We really won't have much time to go out to do 'fun' stuff,,,, 'course we could rent a trailer, get a ramp and put Swifty's bike on it while we do some ' maintenance '. We could have V-Goose doing some electrical, Dingy work on the clutch, Rick fixing the seat, Don changing tires, Big Tom sitting on it to keep it up-right, Bongobob putting on some lights, Beer30 with a cooler to keep things lubricated, YammerDan to steer the driver away from obstacles, E-fishin-C to keep things from being rear ended, Brad-T to make sure things are tightened down properly, Squidley could do a carb tune, oh no, that wouldn't work, we'd need to bigger a trailer, forget about the carbtune,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Alright I said enough.

Big Tom is already bringing a boat load I'm sure,,, sent me a message 'asking' if I wouldn't please leave earlier and meet up with him so as that we'd have more room to ship more of the good stuff to Oberlin Hey but in this case More is Better

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Also good to hear it wasn't worse, and now somebody else knows why it's called a left turn lane and not a merge lane,,,, done some of those myself a number of times, until I just about done it in last year,,, or was that 2 years ago,,,, don't matter, it was then that I thought how dangerous this left turn lane is when you are merging right,,,,, yep, not there to merge right on, you need to cross that lane and turn left into the traffic lane,,,, lucky you didn't get a ticket for that one, the officer was nice to you me thinks.

Remember who we are not what others want us to be!

Well thanks, I resemble that remark!!!!!! -
Interesting how it can all be sooooo attractive,, until it's all there for the viewing and then it can be downright disgusting.

If it's grinding noise, it's time to check your pads, some wear out a lot sooner than others. If it's a squealing noise it's also the pads, but this is because they are vibrating. To fix this you can buy a spray or a thin pad that goes on the outside of the pad, or if you want something cheaper, just take the pads off and then bevel the leading edge a little at about 45 degrees. It's the leading edge of the pad that 'catches' on the rotor that causes the vibration and so by doing the bevel, it eliminates that action. Carl

Best that you check the underpinnings over real close, make sure they are shaped the proper way and don't have any hairs on them, hairs mean that they are kind of new and therefore might be a little too slippery when used. Check for color, cracks and cupping. After you are satisfied with them, next check out the top end, the handle bars are somewhat important, as their job is to steer you in the right direction, so,, they must have proper shape and form and be of the same size, keeping in mind that not all bars are pleasant at first, but we can sure get used to them in a hurry, 'specially if they perform the necessary tasks. If there is a windshield, it would be of interest to make sure it will come off, to be cleaned and polished so the the sight line will not be hampered. The tank should be flat, nicely polished and of good shape so to be able to hold the necessary fuel for a long trip, but not sticking out so far as to be getting in the way. The seat should be soft and comfy, with enough padding to give it proper shape, but not over stuffed so as to have a detrimental effect when it gets used. Head lights are always important, and seldom overlooked, but often looked over. They could be small and effective or large and useless, ask any 1st gen owner. When you polish them, make sure you use a light circular motion to start with and then slowly increase the pressure, so to get the desired effects. For the drive train, the best appraisal would be to go for a good solid test drive to determine the pro's and the con's, but if this scoot is new to you, that might not be allowed, so you might just have to do what is necessary in the drive way. You need to check out whether the clutch slips and the tranny stays in gear, if the center of the scoot is well lubricated, and does a twist on the handle bars bring the desired results under the seat. Brakes are generally not as important as the rest of the scoot, but you do need to check on their operation,,,, best let some else do the testing, for if they work for some else, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will work for you when the time comes. So there you have it, anything else you would like to know,,,, don't hesitate to ask

You have something that nobody else seems to have,,,, might be a smart thing to add to the list of add-ons,,,, never know, if you word it right you might confuse someone enough that he'll pay lots extra for it when it's time to sell,,,, but in the meantime you'd have to live with it, so maybe we'd better help you fix it EH?

Now if I had a scooter that looked like that,,,,,,,,,, I'd have a scooter that looked just like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good for you,,, make sure you pay good attention to what they are trying too teach you at the course,, then you need to take some time and train yourself with what you have been taught, and then, and only then will we let you take on the responsibility of a passenger,,,, good rules. Best for you. Carl -
I was going to guess, but asked Marca if I could type it out on the forum here,,, but she said 'NO WAY', so Becky will just have to wait and see.

I would think that this is a perfect example of Good vs evil, even though the devil thought to wreck havoc, the angles were told to step in and send you out there to keep things right. Thanks for listening to what you were told, it saved a lot of grief I'm sure.

Need a lst Gen Part HELP
Marcarl replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You could try Wizard765, he just redid his so might have a cover for you,,, but the upgrade would be the smart thing to do. -
It's probably stuck in the up position. You could try turning the scoot upside down but it won't help much I guess. That's about as much help as I can be I suppose. When was the last time it was down? Take the bolt out and see if will free up that way.

Off hand I would say that you need to deal directly with the area of pain, or discomfort. I would not recommend to start cutting right away, but do the opposite first, build up the other areas as a start. If that seems to address the problem, then you have a good idea as to where to do surgery. Everybody is built different, basically the same, but with minute differences that can't be addressed for the masses, so sometimes we need to make slight adjustments. That's where trial and error come in,, hopefully not too many errors, for seats are not all that cheap. Maybe your seat is too wide and so causes your leg bones to set your butt and back in a sore position, try to put a band (ratchet strap) around it where your legs come off the seat and try that for an hour or so, see how it develops.
-
Don't know if this will help your situation, probably not, and I don't have it perfect yet. As you can see I have dug two holes in the foam, right where my butt bones set,,, makes a world of difference, now I still have to give relieve to the round part of the bone that goes over the side of the seat, but I wants to be careful not to take too much out. My theory is that pressure from sitting on certain parts of my behind cut out the blood circulation and then the ache starts, keep it circulating and it should or could solve the problem. Now that can be done with more fat back there, but that is an option that seems to elude me, so I had to come up with another option.

You'd better explain this better,,,,, as we get older we tend to forget things,,, just 2 and 4 don't cut it,,, how can we remind the forgetful if we don't know what to remind them of,,, and I'm thinking maybe Hal is getting older,,, we'll see I guess.

Is it really your tail bone or is it your butt bones that are giving you an ache?

Got through the wedding and I am still alive - I think
Marcarl replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
And so WOW,,, how come we weren't invited,,,,, could have been another VentureIn and the party could have lasted allllll night, because we would all want to have spoken,,,,'specially me. Good to hear it turned out so good,,, now forget about the work for a while,, you need to ponder the next step very carefully, so you get it right and not screw up,,,,, 'course the best spot to do some pondering is on the back of an iron horse,, away from all that would be distracting and into territories that would give new and thoughtful ideas. -
Now maybe if you got a picture of a first gen and displayed that beside your 2nd gen, we'd really get them confused.

Amen to that bro Carl

I'm with those who recommend a totally natural product, stay away from all the smells and softners, use plain as plain can get soap,, or just plain vinegar, but not the cheap kind.
