  1. Folks, I'm thinking that we have a pretty good general location in mind. Sounds like a decent sized group of folks willing to do the work also. We'll let the discussion continue a bit longer but I think we are close now. You guys might want to start talking among yourselves a bit and determine who is going to be the leader.
  2. LOL...it's OK now. It is back.
  3. OK, I didn't pay the bill so they turned the lights off. I WISH they would send me a notice when it is due but they never do. So, I have paid it so it should be up again soon.
  4. It's not too early to start discussing where we should hold the 2013 International. I even thought about not having one at all as it seems that many prefer the regional meet and eats but I got a good bit of feedback in NY and everybody I talked to would like to see it continue. So, where should we have it? Now remember, there may be a lot of great ideas but the final decision has to take a lot of things into consideration. Primarily, WHO in the area wants to head it up and has people close by to lend a hand. It is a lot of work. I will start it. I have thought about going back to the Hub in Arkansas because it was a great location and Randall and Debbie did a wonderful job for us. I also thought about the Texas Hill Country. Very nice area but it can be VERY hot down there in the summer. I considered having it here in Ohio but I think it is too close to where we had it this year. Maybe I'll think about Ohio in another year of two. The floor is open. Let's hear your ideas.
  5. Orange. It is also listed in our classifieds here. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4114&title=01-rsv-trike&cat=4
  6. HEY...I said "YOU only remember the pretty ones". I didn't say "ME". Now go back to your corner.
  7. Michelle and TERRY.... How come you only remember the names of the pretty ones.
  8. Terry and Michelle Armstrong. Great people.
  9. Eileen and I got home around 1:00 today. I wish we could have stayed another day but had to get home to take care of some other business. I just want to say that Big Tom and his FANTASTIC team did a wonderful job with this years rally. They had so many prizes to give away that I thought they would NEVER stop calling numbers. Everything they did was done top notch. The rides, food, prizes, location.....I can't think of a single thing that could have been done better. We are so fortunate that we always have such great people taking charge and handling our rallies. For any of you who have never put one together, you have no idea of the amount of time and energy that goes into these things. Dingy already made an excellent post about Pioneer Motorsports so I'll just quickly mention again that they are GREAT folks. If we all had dealers like that, you would never hear the horrific dealer stories that we often hear. So thank you to all involved for making this years such a great success.
  10. You set the default programs within your browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, open it and then click on "tools", "Internet Options", "Programs" tab and then "Set Programs". Then choose the program or software that you want to use for email links. Other browsers have similar settings.
  11. Well said Dingy. They were absolutely fantastic to us. If I were buying a new bike today, I would buy it from them, no doubt.
  12. That's the exact one that I have. Great little pump and well worth the money.
  13. It is pretty much the same as the valve stem in a car or bicycle tire. Very easy to replace if that is the problem. Should take about 5 minutes.
  14. Do I know you. Not unless you are paying.
  15. A big thanks to SeekerFor who sent this list to Marcarl who sent this list to me who uploaded it for you. whew.....anyway, it is a complete Yamaha parts list for the 1984 Venture. I hope that some of you find it useful. I have uploaded it to the First Gen Tech Library: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=701545#post701545
  16. This is the official Yamaha Parts list for the 1984 Venture XVZ12TD. http://www.venturerider.org/parts/XVZ12TD.pdf
  17. Can't leave until Monday morning but the bike is cleaned, trailer cleaned, tire pressures checked, I am ready to get on the road. Just got in from a little ride just around the countryside here. Only about 75 miles or so but it sure felt good. Had a hard time moving the bike at first. Cobwebs and etc. had it tied to the garage floor.
  18. I'm always confused when I see any posts about twitchy handling, stability, etc. on the RSV. My '99 is one of the most stable bikes I have ever owned and I've owned a lot of bikes. With decent tires, proper inflation and steering head bearings properly tightened, I've never had a moments issue with handling. I do have the leveling links but had no problem before adding them either. I've also always run the standard size from tire. Though some folks really like the smaller front tire, I've heard a few comments that some folks didn't like the handling after installing it. Mostly that was when used in conjunction with the leveling links though.
  19. LOL......that's GOOD. Wimmins....you NEVER know what they are talking about.
  20. I agree that the above statement was uncalled for. It's ok to have differing opinions but this type of comment does nothing to resolve any differences.
  21. I got it fixed for you. The problem was the file name. You had it named me,brandy. Commas are not good in file names. I rename it me-brandy.jpg and it seems to work fine now.
  22. I've owned several of them over the years. They were, and still are, great bikes. I may have to agree with the choice. There were a lot of bikes that followed in it's footsteps.
  23. If the chains are connected properly and of the correct length, you would not likely be dealing with a loose trailer. They should be crossed under the tongue and short enough to suspend the tongue of the trailer. If all is done correctly, there is a very good chance of controlling the bike.
  24. Well, this has been discussed before and there are differing opinions. This is just my opinion. The chains are there to protect OTHER people from a runaway trailer. I would feel pretty bad if my trailer came lose and caused the death or serious injury of another person. Whether or not it is safer or not safer for me is not the point. If a rider feels that using the chains makes it less safe for THEM when pulling a trailer then in my opinion, they should simply not pull one.
  25. Here is the article which was recently discussed here regarding the use of car tires on a motorcycle. Though it did cause some of the typical bickering, I know that some were not able to read it. Please take it for what it is, an opinion. You don't have to agree with it but part of a discussion forum is actually....discussion. http://www.venturerider.org/darkside/darkside.pdf Thanks to Rick Butler for sending me the article. Remember folks. If your mind is already made up then that is fine but those whose minds are NOT made up certainly deserve to hear both sides of the issue.
