Fedex, Purolator and UPS all have hidden customs brokerage fees that borderline on robbery. If you mark it as a gift you may get away with it as I think its based mostly on value. Brian

Occasional oil warning mystery
friesman replied to tz89's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If your oil is halfway up the glass I wouldnt add any more oil to it, you will probably just end up with a bunch of oil up in the air cleaner box. My 85 did that last summer after running thru some real cut up roads during road construction on the way to Cody WY. I felt something big bump the bottom of the bike as I was going thru a real nasty patch close to Belfry and immediatly my oil light came on. I pulled over as soon as I could and checked things over but couldnt find anything wrong, so I just rode into Cody, as I knew it was just an oil level light. The light stayed on intermittently the whole trip but when I got about halfway home it went off and i havnt seen it since. Brian- 4 replies

I use the Scala Headsets, I also use a Garmin Nuvi 765t gps. I save a bunch of music onto an SD card thats in the Nuvi and have it set to broadcast to the fm band, then set the Scala to pick up that frequency on one preset so I can get my mp3's and my gps directions. Both music and directions will automatically be broadcast over that channel cutting out the music when directions are being said. When I do have a passenger the Scalas work great for conversing back and forth, and the passenger can listen to my music and directions or select her own. Brian

Another new way to mount stuff on a 1st gen handlebar.

So when are you taking orders? Mike? Brian -
wow, Randy so sorry to hear this. Sending him and your whole family best wishes and thoughts for a quick and painfree recovery. Brian

Have you tried moving your handlebars in and grips up? You can rotate the handlebars on the tripletree bolts to move them in or out. And there are bolts that hold your handgrips on can be loosened so you can move the grips up and down. Brian

I wouldnt mud or tape the seams,... its a garage...... I ran a foot high baseboard of wood around the bottom and then set the sheetrock on top to the ceiling. its way easier than wood to work with , just need a straightedge and a lino knife... Brian

whats your sheet rock price like down there? here its way cheaper to insulate and cover the walls with sheetrock. Holes are easily patched and it easier to paint a light colour to reflect the light all over and make it brighter in there. Brian

I use about 1 third of a can about every 3 tankfuls around town riding. On the hiway i hardly use it at all, but keep a can with me in case I get some bad gas though. Brian

I wouldnt hesitate to go anywhere now,..that ive had 4 years of help and advice from everyone on this forum. In hindsight knowing what I know now,... having my bike in Cailfornia with you guys 4 years ago probably wasnt a good idea as I had just bought the bike and didnt know much about it then. But I met some wonderful people, ended up learning a ton about my bike, and made some lifelong friends,...so the breakdown ended up being a good thing in a lot of ways.! Brian
