  1. Did I put that ride idea in your head..............Thats the ride I like the most.............love riding along those small rivers and backroads of La..............Man I really need to ride down there and spend some time down there. Its been at least 12 years since I have ridden down there.
  2. So you ate in Kenner, thats where I grew up and lived for most of my life........really miss the area, but couldnt go back now for anything except to visit, still have quite a few friends that live in Kenner. I take it you ate close to river rd, on Williams Blvd. Any chance you can make the Memphis ride in 2 weeks? Meandog and Kbran are going to make it.
  3. Which bike were you riding when you had your accident?
  4. I to have had my noggin saved by a brain bucket as some refer to call it, I dont ride without one, even before helmet laws mandated wearing one, in my younger riding days I thought it was cool to wear a helmet, some people put their comfort ahead of their well being. A friend of mine laid my Z1 down back in the 70's and if he hadnt been wearing my helmet his head would have had the big hole in it instead of my helmet, he had tons of road rash but he lived to tell about it.............:322:
  5. Todd, aka 86er, stopped by today to pick up the tranny from Clays bike, which we replaced, and stayed a while and chatted. He tried out my V star 1300 while he was here. He told Charlene and I about his trip and how much he enjoyed it, sounds like the kind of trip I would like to make someday.......but not alone, I would especially like to get to S. Dakota and see Crazy Horse momument. Thanks for staying and visiting a while Todd, Charlene and I enjoyed your visit.
  6. More than one of us has had to go get the Muffinman because of tire trouble, he had a flat on his way to my house one night and I had to take some tire sealant out to him so he could limp it in to my place, then he stole the rear wheel off of Clay18's bike to make the trip back to Savannah..............:stirthepot: Muffinman is definitely hard on tires...........
  7. I didnt know that the Canadian Dollar was that inflated....:stirthepot::rotf::rotf::rotf::think::think:
  8. Well if you want to take the Cherahola and ride the Dragon, you can stay at Vogel State park, they have great campgrounds( Vogel State Park) From there you can ride the Cherahola and The Dragon and continue on right to Knoxville. Now if you want to go straight up into NC, you can pass on Vogel and the Cherahola and go straight up 123/441 into Dillard, Ga. and eat at the Dillard House Rest. Its right off Hwy 441 in Dillard, the food there is the best, and all you can stand to eat. Im sure Randy can clue you in on some good eating places over in his neck of the woods. Have a great and safe trip. The weather is turing cooler up here so bring your warm riding gear. Leaving jacksonville monday am. headed for wichita. planning on going north thru georgia, carolinas, and tennessee. would like to go thru vogel and cherohalla skyway. looking for a scenic route north or west from let's say knoxville. two lane only (no dirt). randy, lewis, any help on eating places , campgrounds would be greatly appreciated. thanks, jim
  9. Lyle, where did you eat, river road ride is one of the best rides, another good one is hwy 22 from Sorrento all the way up ot I 55..........Makes me a little homesick..
  10. I had one of those Hondas in my younger daze..........
  11. Your are 200% right there Bill, anytime somebody needs something done or needs a part or some kind of help, people here step up to the plate and renew my faith in mankind, with all thats bad in the world, there is so much good here to counter act it................what a breath of fresh air this group is.........
  12. Even though I dont do that to my bike, I ride year round, what I would do is add stabil to the tank, top it off , so condensation doesnt build up, put the battery on a battery tender, or put it on a trickle charger every 20 days or so to prevent it from running down, stick it in a corner and cover it up, should be ready to ride soon as the warm weather sets in...........and of course keep it out of the weather and a good coat of wax wouldnt hurt before you cover it...........oh, and change the oil before you park it. That should do it.
  13. I posted this in another thread, so to make sure you get this I am posting to you again............. Do you have any idea how many people will be riding with you to Memphis, I need to give the hospital a heads up by next weekend so they can be prepared for us.............. Getting real excited about this, it means a lot to me that I have other VR members going to support this.........Especially you, you have been there everytime I needed something or planned something and that means a lot to me........Thanks brother...............
  14. Do you have any idea how many riders that will be coming with you, I need to give the hospital a heads up on the count so they can be prepared for us..........Looking forward to this one big time.............

  18. Steve you must have missed Rooster at Vogel, he showed up with a sidecar. attached to his 2nd Gen.......check with him.......
  19. The one he makes for Muffinmans bike will be pink to match his chaps and vest..........:stirthepot:
  20. Jeff, Clay came by the house to pick up the receipt for that battery we bought for the bike, wont hold a charge, and while he was here I asked him if he had received the case for his tranny and he said he needed the gasket so I gave him the one I had here along with another gasket that I had left over, he is going to redo the clutch, oh yeah I also gave him some of my spare clutch parts, I still have the rear end but not much else.........Call me when you get a chance.
  21. I have a little over 1000 miles on mine, like you the buffetting is pretty bad, but thats the only drawback, with the exception of the pipes, would have loved it to have two instead of one and in matte black with chrome billet ends, that would match up real well with the blacked out engine........other than that.......WOW!!! I still cant get used to dragging the floorboards, it still startles me everytime it happens............how about posting a pic of your cut down windshield.........I really want to do mine........:bighug:
  22. Bill, I got the same impression when I test drove the Roadstar and the VStar 1300, I was amazed at the power that engine has........I havent really opened mine up yet, and I dont really feel the need to, I can tell by the way I ride it now and how much throttle it has left that its way quicker than the Roadstar 1700. Im loving every minute of it.............
  23. I have them attached to the info page, but here are the attachments.........
  24. You are to be whipped with wet noodles for not posting a pic of that great idea.........RULE # 1.........pics, pics. and PICS>>>>>>>>>>>>
