  1. Agreed, Stabul and premium gas! Also, when you start it over the winter, make sure you run it for a fairly long time. If you only run it for a minute or two, condensation (water) will form in your exhaust. Ever see a car exhaust drip water in the winter?? No need to tell you what the water in your exhaust will do if left standing...
  2. Yah!! Sounds believable until you get down to the sting part about using the specific "Finance" agent!!! Yes, someone will fall for it I'm sure. They make them stupider by the minute... PS notice the guy's last name?? Add a "Y" to the end of it!
  3. Yah! I put my relay in the battery area on the plastic shield in the back. Just drilled a pilot hole and fastened with a sheet metal screw. I extended the horn wires, and no, it doesn't matter which wire goes on which lug. I then hooked up a 14 gauge red lead from the battery to the relay, and "Tested" the relay by hitting the horn. You should have seen my lok of bewilderment when the other fairing horn beeped, and I'm looking at both the stock horn AND the Stebel laying on the bench!! All I expected was for the relay to click! Anyway. wired the red lead down to the horn area and a black ground 14 gauge wire from the battery to complete the circuit, McGuivered an aluminum bracket to mount the horn, and the rest is history...
  4. I agree, try a different battery. Jumping sort of proved it unless the starter is drawing waaaay too much current under load. MC batteries ao not have the current capabilities of a car battery. Beg, borrow, or steal a known god MC battery and replace (don't jump) and see how it starts...
  5. I KNEW there was another one!!!
  6. If you can borrow a known good battery try it. Wouldn't be the first Oddesy battery to go bad under warranty...
  7. Not positive on this, as mine won't be triked until next spring, but I believe the answer is yes, but not if you have the optional floorboards mounted. I'm sure somebody like Cougar, etc will have the definitive answer...
  8. You are correct, it is not a Royale. No antenna, no radio, no CLASS or CB...
  9. I remember a year or two ago someone else painted a 1st gen yellow with black highlighting and it looked great. Yours looks fantastic, Bob!!! What color is the fairing pieces you have???
  10. Don't let Dano see it, it's in his state...
  11. For a minute I wsas wondering if you did something from an episode of "Leave It To Beaver"
  12. And it's gonna be a very long wait seeing as the 2nd gen's couldn't go quite fast enough to enter the worm hole! Sooo, whatcha want to do first?? Dealer/vendor tents? Look at all them purdy Hardleys? Wet Tee Shirt contest? Oh, wait, I see a snack bar... Suddenly, they spot a Venture parked and notice it has a VR decal on it. Wonder who that is, they think. Hey, what a great idea, we came from the future, bet we can predict for him something that already happened on the site to us but hasn't happened yet for him! Let's see just whose Venture it is! As they approach the venture they are surprised to find out that it is...
  13. I'm in - BUMP! That's my lovely wife modelling in the classified...
  14. Looks GREAT, Annie!! That's one of my favorite tricks for hiding scratches, put a decal over it! Dents, on the other hand, get hidden with chrome pieces...
  15. Almost looks like a negative of my new one only you have more chrome than mine does! Love to see it in person some time!!
  16. I know THAT feeling, Buddy. Came back from Viet Nam 165 lbs of pure mean, and now I'm 230 lbs of pure happy...
  17. NEVER use the words "sense" and "common" together in the same sentence because it isn't any more...
  18. I like the effect of the different woods! Are you going to stain it?
  19. Per above two posts, Ain't it great to have friends, Mini?!!?
  20. I'm not sure if I will still be off or not. Antibiotics are starting to work so I may go back Thursday or Friday, haven't decided yet. My number is in my profile if you want to call...
  21. Ummmm, could be a corroded contact on the headlight connector itself. Make up some baking soda paste and use an old toothbrush to clean up both the connector on the bulb and the harness. Rinse with plain water, let dry thoroughly or hit up with a hair drier, and see if that fixes it. The fact that it becomes less of a problem the longer it's on tends to make me think that with use, the resistance from crud and corrosion starts to break down and work normally...
  22. Yup! Ordered a pair myself a week or so ago and now I'm just patiently waiting for them to show up...
  23. There are a few other normal maintenance items you may want to consider as well. First, when's the last time you changed the air filter? Try a new one for general operating conditions. Secondly, seeing as you only state an idle problem, the intake valve body throttle plate may be dirty and in need of some attention. While you have the air cleaner off for replacement, waste a can of valve body cleaner on the throttle plate. Just follow the instructions and see if that makes a diffference. The O2 sensor may be getting flaky and giving erroneous info to the computer, but yes you would think it should trigger a code, but not always. They are a tad expensive, but after you do the intake service I mentioned, retry to sensor and see if you have the same symptoms or not. Hey, a can of seafoam or similar will also clean up your fuel injectors which can also result in poor performance. It's always a good idea to add a can of injector cleaner every time you change the oil to keep the motor running smoothly...
  24. No, just Bronchitis, so I guess I'm not as contageous as I feared. Still off from work since Thursday, and will probably go back in a couple of days. I'll be out on DB to save vacation time for next summer, like MD, the International, and maybe some other M&E...
  25. No, I'm parting out all the spare parts I bought for Goldie but never used or needed. What a fool I was thinking I'd need spare parts for a 1st gen...
