4-Stroke Engines are always Push/Pull Throttle Cables. i think you need to open the Junction Box, if your Bike has Cruise Control, or adjust the Cable to more Slack at the Adjuster at the Nadlebar and the Carb Side temporarily until you got the Ends meet.

Got a good Chuckle out of it, so thank you. I'd thought exactly the same. C'mon Folks, we all know what is the right Behaviour here, we know what Don doesn't like to see and we should all try to act accordingly. I was once or twice Part of Discussions which went away, felt somehow guilty of that and therefore, i had a bad Taste in my Mouth. Would i do it again ? More a Yes than a No. It's not the End of the World and i was feeling sad because i'd love to read Comments from others to the Issues discussed. regarding SilvrT... now, he like to debate sometimes just like i do from time to time, and the Issue isn't real important to him. He just feels something wrong and starts to be the "bad Guy". Not because he's a bad Guy, but because there's got to be a bad Guy on the Block. I'm a Moderator and Admin on a Forum myself. Sometimes (in Fact most of these Times) i don't feel like i have to discuss Things with a Member. It's my Decision and i'm only responsible to the Holder of the Site, nobody else. A good Moderator or Admin won't use this Power to hold it against someone specific, or by discuss Issues by PM, but speak in public and voice the Thoughts. I was forced to post serious Threads to Members who didn't want to stay within certain Lines and got personal, and i happy to say i mustn't use my Power to those Folks. The Mods and Admin's are doing a fine Job here and there's nothing else than to thank them for their Service. Who said were living Democracy here ? A Website and a Forum are "owned" by a single Person and this Person sets the Standards and commissions his Servants. This is Dictatorship. Not that Don enforces this, but it is no other Way. Period.

http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=678091&category=Motorcycles&make=Yamaha&year=1999&fveh=18038 You don't HAVe to remove the Cover to replace the Oil-Seal, but it's way easier that way. It's not hard to do, open thes eight Bolts and lift the Cover off with a wider flat headed Screwdriver.

Me thinks Squeeze has a huge grin on his face that will NOT be removed anytime soon...... Dan Most of the Times i'm grinning, yes. But to be honest, it's not only freakin' fast, sometimes it's very near "scary fast". And i'm still NOT on WOT. Didn't got over 7000 as of now. :bluesbrother: Other Riders report they exposed Calouses on both Hands from hanging on. I first laughed about that. You know, a good Joke and braggin'. But now ... This Motor will make a wonderful Base for a Tourer. SOOOO much Power from the bottom and it's pulling like a Freight Train, on whatever Gear you selected and whatever RPM. I think you could ride out the Driveway, switch to fifth Gear and stay there all Day long until you need to come to a dead Stop at a Light or Gas Station.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation
Squeeze replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This would work even better when you make a short Tube with both Ends closed and a Fitting for the Vent Hose and a Connector to place the new Filter in a upright Position above the Tube. This would collect all bypassed Oil Fumes in the Tube and let out pressurized Air coming with along with the Oil Fumes. The Tube mustn't be too long, as wide as to fit above the front Cylinder Bank is enough. -
Squidley said the Vmax has a Michigan Plate, so it seems this Guy wasn't to far fro Home ...

Oh Folks, i forgot to add ... You sure wouldn't do that on a 2Gen Max. I'm still in early Break-In riding Procedures(250 km on the Odo), but my preliminary Findings are so far ... Arms lenghtend at least half an Inch and chicken Stripes are almost gone(3mm left each Side) without any extended Effort to do so. Foot Pegs are no high enough, lost at least 2 mm on the outher Toe Area on my Boots. I've ridden a Lot of hot 1Gen Vmaxxes, bored, EFI, whatever ... There's only one Bike that was more powerful than this 2Gen Monster. Of Course, all Findings by my personal Seat of the Pants Dyno. Your Mileage may vary. This Thing is so freakin' powerful, there on the Lake with studded Tires, there would be NO Thrust at all, just grinding a deep Groove into the Ice.

Hey thank you giving me that Hint !! :thumbsup2: I've seen this before but it's incredible anyway. I don't know if i'd like to try this. Ice and a Lot of Power on two Wheels don't go too good together. Now, a 4 Wheeler would be another Story ....

