I'm not going to waste a lot of time in this reply because it's not the first time that such a question has been asked and I've responded to it before. I've also fielded questions and/or comments about this in private emails. A couple of times over the years, I've gotten emails from people saying things like "you are ripping people off, the Internet is supposed to be free". I always respond the same way, the Internet is NOT free. SOMEBODY pays for it. It is true that there are a lot of websites out there that are free to the user but SOMEBODY is paying for them. They are either paying for it out of their pocket or by covering the site up with ads. I keep ads to a very minimum here. I posed that question and choice to the membership here long ago and it the very vast majority of members preferred the modest yearly fees rather than all the ads. There are also other benefits to having a membership fee. That is spammers. Only supporting members have access to everything here. Things like the members list, assistance list, ability to place classifieds, etc. Most spammers will not spend even 12.00 per year for access to those things. I have owned up to this in the past and will do so again now for anybody who still wonders. After many years, this website IS making a small profit now. It's not a lot of money and after paying hosting and etc., I can assure you all that I am certainly not going to be able to retire for many years. In addition to the hosting and other costs, I also have to pay federal and state income taxes. The IRS looks at this as a business so I also have to pay self employment taxes. It adds up to more money that you might think and takes a huge chunk of what little the site does clear. That's OK though because I didn't start this site to make money. The fact that it is making a little bit is a welcome bonus though. Like most of you, I work a full time job and run this site mostly in the evenings. I travel almost weekly so spend a lot of time in hotel rooms and much of my evening and early mornings are spent taking care of business here whether it be updates to the software, reading emails, etc. I am not exaggerating when I say that I spend about 25 - 30 hours per week MINIMUM in activities related to this site and the VentureRider club. So, I hope that is adequate explanation to the question. The question really doesn't bother me at all. The fact that somebody would sign up here simply to ask such a thing, especially with his own admission that he really doesn't care, tells me enough about the person that I really wouldn't want them as a member anyway. It also bothers me a bit that another member, trial or otherwise, would put a third party up to asking such a thing. If they were afraid of being "flamed", they could have sent me a private message or an email and I would have gladly answered their question. I'm not so sure about their character either. One last thing. You brought up "free market" and "socialism". Do you even understand what those words mean? You going to "free" sites where somebody else pays the bills for you is your choice. There is no way that this site is not "free" market" though. You DO understand that you were not FORCED to register here and are certainly not forced to become a supporting member or stick around. You are free to buy the product or not. That is truly free market. So, that's all I have to say about this and I thank you all for your support. Don

I honestly don't think that there is a "best" year OR a "worse" year. They have all been pretty much the same. Very few changes. I think it comes down mostly to your favorite color and the best deal you can find.

I've rejected the need for an Ipad for a long time now but Dano sent me this video and now I finally understand that they DO have a purpose. I still think that there are cheaper alternatives but at least I understand. http://www.snotr.com/video/8965/

I voted also. I have to say though. Even if I didn't know Mini and had no idea who that baby belonged to, she would have STILL gotten my vote. What a doll.

Erie Canal Cruise & Brunch At The International

I just signed up Eileen and I. Did it on the right date this time. I screwed up the first time and signed up for the Niagara event which I think we will also do. I show 22 signed up now. -
By the way, that is not a new feature. It's been there for a LONG time. Also, I just sent you a friend request. If you don't accept it, my feelings will be hurt.

If you move the catalytic convertors here, you can't pass the e-check. They look under the car with a mirror to make sure they are still in place. You can actually remove the mufflers with no problem but not the cats.

When I click on "open contacts", I get a list of people that are on my "friends" list and it shows whether each is online or not. I'm not seeing any of these issues that you or Cougar mention. I'm using Firefox 14. I also tried it with Internet Explorer 9 and did not see the problems with it either.

Could it be the synthetic oil???
Freebird replied to BigLenny's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I would say that the synthetic oil could have caused it to start slipping. I use synthetic (Mobile 1 Racing) in my '99 and have since about 2000 miles. It is likely though that your spring was weak and the addition of the synthetic was just enough slicker to cause it to start slipping a bit sooner than it was already going to. -
All the 289 Mustangs I ever saw were V8s.

I just signed Eileen and I up. Sounds like fun. Come on folks...get on board. -
No, they are different so it is not a direct swap. I have seen reports of some people doing some slight modifications to make them work but I do not know the details.

Glad that it's finally coming to an end for you. We look forward to your visit next year and I think that to commemorate the occasion, we'll give you a special souvenir, MINI-MUFFIN. You can take her home with you.

The photo of the motor appears when I click that link. I just had to scroll down a bit. It is NOT the Venture motor though. Somebody screwed up.

What's the function of these covers?
Freebird replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine doesn't either. They are laying on a shelf in the garage. I don't think that they really server any useful purpose the the engine looks cleaner without them. -
I don't have one on the bike now but have used them in the past and they work very well.

I wish it was that simple here. The market share is much higher when the consumer has no choice. There is no place around me to buy gasoline which does not contain ethanol. About the only place you can buy straight gasoline are some of the marinas and they are too far away and the gas is very expensive at them.

I agree with you. What as ripoff to the consumer.

HAHAHAHA...I've got a MOLE! Now you have to figure out WHO it is and WHO you can trust.

One more question on pipes.
Freebird replied to Flash18's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I may be wrong because I haven't searched in a long time but as far as I know, BUBS is the only one that makes a full set for the RSV. Not sure if they would work for the RSTD or not but they probably would. -
OK...just sent my money for tickets. Come on folks, this is a great trailer that COULD be yours CHEAP.
-
Yes, it has been tried and that method has been used in an emergency situation. I've never done it but from what I've read, there is not enough fuel pressure to keep the bike running correctly at highway speeds but it will run.

OK folks...we need to keep an eye on Grump. He obviously made the mistake of staring into her eyes or something and is now in the "trance". It may be too late for him...try to save yourselves.
