  1. Well, i guess i have my own Way to make Friends forever .... :255::255:
  2. I'm sorry, but you gotta save the Chips and Beer for some Time in the Future ... Please Folks, gim'me a Break . I'm still german, when i throw in a quick Comment, and it sounds weird, don't feel offended. My English is somewhat twisted sometimes (maybe every Time) and not anyway near to be called "good enough". I'm still trying ... since Years ...:think::bluesbrother:
  3. You could extend the Trailer towards the front End, mounting a Wheel Chock over the Trailer Tongue. If you'd use a hinged Wheel Chock, you could ride the Bike into the Chock, get off, tie the Bike down and you're good to go. http://www.powerplustools.de/_image.php/image/_images/large/image.php?image=_images%2Flarge%2FPPT0377_A.jpg
  4. Oh sorry, i wanted to second Randy's Statement about how stupid locking with the Steering turning full to left is. I called the Yamaha Boys STUPID, because of the Way they desigend the Steering Lock on the '09 Max. I'm NOT calling Randy Stupid, why would I ??
  5. That's the only Way to lock up the '09 Max. Stupid ... I checked to drill another Hole on the left Side of the Fork Yoke, but, there's not enough Meat on the right Side, whereas the left Side has extra Material casted for this Purpose.
  6. You drive both Nuts at the same Time, but use the lower Nut to move them. It's a standard right handed Thread, so, from bottom looking upwards, you should move the Nutz(Pun intended) counter clock wise.
  7. The whining Noise which goes away when you pull the Clutch, is the Bearing in the Pressure Plate. It's a 6003 Bearing, and it's easy to replace. Yamaha has a hefty Price Tag (about tripple of a good industrial Brand Bearing) on theirs, but it's heat treatet and should hold up longer than a "normal" Bearing ... should ...
  8. Glad to hear good News. Now, let's hope you didn't ruin the Starter Clutch due to your draging Starter Gears. If so, contact danob11, he'll have a once in a Lifetime Solution for you.
  9. I did, and even used the Venture today !!!
  10. I'm not saying this wouldn't work or not, honestly don't know. Besides that, it could open up some Leeway for reduced Valve Clearances when done now on a Engine which has a Lot of Miles on it and had nothing like this done before. I'd be quite hesitating over such a Treatment, and think twice about what Ghost I am going to call ...
  11. Mostly by the Main Axle and meshing of the primary Gears, if the Crank would move inside the Bearing, you won't hear a grinding Noise, but just one loud "BANG" and then Silence. There's a Bushing inside the Clutch-Basket. It's only a vague Guess, and i won't bet ANY Money on it, it's just to check before taking up on the major Job. Not funny, as you know.
  12. First and only reported Sighting of a VMAX in Wilderness was in Italy in March 2008, Yammi officially announced the Bike as a special Announcement on June 04, 2008 to be ordered from July 01, 2008. So, it's not too late for a 2010 Model as of now. The Vmax Base is good and would easily allow to modify it to a long Distance Tourer. Rear Frame is bolted to the Main Frame, Steering Angle/Front Fork is already more Touring than anything else.
  13. I'm quite sure there will be a new Model in Future, with the V4 Motor and everything else much more contemporary. I won't bet any Money on which Year it will come out, maybe 2010, but could easily be 2011 also. I won't bet any Money on the Style, though. If you don't want to wait, buy a '09 VMAX for 16,00 USD and add a Fairing and Luggage Compartment as of your Liking and Style. Might be the same Outcome pricewise. You won't be disappointed. Only Downside is the small stock Tank for a Tourer, but I fittet a 20,5 Liter Aftermarket Tank to my '09 last Week. Working on the Luggage Situation, 'cause i'm heading to a Meeting next Friday. Got a quick and dirty Solution with a Trunk Rack from my '99 Max under Way. Shall be done by Wednesday.
  14. Most likely the Shift Fork is bent a little Bit, the Fork is worn a little bit at the Tips and the Dogs are not sharp anymore. While riding under Stop and Go Traffic a Lot, the Shift Drum isn't also the best anymore. It's a Combination of everything. The Thrust Washer won't be the Main Culprit, but I'd replace them anyway.
  15. Sounds like one of the Bearings of the Tranny Output Shaft is gone. The big Bearing behind the angeld Gear Cover(left rear Cover) is a big Noise Emitter. You wouldn't believe this. I had this Bearing locking up on my '99 Max, but only at one specific Spot and the Motor sounded like you're hammering it with a Slegde Hammer, much much worse than the hammering Sound of a missing Starter Clutch. I had to turn the dismounted Bearing for about 2 or 3 Minutes to find the locking Spot. In Fact i was only playing around with the Bearing at the Time, because i didn't find anything bad inside the Motor. Just sitting there, smoking and Thinking while turning the Bearing meaningless until it locked up. I still was in some Disbelieve until i had the Engine back togehter and the hammering was gone. But it could also be in the Area where the primary Gear mesh to the Crank. Without the Tranny in Gear, there's no Load on the Clutch Basket and therefore the Meshing is unobstructed. Tranny in Gear means Load and therefore the Clutch Basket is pushed to the Side and making Noise. Not very likely, but worth checking before you tear the Motor out and apart.
  16. Well Bob i wouldn't use "MAP" Sensor. Because somebody would think we'Re talking EFI here ... But you're right, it IS a MAP Sensor.
  17. Save the Cleaner. Take a Look at the Output Spline, this Thing is gone.
  18. or you just type to get this
  19. Output of the Tranny or at the angled Gear ?? Whatever, that's a rare failure to the V4 Motors. Some Vmax had to do repair there, but i think, the Cause is abuse.
  20. Well, usually, whatever Route you go to dismount the Bearing, it's Trash after you got it off the Steering Stem. But why do you want it undone if you want it back in Place ? There's no Room for Error, this is an really important Part of the Chassis. When you're already in there, you better replace the Bearings and be done with it for Years. .... just my 0.02 US$
  21. No Fear, it will go in place while you tighten down the Acorn Nuts. Watch out for the small Spring on the Tip of the Pinion Gear.
  22. You're welcome ! Let me know if i can be helpful. I live some 200 mls away from Spiegler, Germany, the Home of these Products and I'm a long know Customer to them. I have two Spiegler 8 Pot Calipers on the Front of my '99 Vmax.
  23. Good Job, making Shims sounds pretty much like Job one of our Machinists would be up to ? Maybe Laser Cutting stainless Sheets in different Thicknesses would be the best Solution ? I mean, machining such a big Hole in to a thin Sheet isn't funny and will mostly likely end in multiple Tries until one Piece is done.
  24. Not a seperate Wire, but the Ground Wire
  25. You should run the fused + Wire from the Bike to the Light and connect it to the + Wire or +Contact. Then you run a ground Wire to one Lead of the Switch and the other Side of the Switch to the Ground Wire or Ground Contact of the Light. Once the Magnet is near the NC Switch, the Contact is operated and the Light goes off. Remove the Magent from the Switch Area, the Contact goes in unactuated Postion which closes the Contact and connects the Circuit, the Light will lit.
