    Poof

An 86-year-old man goes for a physical. All of his test results come back normal. The doctor says, "Gary everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?" Gary replies, "God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so he's fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, *poof* the light goes on. When I'm done, *poof* the light goes off." "Wow, that's incredible," the doctor says. A little later in the day, the doctor calls Gary's wife. "Marianne, he says, Gary is doing fine but I had to call you because I'm in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night and *poof * the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he's done, *poof* the light goes off?" "OH MY GOSH!" Marianne exclaims. "He's peeing in the refrigerator again!!!!"
  2. Figured there was no sense joining yet another forum. All the smart folks are here. Got a 2003 Honda Recon atv. One of the headlight is very dim. Is it most likely just need a new bulb or is that light not getting enough voltage. No, I have not yet swapped bulbs to check, so maybe I should not even be posting this yet.
  3. Converted rear turn signals to stop, tail, and turn and installed light bar for $76.00 total. Got the kit at cruiser customizing and the light bar from JC Whitney. I wired the light bar to function as tail and stop. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk114/bigpine33/016.jpg?t=1295578080
  4. I'm all about being seen for protection.. Not only is it important to put out a lot of light in order to see the road ahead of you for potential dangers, but it's also important to be able to BE seen by oncoming traffic and others by putting out enough light without blinding the already blind. If you watch a bike approaching you on the road, its the "blob" of light you see that determines how noticeable you really are.. hence driving with high beam during the day time makes you more noticeable, driving with highway light makes this blob a lot wider, more noticeable.. safer. A nice offset with the new lights installed is that gains over 84Watts back to the bike electrical system, allowing me to potentially add way more accessories if I needed to.. which I do HID headlight draws only 35W as it is a single bulb double action set up, instead of using the conventional 55/65 bulbs.. HID puts out a lot of light, bright white light that it also drowns out your highway lights.. these no longer really aid in lighting up the road anymore as the HID sweeps across the road and reach out into the darkness.. Not only that but because the HID is a cooler white light, the highway lights now have a really yellow / amber look to them.. and they no longer stand out at all.. I installed these new LED sealed beam lights on the bike and well sir, what I can tell you is that they superseded MY expectations above and beyond.. They put out 120 lumens each.. And they are also bright white colour. And only require 8 watts each from the bike.. do the math, that's a lot of watts back for the toys.. The included photos will show first what the oem sealed beam looks like on the wall.. then the LED sealed beam.. it's mounted on the LEFT side of the bike. The HID and other light covered to isolate the given highway light's light.. Notice the yellow of the right light compared to the left light.. Now the BLOB of light is much wider and discernible than before.. the dim yellow of the oem light is no longer longer lost in the HID's light.. I'll have to wait and see what it looks like out on the road at night.. how it looks when seen from the front etc.. Still more testing and trying it out to see how viable these will be for a long run.. the HID worked out superbly, now hopefully these will to.. can't see why not.. Sealed, solid state.. LED.. Hmm
  5. I've read about a couple of different places to splice in the trailer light pig-tail, but I still have one question. What do you use to do the splice. Those squeeze together quick splices, or bare wires with a heat shrink tubing cover?? I have a 5 wire on the trailer to match what's on the bike so I think a plug and play is out if anyone even makes one...
  6. My 1986 will burn out the tail light fuse when the handlebars are turned all the way to the right with the side stand up.It won't happen with the side stand down.Any ideas of what is happening? Thanks for any help.
  7. Yesterday at the International Motorcycle Show here in Toronto, I saw this new model Gmax open face helmet with some new features that appear to be good ones - you can see the helmet at http://www.g-max.com/gmax/replace-gm67s.html. One of the new features is an optional battery powered led light bar that fits into the back of the helmet and can be turned on or off and can also be synced with the brake lights by way of a small transmitter. A similar light has been available on Gmax snowmobile helmets but from a conversation with guys from the company that makes them, I am told this is the first helmet with these lights for their motorcycle helmets. I am interested in any comments on why this may not be as good a safety option for bikers as it is for the snowmobilers. In addition, this helmet has several other interesting features including a good quality internal sun visor that the rider can flip up or down, built in pockets for headset speakers and a removable chin bar plus more - and the show price was reduced 20% to $79 here in Canada.
  8. My wife bought me a couple of Sidewinderz LED light strips for Christmas for mounting under the tank to light up the engine, but there is no controller or switch of any kind - just the light strips with about 16" of wire on the end of each one. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a simple light switch kit I should get for these? Electrical is not my strong suit, so I'm fumbling with this a little. I did find this controller on the CruiserCustomizing.com web site, but still not sure it's what I need. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=49&manufacturer_ID=563&product_ID=32058&sblid_name=Street_FX_Electropods_L_E_D_Light_Kit_Power_Distribution_Module&model_id=0
  9. Has anyone tried this light set up and have pictures? http://www.chromeworld.com/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={157a816a-bf18-4300-99d6-868b479189b8}&gid={b150df75-276d-498a-b805-0be7925aadef}&GroupName=Yamaha+Royal+Star+Venture+Lights&pname=Kuryakyn+Constellation+Driving+Light+Bar&Referer=&Alias=&ptct=SGR-SR&CTitle=&
  10. OK, I've done the thread search thing but want to get the most updated information out there. Where is the best place and who sells light bars for the RSV. I have a 2010 I'd like to put one on. I hope the OEM is not the only one around but that's why I'm asking. Thank you in advance for your help.
