Engine Idle - Random fluctuation
Marcarl replied to 2Flights's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Check your work, and try to get the idle down to about 800 to 900 while you do the sync. Also, you need to readjust the idle to keep it at 900 during the process. The fluctuations sure sound like an out of sync to me, and sometimes we don't get it right the first time.- 7 replies

Carb issues
Marcarl replied to Sandbagger's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd say you're into a fuel mixture issue, sounds like both the idle circuit and the running circuit are effected. Try a rich mixture of Seafoam or a good carb cleaner. Just us it in a 1\4 tank or so of fuel, run it to get the cleaner into the system, let ot sit for a couple of hours, then run it again to freshen up the cleaner, a couple more hours of patience, and then take it for a ride, run it low on fuel, fill up the tank and then come back and tell us what happened. -
We'd have to get Squidley to be quiet long enough to pay all the attention needed to consume such a delight,,,, now as for me,, I'd bound to be late and miss out on all the fixings.

This has to be the most awesome day for a ride,,,, an all day ride,, and we could do just that,,,, except we promised to help out our youngest in St. Catherines fix up her yard and fix her lawn mower,,, and put in an outdoor plug and plant some plants,,,, so we will be tied up today,,,,, bummer,,,,,but hey, family comes first so she tops our list today,,, maybe ice-cream this evening on the way home, after all it is a Canadian Holiday. Did a 200 k ride yesterday,, just so we wouldn't feel tooo bad today. Enjoy your day folks, couldn't ask for better conditions, no matter what you're doing. Oh Ya she lives on Grass Ave,, not hard to find once you get there (my van will be there) incase you have excess energy.

Also check to make sure your foot comes OFF of the brake pedal, if it doesn't you'll be riding the brake,,,,causes heating in the caliper, wearing of the shoes and worst of all, the weeeee little return hole in the master doesn't open to allow fluid to come back through the master.

Thanks for being who you are,,, you're the type we all can be friends with.

I like it, it's clean and speaks thoughts and feelings. It's also confusing,,,, the video that is,,,, she rides the wrong side, and then she rides the right side, but then I notice she is going the wrong way,,,,,,, not good to watch first thing in the morning.
-
Yep, that's my opinion, that weeee little hole would be plugged, if you can't see it when you take the master apart you haven't found it yet, so keep looking.
-
My first thought would be that you got some dirt in the carbs that is\are now plugging the circuits. I'm thinking the dirt was loosened out of the fuel lines between the filter and the carbs. Run some cleaner through her, like seafoam or some other carb cleaner, but don't go cheap on the quanity, in this case, more is better. Use only about a 1\4 tank of fuel, then run it for about 10 minutes, let it sit over night, run it again for about 10 minutes, let it sit for an hour and then take 'er out for fresh fuel, but run most of the old fuel out first.

So where are you going, inquiring minds wants to know.

You have to be able to hold your tongue just right to get it done. -
Looks like she's ready for a trip to Marcarl's this coming weekend, after all, it is an 85 right? Might even be able to convince someone to balance the back seat for you and talk you right to the perfect address.
