Mike, You are close enough to Oberlin, OH that you really should consider coming to my annual Maintenance Day on June 2nd. We have a great time. -

I've seen several of these with over 200,000 miles and no major issues. I actually saw one at a MTA rally one year that had just over 400,000 miles on it. Again, he had experienced no major issues. -
Yes, he is doing OK. Just needed a little break. I can tell you, I miss his around here. Not only his great technical input but his friendship. Hopefully he will be back soon.

I ran the original Commanders, not the Commander II. They were great tires except for being noisy in the curves. They would howl in the long sweeping curves. The Commander II is an entirely different tread pattern though and I have no experience with them.

I found the link: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/05/15/law-firm-probing-unsolicited-calls-disguised-as-political-opinion-polls/

There was a story about this on Fox News this morning. I can't find the link now but it was discussing how some telemarketers are getting around the do not call laws by pretending to be doing political surveys.

I think that the Chinese scooters have gotten much better over the past few years but if it were me, I would be watching Craigslist, Ebay, etc. for a good used Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, etc.

I am really sorry to here the news. I have watched my daughter in law go through that twice now and know how heart wrenching it is. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I always use the Channel Lok pliers. Very easy and no reason to buy a filter wrench to do the same job. I use 440s.

Sounds great to me. Can't wait.

Very nice Eck. I'm glad that I'm not the only one here with a "girly truck". I hope you love it as much as we do so far. Really a nice riding vehicle. I just learned that 2013 is going to the the last year it is produced. I like leather but I didn't have the money to buy new and the only used one I found around here with somewhat low miles and leather had a very light tan...almost white...interior and I didn't care for that. I tell you though, after driving two different Kia Sorrentos for the past few years, this thing feels like a monster truck in comparison.

I don't see how it could work if you just bolted it to those tabs. There would be nothing to stop it in the upright position. Here is a thread that shows how to install the ones that I used to make. You can see the adapter that I made for thrm. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1427

That old OWL is just trying to hurt my feelings. He knows how sensitive I am. I did get ripped off in that it has no cassette player. What's up with that? It does have an in dash 6 cd changer though, MP3 input and Bose speaker system. Stereo actually sounds fantastic.

A couple of years ago, I traded our 2004 Kia Sorrento for a new 2011 Kia Sorrento. The '04 was a 6 cylinder but when I bought the 2011, you had to go with a much more expensive package to get the 6 cylinder so we settled for the 4. It was fine for the most part but I bought a small fishing boat a while back and even though it's only a 16 1/2 ft. deep V aluminum boat, it gave the little Kia a hard time. So....I decided to upgrade the Kia so something with a little more pulling power. Believe it or not, gas mileage is close to the same when not pulling anything and this actually gets much better gas mileage when towing. So....here is my new toy. Avalanche LT, 5.3 V8, AWD, all the bells and whistles except for leather interior. Bought it used though. One owner, GM certified, new tires and etc. I think we are going to really like it.

I have seen VERY FEW Ventures that would not be worth $300.00 just for parts alone.

I would expect a bad coil. For some reason, right rear coils fail more than the others. Mine did exactly as you are describing when the coil went bad.

I had a similar problem on my '99 that I chased for a good while before I finally found it. Mine was caused by corrosion on the antenna base. The '99 had a terrible antenna. It was bad enough that it was one of the few changes, maybe the only change, that Yamaha made to the bike for the 2000 model year when they went to a different style antenna. The mast is a press fit on the the stud on the antenna base. They would develop corrosion on that stud. I was actually able to twist mine and pull it off the stud and that is when I found that there was a thin layer of oxidation that was preventing it from working correctly. I replace the antennas with Firesticks and have never had another problem with them.
