  1. Well I finally got most of my honey-do list done and I took a little time to get my vacuum pistons unstuck and check my diaphrams, everything went good, except the very last phillips screw on the last carburetor, I had to use a pair of vise grips to break it free. No holes in the diaphrams. My question is, is there anything I can do to keep them soft and in good shape so I won't have to worry about them for some time? Now I just have to worry about the smaller diaphrams and the floats. I think if I don't have any problems with them, it shouldn't be no problem to use these carbs after a good going through.
  2. Well, this is the first and only profile for this site. But the problem I'm having is getting a pic from this phone to my profile, I've tried.
  3. The reason I don't have an avitar is, since I got laid off a month ago I canceled my regular internet and have been accessing the web with my cellphone. I can still get my email, internet, or some form of it, and cell service cheaper than using the computer. So either the smartphone isn't so smart, or the user isn't too smart. That's why I'm sort of hoping my user profile would take care of that problem. btw do u guys no how hard it is 2 keep up with your puters with this little keypad? LoL
  4. By the way shouldn't my bike, if it had cruise, have a button to set it? Because it doesn't anywhere that I've seen.
  5. Well I guess my problem is due too the fact that I've never had a bike with built in cruise before but my 1000 hasd 1 throttle cable and my 900 has 2 but no cruise.
  6. Huh, 2 throttle cables? Are they setup as 1 operates 2 carbs and 1 operates the other 2? Or are they setup in a push-pull fashion? I thought I broke them but the 1 on the backside of the handle bar seems too be fine, the 1 on the frontside was still attached but out of it's cable channel in the grip. I can push that cable but it won't let me pull. And that is why I'm asking the 1st question. Or is it just broke.
  7. Well I guess this thread is dead. Time to start another one
  8. Long handle bar like a jack handle or 2 x 2. . Pry up on braces between the carbs carefully. That worked pretty good. I bent 1 of the drain hole though, but me thinks me could straighten back out. Thanks for the help! Do the #'s on the butterflies mean anything?
  9. I've got the carbs all the way off except getting them out of the manifolds. HHHeeelllppp PPPllleeeaaassseee!
  10. Well about 4 years ago I was driving for Beaver Express making deliveries all over Hutch and South Hutch, so I know that area pretty well. Nice to know there is someone close!
  11. I've thought of doing that. Then maybe I would have enough good parts between the 2 sets to make 1 good set. Thanks Freebird that's a good suggestion. Well, I did get a belch out of them back when I got the bike home, using a battery charger and starter fluid. If that didn't happen I was just going too tear her down and do the ebay thing.
  12. Well since I'm new hear. My name is Jeff , I live about 20 miles south of Wichita KS on 81. I own an 83 XVZ12TK, an 81 Honda CB900F Super Sport and an 80 Suzuki GS1000L/G, so as you can tell I like the older bikes. I rescued the Venture this past winter from a non-mechanic for a measly $600, it has a little over 37k on it. He said the rear shock wouldn't hold air so he hung it from his garage rafter by a chain and attempted too take it apart he took the air box off and left the carbs exposed for 4 yrs and where he had it at had a leak in the roof and dripped onto the throttle at the grip and when I gave it a twist I heard and felt a snap snap so now I need cables as well . But what I need to know is, where I can find a carb rebuild kit/kits? I've always redone my motorcycle carbs in boiling water then blew them out with an air compresser, sprayed them out with starting fluid to remove access water, let them sit for a day or 2 then put them back together and to this date I haven't had any problem, but with these carbs being exposed for 4 years that might not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. SSL
