  1. July long weekend traveled to Huricane Ridge State Park in Washinton State..... What a beautiful place. Me with my 86 Venture. My brother was along on his 06 BMW GS1200. Not sure how to attach pictures here so I hope this worked.
  2. It's looking a lot like christmas here........ A cold minus 5 C out side... wind is kicking up.... expecting up to 90 Km/hr comiing at us.... forcast is for upwards of 27 cm of snow in next 24 hrs. So for all of you below the 49th..... that is about 21*F close to a foot of snow and about 55 mph winds. We have been frozen for near 10 days.... longest time since 1991 set record lows and we may have a white christmas.... the record keepers say we had one in my life but that is all. Not bad for a place that does not get snow........ And I have a 2005 suzuki gs500 in the driveway I bought 3 weeks ago and want to ride. Enjoy all...... Merry Christmas
  3. That white stuff you guys all talk about..... SNOW ..... Last night ( Saturday ) it snowed in beautiful Victoria. It would seem that IT is going to stick around for a week or so. THAT is a long time to go without being able to take the bikes out of the garage. I kinda know now how you guys in the east and south east must feel. I never missed a whole week of riding for a long time....... I may not be able to go for a christmas ride....oh what to do now?
  4. spelling is a HUGE subject then.................... new I should not have skipped those classes in grade 3.............
  5. Google it ! Yes I did... and CO is about the only state in the union that does not have a Nothrop as a city.... if you find Northtop st in Loveland CO you will find a very large chunk of vacant land. Come on guys,,,,, the man says cash only no certifide cheques....... shake the heads some..... send me cash I have a very very sexy bridge for sale..... no certifide cheques cash only......................
  6. Rode the Venture to work today.... it is not sunny and warm.... heated vest....polish the wind screen..... nice cruze to work.... suposed to be sunny this after noon but will be dark for the ride home also... about 48*F for the high today.......

  9. Canadian Biker Mag did a write-up on it last month.... they are kinda saying what the F*&^# are they doing? It has no storage or opitional bags... the do not want to offer any dress up toys incase that influences people to change it. MY wife had a honda-matic 400 back in 198? But it is a big bike and looks kinda wow!
  10. The best of luck..... A cause known to all men but yes... most ignorred. My wife says for my 50th birthday coming up in the new year she is making me see the doctor. Her brother would not see his docor even when he was sure he had a problem. In Canada we help raise money for Prostate research by riding .... I dont know about where you may live but look and see if you can find something simular in your area. Any time I can ride my motorcycle and help a good cause... sign me up. Check out The Ride for Dad...... http://www.motorcycleridefordad.org/ west coast (vancouver Island) is my area
  11. If you had a car that you wanted better sound in what they do is box the speakers in or if they are door mounted they add door deading products to direct the sound to you not away from you.
  12. If you get a polishing kit from a some place specializing in metal, Aluminium can be polished to look better than chrome. You can do this to those crappy looking yellowy covers on the motor sides too. The yellowing is the coating put on the metal in the factory it was made in, to protect it.... paint stripper type stuff on those and buff till the part looks as buff as you do...... it will look better than it did new..... Polished Aluminium is fantastic.... if you don't want to keep polishing it.... find a clear coating such as Flecto or Tremclad.... wash the part off with campstove fuel to make it clean..... no fingers to touch it after it has been cleaned.... it will look great for a few years.
  13. Sorry to hear that you guys are living in the new land of ice and snow..... Finally some relief for us Canadians getting the ribbing on the cold weather..... It was close to 50 degrees here durring the day yesterday... had the bike out all day riding.... went to town in the evenning with my wife on back saw the "Santa Clause Parade" for the first time with no children in tow and then out for dinner..... Sorry to hear you are cold but.... better you than me.....

  20. Ok I agree.... yes.... when a battery is new out of the box it must be charged for a number of hours with a proper and full rated charger. If you are leaving a bike...car... bus even, for any length of time yes a trickle charger is recommended to keep battery in crank and go condition. BUT..... I.... you.... should not have to plug your bike in every night when you park it so the battery will work tomorrow when you are on your way to work. My brother has an 06 BMW 1200GS and his bike kept just stalling out... quitting on him... after some time the dealer replaced his battery that at the time was not even 12 months old and they asked him how often he charged it up.... he rides his bike to work every day.... he had 5 days last winter he did not ride his bike due to bad weather. Why is my battery in my van 6 yrs old and has not let me down once with out ever being charge outside of the van..... and yes I know it is on borrowed time now. :confused24: :canada::canada:
  21. Hello from Victoria, Last fall my 86 started doing the same thing.... I had lots of help from here but the end result was so simple it was stupid. In my clean up of the bike one day I knocked off the small rubber boot(cap) that plugged the "test Port" for syncing the carbs off the intake on one cylider. Check it out make sure there is no open ports. I may be up in Vernon next summer for the aniversery of the Cadet Camp. My youngest son attended this sumer for 2 1/2 weeks for training. I have a buddy with some vintage (WWII) militarty jeeps and he may have me drive one up there for him for the 60th Aniversery so it is likely my son will return for more training also Best of Luck Ride Safe:canada::canada:
  22. I love the new pegs I got for fathers day... I am using the #800 peg with the hardware to mount to the engine bars on my '86. They look awsome with all the chrome and are way comfortable to use on all my rides, long and short. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3262 :canada:
  23. a buddy of my brothers has proven the hard wired whistle does work..... but..... what he did was watched for the family of deer that enjoy eating his garden to show up one evenning then hooked up the whistle and sure enough no more deer. He has left this unit hooked up for days in his yard and his garden is doing very well now.... no deer. so this proves that the deer will scatter when they hear the whistle.... the problem with being a rider is.... you never know what way they will scatter... I am sure it will scare them.... but what do you want a slow moving happy grazing deer to deal with or a scared freaked out running away deer.....
  24. I totally agree with the idea of keeping info with you to help if "IT" ever happens. My son rides a bicycle alot.... as in 100s of miles per year for pleasure and compition. "IT" could happen to him also..... this is what we are doing for him.... it is called "road ID"..... it can work for those of us that ride something with a few more horses..... check it out.... http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx?referrer=4186
  25. Why not make it a truely international event....... Check it out, access directly from the USA by two differnt ferry systems also a Canadian ferry system, and just simpy a fantastic tourisim spot...... http://www.tourismvictoria.com/