I believe the CDI is beneath the Battery Box on your Bike, but this shouldn't you concern at the Moment. You could download the Shop Manual from the 2Gen Tech Section and wade through the last Section - Electric - and look if you can find a Starter Cut-Off Relay somewhere in the Item List on the Wiring Diagram or even in the Circuit Descriptions on the Pages before. If there's one, your Bike Bike will most likely also have a Diode somewhere. Goose will be back on this Issue, i'm sure about that. I'll could have a glance tonight when i'm home, i have no 2Gen Shop Manual here in the Office Computer.

Brain, why don't you change your Name acording to Sturgis. Until you're on the Way to Sturgis, keep your Handle, when your back from Sturgis, change it to "txfromSturgis" until you're over half Time to next Years Sturgis Bike Week ? :whistling:

I'm not sure if you'll find this usesfull but anyway ... I'm not sure about Handling the Signals for these safety related Switches on a 2Gen. On a 1Gen or a Vmax, there's a Starter Circuit Cut-off Relay, which is operated by those Switches. Maybe this is different on the 2Gen, because they handle many Things inside the CDI(Igniter Box). If such a Bike would behave like this, i'd go and check there and the related Diode in Diode Block. You should check with the Wiring Diagramm to find out about this.

Finally found oil leak!
Squeeze replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm glad you found the Culprit... :happy34::happy34: But on a lighter Note, if you would have used the Bolts which belong there, it wouldn't have leaked from the Beginning ... :D I think the Bolts on the four far outer Corners are 5 mm longer than the others. On the Vmax they are silver while the others are green coated. Don't remember about what the Ventures have there at the Moment. -
Finally you saw the Light !!

This will work somehow, but the given Physics are not allowing this Conversion operate on a good Level. This for someone who like to have bragging Rights on a home made EFI, nothing else. The Motor will start and it wil run through the Gears but don't expect a somewhat good Mileage or even the Power the Motor delivers with Carbs The Injectors have to sit in an sharper Angle to the Airflow to distribute the squirting Fuel in the Air Flow. If you mount the Injectors at 90 Degrees to the Air Flow they will squirt Fuel onto to the opposite Side and the Fuel will flow down the Intake instead of being mixed into the Air and generating a good Mixture. There are a Lot more Reasons for calling this a bad Joke, but i won't get into them. If someone is willing to buy into such a DIY Project, it might be way cheaper to build a Rig and place the Injectors above the Carb Throat in the Airbox. This will cause a poor low End and mid Raange Response but it will be more efficient than this Offer. And big Power on the upper End. Next Thing is you need bigger Air Intakes on a EFi, which doesn't happen because you keep your Butterflies on the same Size. Also what he states is not true. There are a Lot of Fuel Pumps with integrated Pressure Regulators but this doesn't mean you don't need to have one on the Fuel Rail. The Wildbros EFI is sure Way above this Write Up Style Project. And 499 Bucks for the Parts delivered isn't a Bargain at all, to say it nice. A bad Joke. If someone might be interested, there's a used EFI on Sale on my german Vmax Board. It's a complete Set with 45mm Throttle Bodies, a Vmax Tank with the Fuel Pump mounted, fits Bolts on except for the Fuel Pump on a Venture. Price is 2000 Euros. http://www.wildbros.com/EFI.html calls this Set VMX45E at 4250 USD for new Set.

on a Sidenote ... this is a first one. I very seldom answered someone's Question 58 Minutes before it was even asked ... Especially when there are 6000 Miles inbetween the two of us ...

The Problem are a flat Spots on the Tire, once you got one, it will continue to express itself and therefore wear out quicker than the Rest of the Tire Thread. This goes for Tires on every Vehicle, but more so on a Motorcycle. Be it under hard Braking or under Acceleration, every sudden Loss of Grip will expose the flat Spot more and more. A Motorcylce has usually 2 to 3 Percent Slippage, so you can't get around that Slippage even on our heavy Touring Bikes. The only cure to this is to take the Wheel off and turn the Tire Tread it off to even Surface on a Tire Balancer or similar.

You might loosen the four Acorn Nuts (14mm Wrench) on the final Drive and this may release the Axle.

Dang Bill, i've heard there was someone setting a new Track- and World Record at the Texas Mile. I guessed it was you on the 14 ? Now, later i've heard that this was 246.78 mph. On a Turbo-Hayabusa, a naked Busa that is ... :D Then I figured it wasn't you. I'm so sorry for that. But it was Bill Warner, a Maxxer which made it in the 200mph Club on a naked Vmax, naturally aspirated, no Charger, just plain brute Vmax Power !!! http://wildbros.com/
