  1. Yup!!!! The old " crash bar pushed into the elbow" leak!! Kind of a common problem as Earl (Skydoc) can attest to! Best repair or replace your crash bar. Replacing the elbow should fix it forever...

    Dunlop E3's

You should be waaaaay happy with the E3's both for handling and wear!!
  3. Yah!! Makes me wish that mounted sub machine guns were legal...
  4. I agree!! Actually leaving it in gear when parked is a desired thing, and as far as starting in gear, the only downside is you can not start the bike with the kickstand down, I think...
  5. Yah! Dingy beat me to the punch!! Also, if the float in the master cylinder sticks it will also make the light go on, bt the usual problem are those 2 wires going from the M.C. to the CMI...
  6. Yah!! Compared to some of the roads we took with Mother 2 years back going to Asheville, by the time we got to the dragon, it was pretty tame and almost boring...
  7. Yes they will...
  8. Lookin GOOD!!! Don't expect much more than 40 mpg. Carb sync is absolutely a necessity
  9. Lookin' GOOD!!!
  10. Well, B2, I spent the better part of this evening crimping wires and dressing them up. Hopefully will be done with the wiring by the weekend. No time to work on it Wed or Thursday, asnd don'y get home until 5PM... You betcha there wil be light up pictures next week...
  11. Actually, Don, I am seriously considering springing $100 for one of those cameras mounted on the licence plate and act like a rear view mirror. I'll just mount the LCD display somewhere on the dash, perhaps on top of the windshield where a rear view mirror normally goes...
  12. Now that is just waaaaaay too cute!!!
  13. I ended up installing flat washers and used 2 part plastic epoxy to "weld" them in place. A little sanding and a new Sharpie made them look presentable...
  14. OK both switches, yours and passenger, just supply a ground to the PTT circuit. They both feed into the same common wire, so something is wrong with your switch, probably either poor contacts or you lost your ground...
  15. Had to cut 2 square holes about 1" x 1" for the electrical connector and 2 screw holes. Don, with radar sensors I won't need curb finders...
  16. OK the pimping of the Hannigan is in full swing. Here's what got done this weekend...
  17. For some unknown reason, all Venture speedometers seem to read about 5 mph high...
  18. Awwww, man, call the cops, another robbery...
  19. I'm "old school" and still define "packing" bearings by forcing grease inside the bearings via the old glob of grease on your palm and push the bearing with your other hand until grease oozes out of the top. Just smearing grease around the outside is IMHO not packing the bearings. That being said, some grease in there is better than no grease. Removing the bearings is a pain to say the least! On the '84 we ended up cutting the race to get the old one out when we replaced them. Upper bearings come out pretty easy but lowers are press fitted onto the triple tree. If I am just repacking and not replacing, I like to thoroughly clean the bearings with gas, kero, or any suitable solvent and blowing them out with air and let them dry for a while before repacking...
  20. Yum!! I like 'rm battered and deep fried...
  21. Give the bike a bath with WD40...
  22. Yah! Those locks can get jammed up easily, and the keys are flimsy! You will be best served with a ton of grapuite in all the locks and some silicone spray over all of the moving parts! Bent a few keys on the locks but thankfully never broke one...
  23. Gee Earl, I was just going to mention the Deka batteries you are selling!! I have an Odessy and am very happy with it but the Deka is actually slightly better according to specs and testimonies, and a whole lot cheaper...
  24. I think I may have a set of passenger grab bars left unless I already sent them to someone else as filler for a flat rate box. I should have a set of front crash bars as well. May have foot pegs and brake pedal, etc. PM me your addy and in a few weeks expect a package or two. Actually, it's amazing what a lot of elbow grease mixed with chrome polish will do! For the REALLY bad areas add a sheet of scotch brite plastic scrubby, but it will scratch and dull the chrome somewhat... I have 3 years accumulation of parts bought off of Fleabay, many pieces worse than what I was trying to replace!
  25. You may have a problem with the bushings on the swing arm and A arm for the rear shock. They may be seized up a little. They don't get any kind of lubrication, and several members have drilled and tapped holes for zerks fittings so you can add grease. Unfortunately there is no easy way to test this outside of jacking up the bike and removing the rear shock. Good winter project...
