  1. You never will do any "Abuse" to your Motor going along my Recommendation. You probably even can't imagine how much real "Abuse" those Motors can stand without any Damage. Those Engines are tough and they take real hard beating for a loooooooong Time until they even show any wear. Ever been to a Vmax or Streetfighter Meeting ? Some Folks burn out 20 Tires per Day without harming anything except the Clutch. THAT is beating or abuse, but as long as you don't overrev the Engine, don't let it run boiling hot or get on it when the Motor is cold, you'll never ruin the Engine. Others let their Max Bang a half Day ... You know, rev it up to 8000, Killswitch, Full Throttle, let Throttle go, Killswitch, BANG, Rev it up, Killswitch, full Throttle, let Throttle go, Killswitch, BANG and on and on ....
  2. I like the Logo a Lot(even if my Home ground is not seen), and i, personally see no Reason for having our Logo a distinct Relationship to our Motorcycles or Motorcycles in general. This would make it drown somewhat in Ocean of other Patches and Logos and whatnot else we display when we out there. Yes, this Site is about Motorcycles, but to be honest, it has been, it is and it ever will be much more than Motorcycles for me. This is extended Family for me and this Family doesn't need to show what it's all about. On the opposite, if some looks at the Logo and can't see what the Logo says, he might be teased much more and asks me, what I'm wearing. Happend to me more than once.
  3. Not to mention a very important Thing .... When a heavy dose of Sea Foam has settled in the Carbs for some Time, ride it like you stole it .... Which means, no 4th Gear, no 5th Gear on a 2Gen. Get on it and let the Rev Limiter do it's Job once in a while, let it pull and suck Fuel through every Fuel Passage and Fuel jet there ist inside. Accelerate in 2nd Gear near Redline and when it's clear behind you, let the Throttle go for some Seconds. Creating such a Vaccuum causes also a good Vacuum inside the Carbs and helps loosen all Crud and Varnish and get them out of the Passages. This helps also keeping the Plugs clean and working.
  4. Oh, I'm sorry. Seems, they don't sell the smaller Classes in US.
  5. Well, it doesn't help in getting used to those Floorboards .... Now, what are you waiting for, Riding Season will come to an End sooner or later and you won't get a good Dollar off Season ...
  6. Well, it's not me, but here's a short Video about and epic Event with an even more epic Rider on it ... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dicLScVIsbc]YouTube - Jay Gleason and a 2009 Vmax named Eleanor[/ame]
  7. Well, i thought you already lost a Lot when you decided to get a 2Gen ... and the Rest when the 1Gen was sold ...:bowdown:
  8. Well, imagine a bigger Washer without a Hole in it ??
  9. A C-Class is a full Size car, not the biggest, but full Size. There are smaller Cars from Mercedes, like A-Class and B-Class. btw - Smart is also Part of the Mercedes Thrust. One shouldn't mix up the Demolition of the Vehicle with Safety. Smaller Cars are destroyed on Purpose in a Hit, sacrificing the Car to safe the Passengers. That's why they are complete Wrecks after a Crash. A bigger Car with a Lot more Safety Room to demolish and a bigger Mass will sure look better after a Crash, but you can't take that as an Indicator for the Safety of the Passengers during a Crash Situation. That said, i don't like the Smart either, not only because it's to tiny, but also for several other Reasons.
  10. Well, at least it was the Royal Class Dog House... :whistling:
  11. Ok Rocket, you got me .... I'm a cheap Swabian AND i really like to keep my Promises. So what else can i do to stay comfortable with both ... Yo, right, making Promises which won't cost me any Money ... And to you Earl ... Why is it you're trying to steal the Fun from me ?? :stickpoke: Just kidding, of Course ... :rotf:
  12. You might check the Connector between Handle Bar Switch and Main Harness. Maybe there are some Posts corroded and not giving Voltage out to the Igniter. Can you check Battery Voltage across the Battery Post while short cutting at the Solenoid ? Might be, the Battery (even when new) is dead and the Voltages drops a LOT, Lights go dim and the Igniter wouldn't even start to work ?
