I agree. Those numbers are NOT for the newer RSTD. I honestly didn't think that there was any difference in the RSV and the latest RSTD models in gearing or in HP.

I used the Super Tech and was able to find one the last time I changed my oil. I will likely use Purolator though if I don't find it next time. I've also used Napa Gold and like them fine but don't have to drive as far to get the Purolator.

Really sorry to hear this Tom but glad that it turned out to not be a stroke. Hopefully they will find something minor that they can easily treat. Let her know that she, and you, are in our thoughts and prayers.

I've never heard of them. I Googled them and then entered my zip code. It said "service not available in your area".

I was visiting a customer yesterday in Ohio and found out that she rides. She rides a very nice older and highly customized Harley Super Glide shovel head. Very nice bike. Now this lady is absolutely beautiful. Probably mid to late 30's based only upon the fact that she has an 18 year old daughter. Very sweet and fun lady. She told me a story about stopping by a local sandwich shop to pick up lunch to take back to her office. There was a new guy working behind the counter and he was going on and on about his new bike. Then the guy looked at her and said "yea, just picked up my new bike. Going to a meet this weekend. You should come by." She said that he went on and on trying to be really cool but then he screwed up. He told her "If you stop by, maybe I'll let you clean my bike". Oops.....very bad suggestion. There was a fairly good lunch crowd waiting by now and in front of all of them, the asked "what kind of bike did you buy". He replied that he had bought a brand new Harley Davidson Sportster. That was all she needed to know. Her reply to him was "Very nice, you will enjoy it. I actually started out on a girl's bike too". Game, set, match. She said that he had nothing else to say after that.

You DO not. AND...I was NOT using it this time to trailer my Venture. I was delivering somebody Else's bike. AND...I DO NOT HAVE A GREEN VENTURE.
-
Nope, it just BLEW and I pulled over almost immediately. I was pretty surprised when I saw how bad it was. I had checked the air pressure before leaving and then checked it again immediately before heading home. The trailer was empty on the way home so that was good. The tires had a lot of tread and I saw no cracking but they ARE old.

It is just a small device that allows you to easily calibrate your speedometer. A lot of us here have added them. http://www.healtech-electronics.com/

Some of them may be different but I've found on all that I've checked that the ODO and the speedometer are both off but not by the same percentage. Most of the speedos are off about 7.5%...maybe 8.5...I don't remember now. Most of the ODO are off about 3 percent. Correcting the speedo actually make the ODO off the other direction about 4%.

I appreciate all the comments folks. You've given me some GREAT ideas. I'm sure I can get it going now. Luckily, I did have a spare with me.

Well, I understand where you are coming from but actually a LOT of folks buy new bikes. If not, where you have found the used one? I bought my '99 brand new in April or May of '99. I paid $14,445.00 for it out the door. As for whether or not I would buy a new one, I don't know for sure. Money is a little tight and I don't know that I could justify it but if it has all the features that I would want in an updated model, I would sure give it some thought. I figure that my bike buying days are coming close to an end. I MAY buy one more bike and will then expect it to last me until I am done riding. If I do that, I would kind of like for it to be a new one.

Had a flat on the trailer about 3 weeks ago. I think I can plug it though.

Folks, I have copied this thread to the International Rally Forum and closed this one. I want to thank the 2013 Committee for getting off to such a GREAT start. This is going to be a fantastic rally and I certainly plan to be there. It is a long time until then though and this thread will get lost in the watering hole. I have moved it to the Rally section where it will always be on top. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72568

Well, they are very similar in regards to programming. I actually have both. I have Dish Network in my main house and Direct TV in my guest house. I actually prefer the Dish Network. I like the menus and etc. MUCH better. Now it may just be because I use the Dish Network more and am more familiar with it. As for reception and etc., I think that one is as good as the other.

I wasn't sure that I understood so had to watch it a couple of times. -
Stock Stator Question

You are actually backwards on that. I am assuming that he will have to use some type of voltage reducer to get it down to the needed 5 volts. If it did indeed run on 12 volts though, the amps/watts could actually be less, not three times more. -
Well, the first link didn't work. I posted the second link myself. I went to it a couple of times and watched the video in it's entirety. I got no warnings of any kind and nothing was installed on my computer. I use Norton Antivirus and it detected no problem. After reading your post, I scanned my system with the latest version of Malwarebytes and then the latest version of IOBit Malware fighter and neither found any malware of any kind. So, I don't know why it affected you and not me but I'm sorry if that link caused it.
-
OK...because I would rather err on the side of caution, I have deleted the post. I can say though that I visited the link and did NOT pick up any kind of malware.

An easier way to do that is to simply click on "Thread Tools" and then "subscribe to this thread" from that drop down menu.

I have to be honest. If Yamaha tries to push a new Venture based upon the Stratoliner and etc., I will not be a customer. I have sat on and rode that bike and though it is nice, it is not for me. If I end up having to choose between a V-Twin touring bike, a V-Twin Yamaha Venture would be probably 4th on my list. The top three would be between Harley, Kawasaki and Victory, not necessarily in that order. On a recent demo ride of the Voyager, I found it to be a much better fit for me than the Stratoliner. The only way I would consider a new Venture would be one based upon a V-4 engine. Otherwise, there are a lot of good choices out there. I honestly think that would be a HUGE mistake on Yamaha's part. I hope they are smarter than that. I probably should be more specific. I can't say that a Yamaha would not be in the running. If they built an entirely new bike around that V-Twin engine, then I would take another look before making a decision. What I'm saying though is if they just add a fairing, bags, trunk and etc. to the Stratoliner in it's current configuration, ergonomics, etc., I would not be a customer.

I agree. I wouldn't be concerned at all. You should be good to go. -
Stock Stator Question

It is impossible to answer that question without knowing what other accessories you are running. If that is all, then it should be no problem at all.
