TCI designations
Squeeze replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Somebody called me ?? ?? :scratchchin: :D You're right, those last four Digits are superseded Parts Number for newer Parts which directly replace older Parts. So, a 41R-82305-11-00 is superseding a 41R-82305-09-00 or 41R-82305-10-00. All Parts will fit and work on the Bike they are desigened for, lower or higher Superseed Number. The first three Digits are the Model in which the Part first appeared and the next Group of five Digits are the actual Parts Code. Therefore, the "82305" will always be the same on every Year, but to decide which Unit will actually work in Bike, you need to have the Model Code also the same. As we know, the '83 IS TCI different to all the others. You also gotta stay away from '90-'93 CDI, the Casing is the same but there's only one Pickup Coil whereas the earlier Bikes had two of them. -
I'm sorry but the Fireing Order has nothing to do with Carb Synchronisation. You have to adust #1 to #2 as #2 is the fixed Carb. Then go over to the other side and adjust #3 to #4 with the left(rear) Screw, the move the right(front) Screw to adjust #1+#2 to the right #3+#4.

1 - 3 -2 - 4 #1 is lr #2 is lf #3 is rr #4 is rf

Regarding the Gear Ratio ... One could have the Seller count the Turns on the Input Shaft to have exactly 3 Turns on teh Output Shaft. If you need 9.9 Turn to have 3 Turns on the Output Spline, it's a Venture Drive, if it takes 11 Turns to have 3 Turns on the Putput, it's a Vmax Ratio.

Or downgrade your Battery to 17AH, mount a Vmax Battery Box and Air Box to have more Air feeding the Motor. That's what i'm doing when i will have my '93 on the Lift soon. Then elevate the front End as well as the rear Mounting Point of the False Tank Cover by 1/3 of any Inch. Should fit. I'd rather sacrifice a bit of the Look for 7 or 8 Percent more Power :hurts:

Thanks Randy, you're expressing my Thoughts exactly. I to had several Comments on my Mind and decided not to post them, just in Respect to Highwaypeg and the Possibility of her Hubby reading my Comments and giving her .hi. about posting this Issue here.

You could always fit a Wire End Sleeve into the Mounting Hole and using the Brass of the Sleeve to secure the Pewter ? -
But there are good News .... I figure two, maybe three Weeks until public Anouncement.

I guess i smelled that one coming it would have been a good Deal ... I'm sorry to say, but i think you got screwed. I'd give them another two Days to "find" the Part and let them know, you'll report to Ebay about that Deal and send them a nice RED Comment.

Now you know how long it takes me to type two or three simple Sentences ...

Earl, I'm really sorry to say but that's why i put in the second Link, you know, where "CANADA_USA" on the End of the Link is to be read. :rotf::thumbsup2: Sorry there are no Pics at their English Page, that's why i placed the German Link in first Place. But no need for Compliments, I'm glad I'm able to write a bit in my "Kraut-English". I have some Difficulties with the Grammar. You should hear me speaking English, terrible, to say it at least. :255:

I use a Boehm 4 Way Dial Gauge Set since 5 Years. http://www.boehm-synchrontester.de/ http://www.boehm-synchrontester.de/canada_usa.html I check them once in a while by coupling them together and plan on adjusting if necessary one Time in the Future. :thumbsup2: The only real Thing you gotta remember, always open the Dampening Valves after use. There are O-Rings inside which flatten out over Time and you need to readjust the Damper anyway. These are Precision Instruments and they're not cheap. But as often as i use them, i have already my ROI home. I want to have good Tools when i have to rely on them. I don't care about the Money in such Case. The Quality will always be remembered when the Price is long forgotten. I have a Lot of Tools and you will find cheap Wrenches from China as well as very expensive Snap-On like Tools. The Tool has to fit it's Purpose. Each Tool, i don't care about shiny Chrome if the 10 mm Spanner is more 11.5 mm Wrench or the Box Wrench is bent like a Banana. The Lift from China lifts my Bikes not as silky smooth as a expensive American or German Product(which will basically come in most Cases from there anyway) but i don't care about how it lifts, but if it reaches the Height i need to have. Of Course some cheap Products have their Shortcomings, but i will tweak them to fit my Purpose.

No Rev-Limiter on any 1Gen. You Guys should stay away from Revs more than 10,000. Because at that Piston Speed, not only the Valves are in Danger, but the upper Eye on the Con-Rods will lengten and a ticking Noise will be heard. Louder and louder over Time. Happens a Lot on the Vmaxes, mostly actually by "Accident" there, or by missing a Shift. Not funny.

Well, actually there's no Question about the Acuracy of the Carbtune. That's because, sooner or later, there's none left. Too many Variables involved.
-
The Power is always the same, just the Horses keep getting a bit stronger every Year. Some Day, they even will keep up with the 1Gen's.

I don't like the Carbtuine either. Found my Buddies Set sticking on 3 of 4 Rods, but all were different. I use a 4 Gauge Vacuum Dial Set. Problem solved(i.e. wasn't existing to begin with).

Good to hear back and even better, Problem solved. Thanks fro your Feed Back. Now ride like you stole it. :happy34:
