Bill, don get hooked, Dan's only fishing for Compliments. Sure, he's a good Guy in my Book, but he's sore at the Moment and his Mood isn't in best Shape as he sees those Pics from MD, only Thing he needs is some Attention and a Kick in his Behind from Time to Time. Dan, i didn't see any whining as of now.

That's an easy Solution. Spiegler makes a Thumb Master Cylinder to fit a the Handle Bar. The invented this for Racing Purpose, but it a long known Solution for handicapped People. www.spieglerusa.com

New LOUD gear whine - opinions?
Squeeze replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you turn the Axle while measuring the Gap between final Drive Casing and Swingarm Flange ?? Maybe your Axle is bent and you'll end up with almost no Gap when you turn it 180 Degrees. A bent Axle is not as bad as it sounds, because the Axle will straighten out while you tighten it down and the Axle is not really "the Axle" where the Rim runs on. -
............Gap ..... 0.08.. ... 0.09..... 0.19....... 0.18 ..........Shims....278... ....282........275 .......278 ....new Shim... 270.... 275 ......OK.......OK Calculatting is easy. You have a Gap 0.08 and a 278 Shim, the Goal is 0.15 Gap, Difference between 0.15 and 0.08 is -0.07. So, you subtract 0.07 from 278 which is in at the Moment and come to 271, there's no 271 Shim, so you choose 270. It's better to keep the Valves on the loose Side. The Clearance will get tighter on it's own.

The normal, flat View is different than the Bird's Eye View. That's IF that available for your Area.

The Back Lash you measured is foremost Tranny Back Lash. The Amount depends on the Gear you selected. Sounds like a normal Amount. -
Well, Dan, I'm sorry to hear. So, would you please do what the Doc said and get that Surgery done ? I know, don't answer that, I'm guilty as charged myself in this Matter, but there's no Sense in making this Ordeal longer than it should.

Bummer warped rotor

MKII rear Rotors are dished Rotors, which are very seldom in the Yamaha Line, almost unique i think. That's why they are expensive and hard to get. -
Fuel feed problems PART II
Squeeze replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm not sure about your Bike's Wireing and Function, but when it's like the 1Gen Vmax, the Fuel Light Sender Unit doesn't work. On a Vmax, there's no Gauge, but only a Fuel Light, if the Light lits, you have to switch the electric Reserve Switch to "Res" to get the Fuel Pump running again. Now, you mentioned a Gauge on your Bike, this isn't in contrary to the above, because the Gauge is a independent Sensor with a Floater inside the Tank. The Floater Unit is measured for Resistance(400 Ohm when Full, Zero Ohm when empty to the Gauge Cluster. The "Res" Light is driven by the Fuel Pump Relay. The FPR sends a Voltage (around 5 Volts) to the Sensor. This Voltage cause the NTC Sensor inside the Tank to heat up. As long as the Sensor is covered with Fuel, it is cooled by the Fuel and therefore the whole Circuit remains on higher Resistance. When the Sensor is not cooled anymore(by low Fuel or the Bike leaning over), the Sensor goes to almost Zero Resistance which causes the "Res" Light to lit. When the "Res" lits, the FPR stops feeding the Fuel Pump (by taking off Ground from the FPR) until the "Res"-Switch is switched, which causes a second Ground Connection by another Ground Wire to the FPR. Sounds complicated, yes but, you need to measure the Wires. I'm sorry to say, but since i have limited Knowledge about your Bike, i might not be helpful in the deeper Diagnose on your Bike. This needs a 2Genner to take over. -

Here's a Pic with the Controller Box on it.

I'm totally with Lynn here. Where can i sign ?? I'd like to add that synthetic Oil makes the Clutch slip, at least on a 140 hp Vmax Motor, but that's also very dangerous to say. No Discussion meant or opening a Can of Worms here, it's only like i know it. My Opinion, so to speak. That is telling me you DIDN'T get used to it :crackup:

All Fuel Passages could be blocked. I'm not that familiar with the 2Gen Carbs, but i think a a thourough Clean Job in a Ultrasonic Cleaner is in Order.

That's right Bill, there is just a tremendous Pull when everything is fine. From Idle to Redline constantly raising Power while Torque stays pretty much the same. There's the Difference to all the other Bikes, either they pull up from Idle and fall their Nose halfways through the RpM Range or they do nearly nothing from Idle up to half Way and then the Power kicks in. Your 14 is sure a great Bike, but there's not so much get up and go until you hit 5 kRpM. This is the Characteristic of those I4 Engines, and that's where the Legend Vmax takes Place. Rough, shear Power from Idle to Redline. The new Max isn't about Speed, Speed is only the Side Effect. It's the unbelieveable Acceleration where it's all about. This Beast pulls and pulls and pulls. When i came home from the Vmax Meeting three Weeks ago, i made a Stint with 100 mph Average(!!! but not so legal on this Stretch of Autobahn at Night), 40 Minutes to empty the Tank, but it was pure Pleasure. I'm not so much into riding full Speed all the Time on a naked Bike but .... I'm mounting a bigger Tank these Days

MKII to MKI Frontend swap-
Squeeze replied to Mark Koontz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, you need a Relay to feed the Anti Dive Solenoids. It's a fused Line from the Battery to the Relay and from there to the Solenoids. Just pick up the Brake Light Wire, and feed the other Relay Coil Post from there. The other Wire on the Solenoids goes to Ground. -
I disagree, if you feel the V-Boost seriously kicking in, there's something wrong. I had my Bike on the Dyno two Years ago and made two Runs, one with the V-Boost on and the other Run without V-Boost. The Motor made 80 kw on teh rear Wheel without V.Boost and with V-Boost on, it made 88 kw on the Wheel. Made 10 Percent more Power and around 3 or 4 Percent more Torque, iirc. But anyway, i said it before and i say it again "You shouldn't have sold her !! !! " Or, even better, bought a '09 VMAX !!
