  1. Check this out. http://www.wimp.com/buildit/
  2. Are you talking about the "smoothing condensor" that is shown inside of the fairing? See attacment for clarification. If that is the one I cannot say I have seen it or looked for it when I have split the fairing, but with the the mess of wires, cables and connectors in there it could be easy to miss that is for sure. If that is not the one you are talking about a screen shot or parts list reference could be helpful for others to locate it.
  3. While on a ride today I had a close encounter with a Turkey Buzzrd, the silly thing took off as I was approaching and flew back across the road. Managed to go between the windshield and me, his wing was right in front of my face , had to duck to miss him, good thing I did not have a passenger, because they would have collected the bird for sure. My buddy riding behind me said it was so close he thought I had hit the bird, but we both survived to talk about it.
  4. Watch this video from Russia. http://www.wimp.com/inrussia/ I would be changing my pants.
  5. Good dea we should get together one day for a ride.
  6. Doug My Kromewerks came with clamps supplied, I am not sure what the step clamps are exactly. Keep us posted on how you make out.
  7. Doug, Could be if the slip ons are used instead of new , they were clamped onto pipes previously and maybe the inner diameter is closed up a bit from that, would not be all that noticable. If that is the case the expander idea would work, any decent muffler shop should have one. On the brackets see below for a copy past I saved from a few month ago, this should work. I am only a few hours away, let me know if it would help for me to come down on the weekend and take a look. Krome Werks will sell the brackets that are used to mount their mufflers to the Venture / RSTD. Their mufflers were designed originally for the Road King so they should be a perfect fit for your pipes and bike. Below is the email I received form Krome Werks you will need: 1 each 680855, bracket left 1 each 680856, bracket right 2 each 2099801, nut plate 680855 $10.00 680856 $10.00 2099801 $3.00 Prices are less shipping (UPS ground is standard.) We accept Visa, MasterCard or Discover. To order, call Monday through Thursday 9-6 central. Customer Service Khrome Werks div. D.S. Manufacturing, Inc. 8. Doug, This was a lone rider, no GW with him and definitely not a Midnight.
  9. Saturday 10 Dec 201 about 1:30 PM I passed a Venture, I believe it was a 99, going west on County Road 42 in Lake County just outside of Altoona. I was heading east on my Blue/Black 07. Was it anyone on here?
  10. The configuration of the coils on the original Royal Stars are the same as the Venture, the caps can be removed from the wires, but the wires are molded into the coil.
  11. but I think I like them. I decided to go with the 7 inch lights instead of the 11 inch ones. There are not many attach points on the side rails so I decided to use the shorter lights to keep the cantilever effect to a minimum because I only used one attach point. Right now the inside ones are set up as brake lights (red), the out board ones are set for turn signals (amber), as soon as the divider circuits arrive I set them up as dual intensity for running / brake / turn.
  12. I prefer Nikons also, I have the D60, but I think it was well north of the $500.00 mark, but Nikon has SLR COOLPICS that should be under $500.00.
  13. Mine does that also, I usually end up tweaing the idle rpm up just a bit, that seems to help it stay a little more stable, but it still jumps around. I am not sure if there is a fix for that.
  14. Walt, I have my hard copy, I can scan it to PDF on Monday at the office. If you have a specific queston call me 386-314-6945.
  15. There is a common issue that crops up on the original Royal Stars, that causes odd noises from the front and is hard to track down unless you know where to look. The bracket that holds the cooling fan is known to crack and break regularly on those bikes, the resulting noise can be very disturbing when riding. Reach in behind the radiator and try flexing the bracket that holds the fan, check it from both the left and the right just to be sure. Repairing it requires pulling the fan and bracket, I fixed mine with a few bits of scrap aluminum flat plate, machine screws and nuts, and a helping of JB Weld just to be sure. just another idea you can check off the list.
  16. For what it is worth Yamaha Sports Plaza has the I simple from Yamaha on their web site for $168.71. See the link below. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/459/1035/188431/1/0/0/1/4/90/69/331/isimple-gateway-ipod-adaptor.aspx
  17. Had a similar issue with a dealer that I normally do not do buisness with. We were at his location doing a function and I needed some parts, so being the nice guy I am I said I will give him my buisness, for hosting the event. Checked and the parts were not on the shelf, but they offered to drop ship them to my house with no shipping charges. Well a week goes by , 10 days nothing, so I call. "Yes sir your parts are here , we were wondering when you were going to pick them up", was the reply, so after a bit of tongue biting, I reminded them of the deal and that I needed the parts with in the next 4 days so the bike would be ready for a trip I planned. They did man up and send the parts next day, but it goes to show you how easy things get goofed up, even when you are dealing with them in person, never mind emails or phone calls.
  18. Almost an automatic, the FJR was offered for a few years with the option of an electric clutch, no clutch lever just a shift lever or thumb paddle shifter, you could select one or the other as you rode. I thought it would hard to get used to, but when I took a demo ride a few years ago, it was as easy as could be, just cannot blip the throttle at red lights because as you get ready to take off , the clutch is engaged by engine rpms, and blipping the throttle will land you in the middle of the intersection.
  19. Ruffy This will sound a bit off the wall, but I had a similar issue on my 98 Tour Classic some years ago. Turned out to be a bad run/turn signal bulb. I could not find the issue so just for grins I swapped bulb left to right and the problem followed the bulb, changed the bulb and the problem went away. I never fully understood it, but it was fixed. If you have not tried smething simple and silly, try it cannot hurt anything.
  20. No sorry I do not have any thing mapped up in the panhandle, just around central Florida area.
  21. I am just up the road frim T-ville, in Edgewater, try touring the center of the state over in Lake, Sumter, Pasco, Hernando and Marion counties. Very nice scenary and actually a few hills with some twisties if you know where to find them. Mount Dora is a nice place to ride to and poke around. I have some routes mapped out on PDF for various areas, send me your email address and I can send them to you.
  22. Peter, Prayers for you and your wife, how sad it is to loose a child.
  23. You can never get all of the old oil out, the folks on this site are correct when they say 4 quarts is to much. I have been riding Royals in one fashion or another since 98 and have always done all of my own oil changes. Always used 3.5 quarts with a filter change, never had a problem. Sometimes after a prolonged high speed run on the interstate I will see a few drops of oil from the vent tube, but that is the only time. Do make sure you are checking your oil level with the bike up right, the level should just at the mid point in the window with the bike up right. With the bike on the side stand there should be no oil visible in the window.
  24. Prayers for speedy healing sent.
  25. Not sure if it is still available, but the other day a fellow in South Florida was offering a Venture Pillow top and passenger seat for $150.00 over on the Delphi forums.
