  1. Sounds real good at his point,, looking forward to it for sure.
  2. You really haven't visited Canada, unless you have visited Marcarl's VentureIn. You're one of the lucky ones to be so close on the right weekend, and it's only 1.5 hrs west of the falls by slab, and as long as you want if you go through country. Through country is the way to go, and although I would not expect you to get lost, it's always nice to have a guide to show you around. Another weekend and I would offer to be your guide, but for some reason I feel I should stick close to home those days,,, hear there's going to be some bikers in the area and you just never know what they get up to. Maybe someone else will offer to guide you in from the Falls. Three hours riding will get you nice scenery and the best burgers around for lunch, then some comradery and more riding with a great supper to share with fellow VentureRiders.
  3. Thanks for sharing Don. It's good to hear about life, other than MC once in a while. Posting like this gives us a little larger window into who we are, and makes us a bit more family. My condolences to you my friend and may the Creator be a comfort to you. Carl
  4. If you are really worried about when your engine is broke in, just bring it down here, and let me at it,,, for an engine is much the same as a women, they both need to be treated right, right from the start, and some good experience is really helpful here. Now I know that your engine already has some miles on it,,, so it is a bit used,,,, that takes some more expertise, I not sure I have it, but for you,,, and just for you, I would be willing to give it a go. It will probably only take a few hours,,,, if you drop it off the first of the week, with any luck at all, you should be able to come back and pick it up by the weekend.
  5. I suppose they now call me retired,,,,, I'm mostly more tired after having to get our place ready for,,,,,, guess what,,,,retirement!!!!!!! YA!!!!! so if I have an opportunity to go for a ride,,,, mostly,,your on, just let me know. That being said, Tuesday aft, Thursday most of the day and late Fridays my presence is kind of expected in the business,,,, but I am still the boss, so that counts for a little bit.
  6. I suppose they might be right,, we are not like them at all,,, last I noticed we rode with a Harley, a 2nd gen and a Victory,,, and the Victory even kept pace with the first gens,,,,, course it takes 1600cc to do it,, but she came along just real nice. Nah, we ain't nothing like them at all, if we were,,,,, oh never mind, I don't want to spoil a good thread.
  7. Well,,, so you dared go right past my place,,,, well almost I suppose,,,,, Don't ever try that again, or I'll have to hunt you down,, hey now that could be fun.......
  8. Something wrong with the back seat???? Trailer looks awesome, hope it works out well for you.
  9. That must be from some other country,,,, we sure wouldn't do things like that in Canada,,, or the US would we????? Are those people on drugs or what???
  10. Bet it was the dog,,,,, Hey there Taters,,, get well soon kiddo, you need to get back to looking after Tom good and proper, we worry about him,,,,sometimes,,, but mostly about you.
  11. The first reason I like the Venture' is because I own one, no the bank doesn't own it, I do! The second reason is that while I ride a Venture, the Harley dealer won't talk to me. Guess I'd have to buy a Harley at the local Yammi shop, then ride it over to the Harley store and then maybe they would talk to me,,,,, oh well, not my loss.
  12. Porper aiming has a lot to do with how much light you get. I set my low beam and the set the passing lamps just very slightly higher, too high and I loose all the effects. Yours are mounted higher so the setting will be different. Go down a road with lots of trees on either side,,, at night of course,,, then you can see what exactly you're doing when you adjust them. Then go home and shine them on a wall about 20' away, and now you'll have a good idea where they need to be set.
  13. Well that just isn't far enough for a good ride,,,,, but maybe the folks from Kitchener would like it,,, they would have to go for at least a 10 minute ride to get there, and at their age that would spend the night. Just for the heck of it though, Brantford will be there this summer,, probably more than once. Thanks for the heads up. Carl
  14. Frogg Toggs and we're happy with them,,, no get wet no more,,,also have the rain boots that go half way up the calf,, also keeps things dry. Jacket has a roll up hoddie that goes under the helmet to keep the back dry,,,,, yep they works good.
  15. I got the edsets last year. I traded up from cheapie Chatterbox, and I don't listen to music much. Couldn't really tell the difference between the two. Guess maybe I was looking for hi fidelity. Now to be fair, the speakers aren't the speakers I use on my stereo, so they do have to be real close to your ear, and the amp built into our 1st gens are not what the edsets need to power them, so it's not necessarily the fault of the edsets, but probably an issue with the other components. So to keep it short, if all you want to do is talk, go easy on the price,, if want quality music then be prepared to make adjustments elsewhere as well.
  16. Wow, doesn't anybody know how they has been married,,,, it must be a long long time me thinks. Have a great one, you two.
  17. Things must be slow at school, Swifty is posting again. Ya you guys did get a lot done,,, wow!!!!!
  18. Yep,,, first gen,,,now that be a different story maybe. Don't blame us,,, you opened up that can of worms.
  19. As I understand it, we don't really want to go there, because of the scare we would get seeing the lack of pressure at idle,,,,,, but then that's only hearsay from some locals who may or may not know what they are talking about.
  20. Something about the screw instructions is screwy, which screws is it referring to?
  21. Good to hear that life goes on,,,, not the same, for sure. God bless you all in your new venture.
  22. I would check for air in the clutch line first, you may have forced some air into it. Bleed it out, it's good to once in a while anyways, and see what happens.
  23. Repacking bearing is important, but just smearing grease on them doesn't do much good. Your bearings have been in for quite some time and may have a wear spot on them,,, and that will not be fixed with grease. It will take a little more time and a bit more effort, but if you are going that route, you should do the whole thing. Pull out the forks and rebuild with progressive springs, seals, sliders and such. Replace the bearings in the steering head, get aftermarket from a bearing dealer, a whole lot cheaper. It won't take forever to do it all at once, and you'll be glad you won't have to do that ever again. And remember, there's lots of room here and all the tools.
  24. Pretty hard to see your van just standing still,,, maybe you should put some driving lights on it, or maybe get some modulating headlights. A bit more safety chrome might also be a good idea.
  25. Good move,,, we got to remember that: we work to live, not live to work,,,,, and: when momma ain't happy,,,, nobody's happy!!!!
