under the side stand, she dumped over on the right side, and crashed against a ladder hanging on a rack. The impact cracked the lens cover on the driving light, and the right mirror post. So getting on with my question: I've searched all of the service and parts manuals and can't find anything about a replacement lens. The only reference I've been able to find is a diagram calling out "driving light" ... with no parts breakdown or service procedure. So I don't know if the lens is available, or if I'm looking at replacing the whole light. Either way - no part numbers are called out. Is there a part number for the lens? And where can I find a replacement? Anybody got a used one they're willing to sell? Would also like to replace the mirror - although I can live with it for now. Any input is much appreciated.
20. Just put my 86' back together and one of my favorite features, the trunk light seems to have croaked. Oddly, the hazards don't work. Fuses fine. Are they related? Thanks!
21. Just received the Signal Dynamics Light Bar and have a wiring question. My RSV already has the LED light/spoiler on the top of the trunk (I think it is an OEM accessory) and I traced the wiring from that light under the seat and up to (or past) the battery. My question is this, I can either strip some insulation on existing wiring under the seat and solder the light bar wiring to it or I could cut the wires and put in a couple spade plugs (and seal things to keep out moisture) to allow easy removal of the trunk if needed. Any advantages to either method? I'm guessing either one would work but want to get the thoughts of those that have a better handle of electrical systems. Thanks!
22. OK yesterday evening I had to ride the venture home left my suburban at the office no gas took it to work today and now I can't stop riding it its addictive ( been 20yrs since i last rode ) got my tag for it but I have a few problems that I need to fix the warning light stays on flashed twice on me last night no brake light from front lever front tire is dry rot not bad but still rotting carbs need sync it needs right mirror got to find the problem on the compressor control panel lose wire my guess is which one speakers are shot I will be doing a lot of reading in the tech library on these problems but may ask y'all for some help on things I may not comprehend oh and it needs a lot of tlc and I plan to give it thanks for all yall's help
23. Just got off the phone with the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) asking about the modulator's you can get for the rear brake lite. According to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, you CAN NOT have any device that provides a flashing red light. It goes on to say tapping the brakes is OK...so MY common sense thinking on this is that the law applies to a STEADY flash....that could be interpreted as impersonating a police vehicle. But a light that flashes 3 times then goes solid is no different than tapping the brakes to flash the driver behind...which I often do on the bike anyway. Anyway...the Sgt. I spoke to said it sounds very much like it would be up the the officer's discretion. So if you P.O'd the leo for some reason, he could nail you for the flasher. The back of my bike is lit up pretty good for running lights...but the only brake light is the factory installed rear brake light mounted on the fender. In the daylight I think it get lost so I'm thinking I'll use the reflector LED mod FlyingFool did up for the brake light and put a modulator on it anyway....and take my chances. I'd rather take my chances with an uncooperative LEO objecting to it than with John Q Public who might not see my brake lights .
24. So I noticed my brake light was on when i started the bike this morning. No problem mess with the front brake lever and off it goes. Get home this evening and the light is stuck again and wont turn off (bike running). Shut off bike mess with lever light goes out. Work lever several times and seem to work fine (gonna clean this weekend anyway). Start the bike up and hit the brake light stuck again and wont go out until you cut the bike off. What in the world would cause that?
25. DRS Fabrication has designed a durable metal, powder coated FRONT LED light mount, utilizing existing Royal Star Venture bolt holes. This is mounted low, away from the headlight and creates an enourmous amount of road illumination, as well as attractability. Combined with the Whelen LED Flash module, this allows many different, unique attention getting flashes or always-on setting. I have used a 27 watt LED light on each side of the front fender. It makes a magnificant light. The nice thing about using the Whelen LED Flash module it has the ability to a reduced light setting as well as a high light setting. The lights range from $25 on up depending what wattage, brand, size, shape, etc., each. I've seen the module as inexpensive as $33. The mount is priceless. If you're interested in getting a price on the mount, contact Dennis @ 814-360-9233 (Pennsylvania); a 2006 Royal Star Venture owner.
