Would anyone be interested in something like this? Guess I should be a little more specific. I'm checking into having a bunch of these made & was wondering if there would be enough here to warrant it.

I am. I am. Here's the jacket I've got from Motoport/Cycleport. I love it, and I've got these pants.

When I did my research, I decided on Warm n' Safe. Now I only got the gloves (love 'em) because I have Cycleport (Motoport) pants and jacket made of kevlar mesh with waterproof and thermal liners which is good enough for the weather around Seattle.

Charging iPod While Playing It Through Cassette Deck
awsmsrv replied to awsmsrv's topic in Watering Hole
"They make cords that plug into the bottom of the IPOD and the other end plugs into the accessory plug." Yeah, that's what I've been using, but it doesn't charge while it plays. Alright, guys, got it. Everything works. Got the cigarette lighter power adapter plugged in, got the male to male headphone jack plugged both ways. Now the Nano charges while I listen through the stereo speakers. Thanks.- 4 replies

Charging iPod While Playing It Through Cassette Deck
awsmsrv replied to awsmsrv's topic in Watering Hole
OK. So, with that adapter I'd need the USB cable (that came with my Nano to connect it to the computer) that plugs into both the adapter & the Nano plus another cable to go from the headphone jack to the accessory plug in the dash?- 4 replies

How have you connected your iPod to charge while it's playing? Is there a cheap way to do this? I don't want the wireless connection.

I've read here that the hole behind the driver seat is the perfect size for a cigarette type power outlet, however, in looking at the powerlet brand, it needs a 1.125" hole & I measured the "perfect size" as .875". What brand will fit this hole without modification? Well, 1 more question: I'm not very good with modifying electrical stuff, so, how exactly do you modify the white plug near the battery that I've read about to work with a power outlet? And is it already fused? Thanks.

I believe those that have the whine are in the minority. Remember that you will usually hear negative comments first. It must be human nature. I don't have the whine. I've also installed the shorter leveling links, which does raise the seat a bit, but, does make the bike easier to maneuver at parking lot speeds. I also put the medium Clearview windshield on it (still had to cut it down 1.5 inches) with the vent so I can now see over it. This bike is the Cadillac of touring bikes, IMO. Doesn't get much smoother. Take the rpms up & it really goes. Enjoy.

What is the farthest distance you have ridden in one day?
awsmsrv replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
A little over 2 years ago, I was returning home from San Diego & made it all the way to Southern Oregon before I called it quits at about 850 miles. I actually didn't feel bad at all. 2 years before that coming from the same place I went maybe 750 miles on my old V Star 1100 Silverado & was definitely ready to stop. The RSV made an amazing difference to me at the time. Now I'm used to the comfort. Like THAT'S hard to get used to. -
I'd love to do it, but, Saturdays just aren't good for me. Glad to see you setting this up though. I remember you trying to set this up back in late spring, so, I was hoping for an August Sunday. Guess there wasn't enough interest. Anyway, one of these days I hope to meet some fellow VR members. Have a blast.

+1 I always wear them, as well. I can also hear the radio much better. My wife and I have the Scala Rider Q2 and can hear her voice a lot clearer, too. I do change them every day. They say you should change them after every ride, but, I use the same pair home that I wore to work. And who cares what others think about the plugs. My hearing is more important than worrying about funny looks from those who don't get it. I also wear a do wrap under the helmet and sometimes get funny looks, but, it helps keep the helmet liner cleaner longer (no nasty odor).

That's for a 2nd gen. I believe he's looking for 1st gen levers. Doing a quick (not thorough) search, I couldn't find any.

I've got the Clearview Medium with Vent & Tint, but it was just a little too tall still, so I had another 1.5" cut off and now it's great. There is a little more buffeting now (not much), but now I can see over it. I prefer over rather than through. Your first downpour will convince you of that.

Checking the oil level

2 Questions: 1) Where do you get a telescoping mirror? (Or did you make it?) 2) Got a picture of it? Thanks. -

I hung mine from a hole underneath the middle of the bike where a centerstand would go.

Is that number available for us to see? Or did you just do a manual count?

Same thing here, never had one fall off. Never comes loose. No tools required. -
About 40 on reserve. I average about 5.25 gallons per fill-up.
