  1. My Dad and I took a ride up to Barber's Motorsports Park yesterday. It is a quick 120 mile trip for us. We've been to the museum before but not to the Vintage Bike Races. There were some real cool bike there. You have to love the atmosphere of that place. When we were looking for a place to park our bikes, an attendant told us we could park in the circle in front of the museum. He told us to park and go where we wanted. He said we cater to motorcycles here. Great people there. If you have never been to the museum, I strongly recommend you go. It is amazing how far motorcycles have come along throughout the years. The Vintage Bike Races were great. Dad has a '65 BSA 650 Lightning that he hasn't started in almost 30 years. Now we are thinking about restoring it. One fun part of the day is we stopped at the Rider's Harley and I had my Yamaha gear on. Sometimes my Dad doesn't claim me. He had to buy a couple of parts for his Road Glide. The Harley place was nice to me and said they would even take my bike on trade. Told them mine was paid for and I was going to keep it for a while
  2. how to you make donation on this site? Also where is the info for the St. Jude ride. I might be able to may a quick trip up to Memphis that weekend if weather permits
  3. ordered new Venom front tire yesterday from motorcycle superstore and will be here Monday
  4. Installed my Utopia backrest yesterday evening. I have to say that it is comfortable and is well made. Reviews on this site prompted me to order it and that I'm happy that I did. Thanks
  5. My family owns a Yamaha outboard dealership. I can get 3FV filters and full list on them is $10.89. One of the reasons I picked a Yamaha bike over another Honda is that I can get my parts for cost. I recently bought my clutch kit from Skydoc and bought all my clutch discs and plates straight from Yamaha. I replaced my clutch for $160 and my bike rides great now
  6. why would Yamaha make the spedo so inaccurate?
  7. I'm going ot have to print that. I never had to hear that crap from my family. My Dad and uncle use to ride with a gang called the Breed in North Jersey/ New York. They also hung out with some Pagans. I was on the back of a bike by the time I was four. I can can remember being on an old goldwing Dad traded on because he had an auto repair and used car lot. He would ride it sometimes to work. We were runnig about 115 on the thing and stopped by my grandparent's house. Being a kid I commented on how fast we were going. Grandma wanted to kill Dad but she knew how he rides because she had ridden with him before. His step-father, my Grandpa never rode Harleys like Dad but always rode old Hondas so he ended up with the wing. Amazing I'm still alive growing up wth now seat belts and airbags and such
  8. What is the top speed in each gear with factory rev limiter. I don't have a tach on this bike which is a bit aggravating. I've read a bit on here and people complain about the gearing on these bikes. Mine has plenty of power in 4th and 5th. If I'm over 50mph I'm in 5th. I am the third owner of this bike and it has 84000 miles on it. I believe it was still on the original clutch. It was in good shape when I replaced it with upgraded spring. I figured I'd do it all since I could get my Yamaha parts at cost. If i'm running over 60 I just twist my wrist to pass. I know it has K&N filters but don't know what else hase been done. It had some slash out pipes that I think were Highway Hawks but not sure because there were no markings on them. I found a set of factory pipes with tips with about 2000 miles on them. I put them on and like how the bike cruises at higher speeds now. With other pipes it sounded like the bike was overtaching. I haven't checked speed with gps yet but it buries the 120 on digital spedo and does it fairly quickly. I can bury in both 4th and 5th. I've learned it doesn't like to go around turns quite that fast though. Guess that is where my Magna spoiled me.
  9. Kind of sad today. Sold my 98 Magna V45 today to an 18 yr old kid. Hope he can handle it. Really liked that bike as it was fun to ride. It handled great and ate up Harleys. I bought my RSTD in June because it was a lot more comfortable riding two up. I have a thing for the V-4. Don't have time or room for both so the Magna lost out. Now I have more money to buy shiny things for new bike
  10. It is due to be shipped on Sept 10. Looking forward to putting it on. Bike has a backrest with two bars that you ca n just pull off but can't adjust. Looks more like a sissy bar that someone added on. Glad to see the Utopia on here. Looks like the backrest on my Dad's Road Glide but for half the cost.
  11. I had a chance to ride two up this weekend since I upgraded my clutch with kit from Skydoc. I synced my carbs with a vacuummate using the procedure I found on this site. My bike is running great now. Had a small backfire when decelerating. I found a set of factory pipes with tips that I put back on the bike. I think it had Highway hawks on it although I could find no markings on them. Sounding like my bike was over taching when going down the interstate at 80. Now it just purrs along. Ordered a Utopia backrest today after reading about them on here. Best 12 bucks I've spent.
  12. I would like to know what year or part number Road King factory exhaust will fit 05 RSTD
