Near as I can figure, after doing some research on the net, is that it was built by the Cushman Motor Works for the Bean Co. for their orchard sprayer. These things ran washing machines, well pumps, lumber mills. Just about everything before electricity came along. They're called hit'n'miss engines. The spark came off a magneto and only fired when the rpm dropped below a certain point. So it only fires when needed. Hense the hit'n'miss lable. Put a load on one of these things and it just keeps firing on every stroke and the torque is incredible....

Went to a marine swap last Saturday and came home with a 'hit'n'miss'. It doesn't look like much, and it never may. I just couldn't help myself. I love to hear these old things run, and I always make it a point to spend some time taking in the display of chuffers at the State Fair. Besides I need a break from scoots for a while.....

MAC Muffler group buy list.
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just got off the phone yesterday afternoon with MAC. I think they got their signals crossed somewhere along the line. When I first talked to Waylon, the 'new' customer service go-to guy, I thought he said that 6 pair were ready to ship, and I told him to wait for the other 4 before sending. Yesterday he tells me that the 6 are just being packed up for shipment, and they're still waiting for the last 4 to come back from the plater's. I know this has been dragging on forever, and after this I think I'm going to make it the last batch. I might also add that if anyone has changed their mind I'll be happy to refund their money....... It's too late to refund thru Paypal and so I'll eat the charges. -
We couldn't afford the balcony because we took the kids, but I did find a nook of the ship no one came to very often and would sit for hours watching the cost line go by. Saw a bunch...

Centre Stand and MAC exhaust
Condor replied to rez's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This is the first I've heard of something like this. My thought is, is the rubber center stand buffer pad still mounted on the left muffler? If not it might allow the stand to bounce because it doesn't have anything to rest against. BTW, the center stands are goofy looking, and not symetrical. Your's is probably fine... -

I don't know for sure if it's the same for 2ndGens as 1st's, but if it is, on the back of the ignition switch you'll generally be able to find the key code.

GOOD OIL FILTER a 1st Gen Venture?
Condor replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I use what ever I can lay my hands on. Used the last of the Imglo's, and now have a Fram cartridge in there. The Frams come with new 'O' rings. Nice touch. -
If you like 'old school' pomp and circumstance go with Celebrity CL. If you like a lot of fun and activities take Norwegian CL. The wife and I took the kids on CCL in July '06, and enjoyed the shore time, but the trip was kinda booring. We did Norwegian CL 'freestyle' to the Carrabian in '03 and the trip and shore time were a blast.

Air suspension question
Condor replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The manual states to fill on the center stand. As far as the length of time it takes to top off the front vs. the rear, the volume is a lot less in the front shocks. The rear always takes longer. Over night with cooler temps the pressures will always be a bit lower than in the heat of the day. If the pressure is gone completely you have a leak..... -
WOW!! Looked like it went vertical to me......

Good on ya Dan. You could probably get rid of a lot of the Bling-bling and get half your money back the way chrome sells on Ebay.....

Yep, GeorgeS and I got into that stuff cutting acrossed Wyo going home thru Ida after Ft Collins. Thunder storms all over the place and we were heading right at one. 50-60mph cross winds with 18 wheelers approaching from the opposite direction kicking it up even higher. It was exciting times..... But ya know what.... those old 1stGens tracked better than any bike I've ever ridden. They kicked butt.... I've been on other bikes that would have ended up in a ditch. Love that full fairing....

brake bleeding tip
Condor replied to TxVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A syringe sounds like a great idea, but for those of you that don't have access to a medical syringe, use one of those ear cleaner bulbs you can buy from the drug store. Cut the end off the bulb just enough so that it fits snuggly in the thread opening after taking the bleeder valve out. Too much and it'll be to fat to fit in the hole...too little and it'll bottom out and not allow fluid to enter the caliper. So take a little off at a time to get the right fit. Fill the bulb with DOT 3 and squeeze it into the caliper. Don't worry about reloading the bulb if you need more. The fluid will start to flow out the caliper and air won't easily enter. I usually stick my finger over the hole just to make sure. There's a few more way's that I've read about on the board, and they all seem to work fairly well. Reverse bleeding works equally as well on clutches. It's the linked brakes on the 83-85 mark 1's that are a problem because of the 'hump' formed by the brake line going forward. Air get's trapped in the high spot and is a bear to get out. I've been thinking about drilling out an extra reserve plug and fitting it with a brass hose bib that will allow pressure bleeding of the back master. It's still in the 'what if' stage. I chatter too much........... -
Gerald. I think?? you might have muddied the water by putting 'Ireland WV' for the location. Lookers are going to skim over the specs and get the impression it's in the UK.... Just a thought????

Figured it out all by my 'lil lonesome Rich. Be carefull it has a trick box. Didn't do the Doc. Been off the new2me High blood pressure pills for 3 days now and I'm not falling over a 10th of what I was. It was like I'd been offshore on a sailboat for 2 weeks and had my sea legs while walkign ashore for the first time... MOF today has been pretty good....except for my first two posts.....:)

i must be holding the tongue just right. I don't have any problem at all getting the carbs off. Take off left and right side fairings and the front lowers plus the aircleaner and they slip right out. Now getting that dang breather hose reconnected again when putting them back on is another story......

OK, second ***** post this morning... there must be somethin' in the water??? I've got another complaint. I picked up a rally t-shirt at Ft. Collins, and have worn it a few times. My question is.... can't the guys who we order these things from find better t-shirts to print on? The one I have, it might not be true for all, is made of a really thin material, and feels like 'H'. I'm about ready to retire it....permanently... I have a bunch of other 'trophy' T's and they are all made of a nice thick material and feel great. The one from FC is more of an undershirt than a T-shirt.....

That's exactely what I just explained in my first post....I did it ....twice!! It ain't working....... OK... i just figured it out. DON'T check the reset box. What is that thing doing there in the first place??

I've been trying to change the sub-heading that appears under my ID on my posts. I've gone to the UserCP to edit my profile, checked the reset and typed in the info, clicked save changes, and NADA!! The dang thing won't save it, and keeps 'member'. Que Pasa?
