  1. First, I need new tires... What is your recommendation for brand? Second, Is it possible to go to 150 on the back? Is there anything to be gained by that change? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS:680:
  2. I agree, the rear isn't worth thw trouble- Also, the "new" front rotor ARE a little bit smaller in diameter. But the calipers are MUCH bigger and the disks have slot in them (but not the hollow design the the early ones). I'm making the switch because I wanted better brakes. I had such poor spongy brakes (when I got the bike), I didn't want the anti-dive contributing to the hydraulic problems. I'm also dumping the split brake system (for the simplified "regular" brake system used on most bikes. My system "part" are based off the RoyalStar brake system. PS- Is there no "fuel level" gauge on the Venture (plain wrap)? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
  3. No- I'm broke, man. Does anybody have a "center section" they would be willing to part with? (I'm trying to get ready for Star Days in July) Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS:Venture:
  4. I think you might be right, Randya- There's no "cut-backs" in my system. And I now think those recieving parts are broken off. Do you think there's some kind of heater hose (flexible) that I could slide over the outside of this joint? I'm trying to button it up without taking this exhaust out of the bike... After all, I don't know what I might run into- Thanks, mk.
  5. I just put on the '87 fork legs on my '83. But one is leaking oil out the little drain screw. [The bike isn't even off the stands yet!] Are these screws supposed to have any little gasket washers on them? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
  6. I can't see how this connection is supposed to happen (front pipes). (My bike came to me with fiberglass fabric and rolled-around shim material.) My center-section (cross-over) maybe incomplete, but it comes forward about 1.5 inches intil a slight bead (and no further). The pipes come down and butt against the little stub pipe. I just bought the (fiber?) sleeves and new outside clamps... But the sleaves seem too small to go over the beads on the center section. What am I missing here? HELP? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
  7. Some months ago I was asking about this swap- I am nealy complete now but need some advice on wiring the (electric) anti-dive soleniods to work. Do I simply use the brake switch to feed them 12V? Do I setup a relay? Do they need a different voltage? Any help is deeply appreciated, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
  8. Can someone tell me where the fuel fitler is supposed to be? I don't see one on my '83. Thanks, Mark Koontz (Wichita, KS)
  9. Does anybody know if a V-max exhaust system will fit an early venture? Thanks, mk.
  10. I will buy the right fairing piece. PayPal? Total to Kansas? Thanks, Mark Koontz 1229 Threewood St Wichita, KS 67235
  11. Hi There- I need a the right fairing half (outside). Does it have most of it's tabs? Thanks, cost sounds OK. But physical condition? Let me know,
  12. I'm surprized no one has said "under the fairing.":scratchchin: The Victory Vision has 2, 3 gallon tanks up under the fairing about even with the tripple trees. Has anybody really put the '89 front end on an early venture? Thanks, Mark Koontz (Wichita)
  13. 1) Do you see any way to enlarge the gas tank (or carry another one somewhere)? I would really like 6-7 gallon total capacity. 2) Front suspension seems real complicated with anti-dive, split brakes, small calipers, and I'm not too wild about the 18" skinny wheel. Can this be simplified allot (somehow)? I just bought a 1st gen and I'm looking to modernize & simplify it. Thanks, Mark Koontz (Wichita) PS- Also looking for driver floorboards.
