  1. I have used the J&M as well and the were fine, but, the speakers are really REALLY big and takes alot of work to get them to fit in your helmet. ie: cutting out foam. We recently bought the scorpion transformer helmets and I purchased the IMC ones that were made for the Scorpion helmet. The IMC ones fit better as the speakers are not even half the thickness of the J&M ones. In my opinion, they have better sound quality too. There is only one downside to the IMC ones and that is if you are running a stubby shield or no shield, the wind noise is louder than the J&M ones. I ran with the small 8" smoke shield in town and for travelling the tall clearview shield. My solution was that when I ran the stubby shield, I turned the intercom volume down about 3 notches and all was well. Hope this helps.
  2. you can get a new one from yamaha for around $40 bucks or so. fyi
  3. Joined a couple of years ago and have found it very rewarding. Even the ones where you need the dark sunglasses for "allergies". Just did a welcome home today for a local National Guard Unit coming home. It is awesome seeing the families rush to greet them. Did one of the largest funeral escorts last weekend. Westburo had threatened to be there and the local community (Holland, MI) came out in droves and lined the street all the way from the Church to the Cemetery (about 5miles I would guess). Had over 600 bikes!!! It was an awesome site. Here is the link to the video of it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZGtBbsukQI]United States Marine Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price Funeral Procession - Holland, Michigan Pt.1 - YouTube[/ame] P.S. I'm the one in leather on a bike....LOL:rotf:
  4. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that: Except mines a 2013
  5. Now you have done it.....asked for opinions on tires...... and it begins......:rotf::rotf::rotf:
  6. Ok I have over 400 miles on it now and can give an update on how it goes Pros: Very easy to ride at low speed and on the curves. Sound system is very good even at highway speeds Plenty of power for passing Lots of information from the onboard computer The adjustable uppers bring lots of air to my torso and face. There are plenty more but theses are the ones that stood out to me. Cons/things I'm not sold on yet: Cable clutch-its pretty stiff setting a stoplight. Handlebars are a little to straight to my liking, but, by the end of the weekend they feel alot better. Lots of heat on the bottom of my left thigh. Keep in mind it has been in the mid to upper 90's all weekend. Mirrors are crap....going to buy the Arlen Ness black teardrop ones Engine is a little weak on take off compared to the V4. Belt drive....I'm not a huge fan NO CASSETTE All in all I am very happy and glad I made the switch so far.
  7. Yeah it is very very nimble at slow speeds. Not to shabby at higher ones either. I took some curves today that on the RSV I would run 50 or so on and looked down and I was doing 65 and didn't realize it. Nice at speed you do have the power to pull out and pass without alot of downshifting.
  8. NO they are worse...kinda tiny with a big rubber ring holding the mirror lens in place....buying the Ness Flat Black Tear drops ones ASAP...LOL
  9. Yeah I noticed on the test ride that the power is there just different than the V4 on the Venture. And your right its around 2500 when it really takes off...once it does though you got all the power you want/need.
  10. They don't shake at all...Harley has a patent on the engine design(flaw:rotf:) that makes them shake and sound the way they do. The Victory is very smooth and enjoyable to ride.
  11. Sorry Rickster. EVERYONE knows that Black is FASTER!!!
  12. Thats suprising Yammer...but then again....this could eventually be a First Gen!!!
  13. Well to be honest I was very happy to with the Venture UNTIL I hurt my back and then the top heavyness started getting to me. The Victory is so much lighter feeling and very nimble at slow speeds. Thats what motivated me to move on. I have owned 6 motorcycles up to this point and they have all been Yamaha's so other than the weight I was very satisfied.
  14. Well I promised pictures of my new ride. Turns out waiting for the color I wanted I got a 2013 instead. They just released them last week. The only difference is that Victory is trying to come out from the Polaris shadow now and have redesigned the logo. I think the logo is better and very nice. I will be hanging around here and leave my info on the assistance page. This is a great site with great people and I appreciate all the help I have gotten either by asking or just researching all the great information here. Hats of to Don for keeping it so great!! Oh and it hasn't rained here in Michigan in over a month and I was saying it was because I haven't had a bike. Well guess what, I got rained on while riding home! Go figure. The drought will now cease.
  15. I had this happen on my 2006 but luckily it only jammed up on one of the internal latches and I was able to pry up the lid some. I then was able to get a coat hanger inside and after hours and hours and hours of messing with it, I was able to free it up. I was very careful from that point on and didn't pack much in the saddles...