  11. I put a set of Ponce gauges, oil pressure, water temp and tach, shortened my front forks by an inch , did the “Jason mod” on the vacuum ports at the base of each intake port, relocated the fuel filter, put a trickle charger plug on the battery, put spacers on the passing light bar and put in iridium spark plugs. Since I bought it last summer I have added Iso Grips, bag rails, spoiler with light on the trunk, RK mufflers, brake/tail light under trunk, fringe on the brake and clutch levers, All that is left is to get my seats reworked by Rick Butler. I think the mods will be done at least for a time.
  12. I am having a hard time tracking down what is draining my battery. After driving at speeds aroung 70mph for about 50 miles, while sitting at a red light, the bike just died. Can anyone please help me figure out what it could possibly be. Thanks a bunch.
  13. I have four brake light set up right now, I want to change the two, to running light instead ( the old Harley lights pictured. what color is the runnign light wire?
  14. Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes: Dear daughter, The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker .. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was a Hawaiian good luck sign. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma
  15. I've got a 1999 RSV. The brake light is stuck on. I've disconnected both the front and rear brake switch and the brake light stays on. When I unplug the brake relay, the brake light goes off. I've replaced the front brake switch, the rear brake switch, and the brake relay. The brake light is still stuck on. I've inspected the wiring I can see that's not wrapped up in the front or main wiring harness and see no visible scrapes, cracks, cuts, breaks, etc. Has anybody had or seen this problem before? Suggestions? As always, thanks for your help.
  16. Well I've always been a person that likes the clean look on my bikes and I like to keep it simple. So I removed a tail light bar and back off module that the PO put on. There were a lot of wires and relays to remove. Now once I was finished I found two wires that I'm not sure where that go. They are at the tail light area and come out of the OEM harness. One is blue and the other yellow and both have male leads. Now every thing back there work. Tail light, brake light, turns, and hazards. I'm stumped.
  17. Took my new GL1800 in for the first service seems, no one there knows if the multi information display has panel lights that work at night. All my other panel controls light up, but my seat and grip heater along with the four display buttons do not light up. Cant see them at night. Is this normal or should they light up at night. My 1st service cost 195.00 will not be doing that every four months thats for sure. Will there be any problems with my warranty if i do my own service on the bike. Took care of my 05 RSTD got that one used with 2 years left on the warranty.Just dont want void anything. Has anyone updated there navigation system, just got the bike 10 days ago first nav i ever had. Other then that this is one great motorcycle seems to get better with each ride
  18. I would like to install one of those light blue head lamps on my 89 VR. Anyone knows what I should get?
  19. Well kind of. It is new to me and not so new to the previous owner. It is a 1967 Yamaha 180 cc. I was at my wife's cousin and he had to go out in the country to pick-up a tractor, so I went along. Well we were standing there shooting the breeze and I noticed a MC in the garage. So I asked about it and the guy says they were going to move it to the shed and kind of forget about it. So I am in there looking at it and it rolled back and forth so I wheeled it out into the sun light which it hasn't seen in years. It had been dropped while they were riding it in the yard and bent the handle bars and busted a light other than that it was all there except a side cover and the chain which they located a little latter. Well after all the dickering and hemming and hawing I ended up buying the bike. I think I may have been taken though the guy I was negotiating with, well it wasn't his first rodeo that is for sure. He was in his 80's and had been around. Well I opened my wallet and negotiated that last little bit I could befor I paid him. I hope I didn't over pay to much. Is $22.00 to much?? :crying: CASH TOO! My brother-in-law thinks I overpaid and got snookered and he is always right, just ask him. Dang I hate that when that happens. Oh well something to fool with this winter.
  20. He was beside me at a red light and swithced to my lane behind me when the light turned. Traffic was slow and someone rear ended him while behind me. I saw it all in my mirrow. He stayed on his feet somehow as the bike went tearing and rolling into the other lane. Lots of bike damage but the rider seemed fine. How he rode it out on his feet was impressive. Bike parts all over the road. In one sense, he was lucky.
  21. I'm terrible at electrical work, but luckily I found someone that is very good and reasonable in KC. I don't have to do the work, but I need to select the equipment. 1) Rear lights. I have a 2000 MM with the standard back lights. I want more light. I just have the single red light in the back. Can anyone tell me what equipment I might buy for the back that would give me more riding lights and fit solidly on our Gen 2? Pictures would be great. 2) I read a lot of discussion about LED's on the front light and radio static. I would like to have better light on the head light and the riding lights. What is the bottom line on upgrading lights? I want dependabilty and good lights. I have just removed all my LED's from the blinkers because the cancelers didn't work and that seemed a lot more dangerous than the benifit of more light on a blinker. Thanks for the help. Again, I don't need wiring directon just equipment and bottom line reccomendations.
  22. I want to replace my trailer (pulled by cycle) lights with led-type of lights. i was hoping to be able to simply take the light cover off, remove the old light, and wire in the new led lights. could it possibly be this simple, or am i dreaming? if it is possible, does anyone know where to purchase the led lights?
  23. I have 3 questions. Is there a way to make my back blinkers stay on all the time like the front blinkers do. I also have a lighted spoiler on my trunk. I would like to know if there is a way to make that blink, with my blinkers. Also is there a way to make led light in the spoiler and the brake light flash when I apply the brake. Any help would be appreciated. Ironhead
  24. I'm wondering if anyone knows:icon_smile_question of any web sites that sells Smoked tail light cover for RSV's?
  25. To my wife any way, we picked up a ride for the wife tonite XLH1200 20k miles and couldn't have dreamed a better deal -- $3000 done and home. all it needs is fowards (after the Royal Star getting on a sportser feels sort of like a scooter) and more light up front. The wife is a novice so she'll be taking the beginners course first week next month wish her luck!
