I do 'butchering' (meat processing) for a living, but I fired a butcher this week who claimed to be a plumber and gas fitter. Next day the outfit sent someone in who knew what she was doing,,, good move on their part. They were looking to get paid for a new furnace, water heater, and water softener. Guess now that might happen. Would be interested in your problem though, I'm that type of a guy.

SO now he knows, but how about the rest of us,,,,,, or is he just SPECIAL???????

antenna question
Marcarl replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If your antennas are switched it won't make any difference on reception, but transmission Will be the pits and hard on your transmitting radio. The transmitter on your radio needs to be matched to the antenna and the antenna needs to be much longer than an AM antenna, hence there is a coil in the CB antenna to make up the extra length needed. -
But the shop has a new look. And a look at 2 of my Grand Sons who have done a world of work at the new digs.

During our MC training, one thing kept coming to the foreground, it was repeated time and time again: THE THROTTLE IS YOUR FRIEND. I've personally never have hit a deer or have to ride over a sofa, but the more I think of that statement, the more sense it makes to me. If you hit a deer with the brakes on, your out of control already and your bike will 'stop' on impact but you'll keep going. If you add throttle thrust to the moment of impact (not saying this is easy or even possible) it would change the dynamics somewhat, just how would depend on a lot of issues entailed with deer hitting. If it's a hole in the road, hunk of wood etc, hit the throttle as hard as you can, you'll go over it, maybe a bit bumpy but you'll make it, hit the brakes and you're going down. On a blow out, can even happen with good tires, you should do the same as you would in a cage. First get control, then slow down, not always possible, but it's something to think about and become brain ready. Riding in the rain is never as enjoyable as sunshine, but we all will have to it so might as well get gooder at it when you have the chance to learn. Slow down to a comfortable speed, even it if means 30mph. Go slow enough and someone will push you from behind, go too fast and you'll be finding a rear bumper that appeared from nowhere, or go around a curve and find out that it's slicker than snot. Keep in mind that the first 15 to 30 minutes after rain starts that the roads are slick and oily from oil droppings and tire rubber. Best to take a break when it starts raining and have something to eat or drink, who knows, by the time you have consumed the rain maybe over. Just my thoughts from training days. Carl

I attended a birthday party for a dear friend of ours last night. She turned 50 this week. She stood up to speak to all her invited friends and mentioned some of her favorites. In her life she has had a load of problems, financial, spiritual, family,,, you name it and we prayed for her a lot. It's one of her favorites that caught my attention. It's a part of a bible verse,,,,,,,AND IT CAME TO PASS,,,,,,,. as she explained it, nothing ever comes to stay,, it all passes, it's here for a while and then it is gone, and so it came to pass. She said if it weren't for that part of a verse she would not be here today. Something to think about. And we will pray, that soon it may pass for you as well. Carl

Steering Problem
Marcarl replied to crockettrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
All drink to that,,, especially #3. loose bearings will cause a bad wear spot and do exactly as you discribe. -
Now that Squidley moved away, you could move up here. Michigan could become the retirement area of the US, and you'd be soo close to Canada that you could go shopping for all the high quality Canadian products fresh from China. Congrats on your retirement, hope it doesn't get boring.

Well bummer, nobody jumped in to help out here,,, that's not normal. But maybe you need to give more info. Do you have the original radio still in place? Does it work and do you use the intercom?
-
So if it's 3 for a dollar, just how much do you charge for just one?

If she rides well, enjoys it, and takes to heart the safety rules, then by all means, let her ride. If she stays away from bikes just so that she won't die riding one, she die from something else, and it may not be pleasant that way either. Now that I'm thinking about it,,, doesn't seem to me that dying would be pleasant no matter how you do it,,, but maybe you get my drift.

a question about being a passenger, for those that are.
Marcarl replied to massey130's topic in Ladies Lair
It's all in the 'attitude'. You're kind of stuck with the situation, as many of us are. I have a friend and fellow rider who is about 5'9" and his wife is 6'2". She sticks out over his head and catches a lot of wind if there is a side breeze, so we have more complaints. My wife seems to like the back of my helmet once she realized that it that or stay home, now she looks out the side a lot. She does mention it would be nice to be able to look striaght ahead, but that just isn't going to happen. so she adjusts her 'attitude' and enjoys what she can. We also stop every hour or so, and that helps. Carl -
Glad to see you're having a good time. Today we ride as well. See you soon. Carl

Wot 80 mph???
Marcarl replied to Ga Dawg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I go hard and fast, everything is just a blurrrrrrr, even the speedo, but I understand on a second gen you can actually see the speedo go up. Just some words put on the screen,, doesn't really mean anything though. -
Not my fault that he asked the WRONG question,,, at least I got the answer right......didn't I???? Did sooooo! some more.

There's an argument on the color, but the neighbours don't have any say, so I will be painting it. Any suggestions?????? I'll pass them on to Marca.
-
Somebody is bound to tell you right. But then again, maybe they're all waiting for me to tell you, so I'll just jump right in. The first gen are faster, so they're always first,,,,,, unless we do a group ride, then often enough they go last so that they won't leave the 2nd gens behind by accident.

Now for the last couple of days. Wiring almost done, walls insulated, closet in master bedroom ready for dressing.