  13. Get over here and i show you Autobahn unlimited ... and how long and fast a 1Gen can run .... I'll even buy you a Steak after you quit whining ... :thumbsup2:
  14. Yes, we tried both Sides, but when inserting from the inner Side, the Cam was just not high enough to get the Shim out. It worked from the outer Side, but only after hollowing (grinding out behind the Cam Profile). It was about 1/100 mm away from pulling the Camshaft. That was an 1 Hour PITA-Job only for that single Shim. It went from 285 to 255, from what i saw there, the Valve never closed fully. btw I'd recommend using a 32mm Socket to turn the Flywheel directly, not to use the 19mm Head of the Flywheel-Bolt.
  15. 3462 is what i use for Vmax and 1Gens. You probably need to hollow out the Back of the Cam Profile because there are Protrusions in the Casting of the Cyl.Head which can prevent full depressing the Bucket. I needed to do this, because the Valve Clearance was so tight, we couldn't get the Shim out of the Bucket without modifying the Tool. I'll take a Pic tomorrow.
  16. Congrats on the new Scoot and if you work on the Steering please read here ... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38086]Steering Neck Bearings - VentureRider.Org[/ame] It's important to open the Pinch Bolts on the lower Fork Yoke before tightening the Bearing. Don needs to include this in the Write-Up some Day.
  17. Well, i you don't mind tinkering a Bit, you could take out some of that Tilt by adding Spacers between Swing Arm and final Drive on the upper two Bolts of the final Drive Casing. This will cause the final Drive to lower and thereby lowering the Differential Height between left and right Side. I think you could add about 1/4 Inch up to 1/3 Inch at max for a short Ride, just to see it this makes a Difference. Of Course, you need to undo rear Wheel and final Drive for doing so. This won't cause any harm at the final Drive or Drive Shaft Splines, but you can't ride for a Lenght of Time or Distance with such a Setup because Force Distribution between Swing Arm and Final Drive isn't right. If this works out, you could go forward and find a better Solution.
  18. Well, it's hard to say, because US has a completely different Tax System and Life Style, but basically, i think you're right. At least with all the Bailing out from our Gov's, the US shelled out a Way bigger Amount of Cash which will finally lead to equal Situations.
  19. Oh, i don't think it's just Germany. Be it US, Canada, France, UK, where ever. Hard working Taxpayers are screwed everywhere, one or the other Way. I'm far away from crying over that or comparing for better or worse. For me, it's just the Fact on its own. Working more than a half Year for "somebody else" is just not right. In the Middle Age, the Sovereign took "the Tenth" for Taxes. How glad would i be, paying only twice as much .... One should think this Amount of Money should be enough, but not so ...
  20. german Taxpayers work for their own Pockets ... A remarkable Date and Time !! :255::250:
  21. As i wrote already in the other Thread, it's possible to exchange the fixed Swing Arm Pivot Bolt (left Side is a fixed Bolt) against another one from the right Side, which is adjustable Bolt with Secure Nut. When you're going this Way, you're able to push the Swing Arm more to right Side and even out the Alignment. If you nee to push the Swing Arm to the left, there's a longer Bolt available here from a Suspension Guru. I think, the Bolts are the same for all the V4 Model's, at least at the Thread and Lenght Specs. Swing Arm Bearings are the same as well as the Lock Nut on the right Bolt. This Knowlegde comes from the Vmaxxes, and it's an easy Task there, because the Max has Stereo Dampers on the rear and it's easy to align the Dampers after the Adjustment. I don't know if that's gonna work out on your Bike, because i'm not too familar with the 2Gen Suspension and the Possiblity of adding Spacers and such. But it's worth a Look. This won't help if your rear Wheel is not upright inside the Swing Arm. Then either the Swing Arm is bent or the Frame has an serious Issue.
  22. Done
  23. This Father was a wise Man !! I like it very much
  24. Don't you just love when Plans work out ??
  25. This Gauges aren't the best Idea to begin with, because the Vacuum at which your balancing the Carbs is on the End of the upper Range of Gauge and therefore, they could be damaged very easy during the Process. You need gauges which deals at least with 0.6 bar Vaccum to stay in on the safe Side.
