  1. Subject: Fw: Income tax Returned Mail Can you believe it? They sent my income tax return form back to me! In response to question # 4, "Do you have any dependants?" I replied: 2.1 million illegal immigrants 1.1 million crack heads 4.4 million unemployable people 901 thousand people in over 85 prisons and 650 idiots in Parliament Apparently, this was NOT an acceptable answer. Who the hell did I miss?

    US Census

As many of you know the news has been reporting that the 2010 census will be arriving sometime in March or was it May of this year. They said it would be 10 questions and encouraged folks to fill it out and get it back to them ASAP. Well a buddy of mine got a census survey the other day. It is 48 question...supposed to take you 38 minutes to fill it out. With some of the questions they ask I doubt you could fill it out in 2 days due to the research require to give correct answers. I looked it over and could not believe all the stuff that is on there. I think there is a post from Jan of last year where somebody here got one seems just like it. First you have to list iformation about every one who lives in the household. Race Sex date of birth...no real problems there Then they get into a lot of stuff that is really none of their business. Describe your house...housetrailer, apartment etc. How many rooms is in it...when was it built, do you have running water, flush toliet, stove, refrigerator? How much land is it sitting on? How much agriculture products did you raise on that land? how do you heat your house...what did it cost last month. How much is you monthly payment? How much is your taxes? How much is your insurance? Do you have health insurance? who is it with? When did you get married? how long have you been married...how many times have you been married? Have you had a baby in the last 12 months? Are you a grandparent taking care of grandchildren? Do you go to school? Where - address? Did you work last week? How may hours? How much did you make? Where did you work last week? Address? What kind of a compay do you work for? What are your duties at work? What time did you leave home for work? How did you get to work? How many cars, trucks 1 ton and under do you own? How many minutes did it take you to get to work? Income from work? Income from self employement, Interest, dividends? Total income from the last 12 months? And they will fine you $5000 dollars for not filling this out. But they will fine you less if you lie on it. My buddy is buying more guns and is about the declare war on the US goverment. They have mailed 2 surveys and 3 letters to him. Next step they going to contact him by phone and if they do not get the results they want they are coming to his house. I saw the letter. I think they are getting a little bit too Bold with this. There is gonna be trouble...just watch the news you will hear about it I am sure.
  3. This change does not go into effect until 2012, but you may want to stick it in your something to remember file. Effective 2012, the IRS will be receiving payment information from charge card companies ANDother financial entities such as PayPal. While the intent is to track folks that may be running off the book enterprises, they will also be able to see who is living beyond their reported income level. This can come back and bit a few of us in the butt. Like donations made to Don via PayPal for maintaining the site would have to be claimed as income. Folks who are receiving payments for the purchase of raffle tickets, registration fees, etc... will have to claim that as income. So, just a word to the wise....
  4. I submitted paperwork today to try to get on VA health & medical coverage. Since the eligibility is being relaxed (slightly) and our income is down from last year, the Rep. thinks there is a good shot of my getting on the system based on the numbers. The question that neither the rep. nor the patient advocate I spoke with could answer was this: If I'm able to qualify and get on the VA system now, what happens if our income goes back up (especially if it goes up a lot)? Will the VA disqualify me from the system...ie.. will they kick me out because of it?????? They said they had never heard of it ever happening and didn't believe that they would. I said I sure would like to see that in writing some where! I know that the co-pays would change and I would gladly pay them, as long as I can still be covered. My problem is I need absolute confirmation that would be the case. I could not give up my existing (expensive) health insurance coverage otherwise; Once I get off of it there won't be any getting back on and I have to have coverage. I'm still a couple of years out for social security (assuming it's still there, when I get there) So, my Venturerider friends, if you know with some level of certainty, the answer, please let me know. If you know a reg. reference I can go to and look it up, that would be good, too! I've been looking, but no joy as yet. Thanks for any assist or info.
  5. After three and a half years of not working, that ain't real easy! As some of you know, I hurt my back at work in October of '04 (2 weeks after buying my house!) and the last day that I worked was the day after Thanksgiving '04. After a year and a half of therapy, I let the Doc cut me in May of '06. He did a fusion and some other stuff on my back. I was on disability until July of '07 when I was released by the doctor and I left UPS. Since then I've had no income except from roommates that I took in to help with expenses. On disability I was making less than half of what I had been earning. It seems that the more you earn, the more you are hurt by disability, because they have a cap on it. Today I started training with FedEx Express as a courier. The lifting should be a lot less at FedEx. This is the air division, not the home dlivery (or ground). I can lift up to 70 pounds, I just can't do it as repetitively as is required at Big Brown. (What can Brown do TO you?!) The good news is that now I have an income again , the bad new is that this is really going to cut into my riding ! I guess there won't be anymore staying on line reading this stuff til 3am, either! Y'all think of me in the next few weeks while I'm in training! Oh Well, at least I can ride to work. I rode today with massive thunderstorms coming in, I decided that I needed to start the legend early (even if only in my own mind!).
  6. At what age did you retire? Do you just get a company pension or income from your own investments made through the years? Any advice on those investments?
