  1. I like it too! Looks sharp.
  2. I may have.....it will be a good deal too. But I gotta check the shop in day light. The savings I received from the purchase of my new to me bike will be passed on to fellow ventureriders if possible!
  3. Well Tom.....my supposed waterproof magellan crossover isnt waterproof at all. But it still works after the monsoons we drove through coming home from Ontario. I use a sandwhich bag to cover my sat radio if it rains.....this should work for the gps as well. Put it on and have a hair elastic to close the bottom....normal rubber bands rot in the sun quickly so the hair band lasts longer.
  4. Brad...we are so glad to hear you guys werent hurt worse! Fog is nasty....ticket to pay etc......if your insurance is like here you could have been backing up and still get nailed for going to fast! Take care of the bumps and bruises!
  5. Our thoughts are with you and his family Reiny. Sad to hear at any time....a little more so this time of year.
  6. Spend the little bit of extra cash and get a ram mount system. They are the best and most versitile in my opinion. Well worth the 40 or so bucks. It wont sit right on the shield and like Bob says....falls off. A car or truck is much smoother than a bike and if it falls off on a car it doesnt go far....
  7. Don Did you see this zumo 450 on Amazon? [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MF7L46/ref=s9sdps_c2_23_at1-rfc_g1_si3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0BE3X6D6CFQ0TG7B75V6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463383391&pf_rd_i=507846]Amazon.com: GARMIN Zumo 450 3.5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator: Electronics[/ame] Cheapest I've ever seen, even though its only a 450.
  8. Merry Christmas to one and all! Now for the good stuff....... got to spend our day home with the family.....soon heading out to the in-laws to share the rest of the day and tomorrow with them. Great time of year....we can actually all be together! The less important material things.... Wagner Grill for my midnight....funniest thing is the new bike I bought already has one!!! More to follow on that...I must make a descision..... Passing lights for the new bike....Micheal....the ones you put on will remain where they are and will be used but this item of safety chrome is a must according to Marilyn! Very nice hand made wooden motorcycle engine from BigBob...it will hang proudly on our livingroom wall! A nice star calender from Boo...I count this as a Christmas gift Boo...thanks! Timmies t-shirt signing motorcycle santa! sweat pants etc! Hope you all are doing well!
  9. Thanks Craig! We are doing just that...hanging out together watching movies and such. Close to bed time. All the best to everyone here. Its tough to answer all the Merry Christmases that are posted.
  10. The guys and gals all have great ideas. One thing I am going to try my hardest to remember is to concentrate on the journey and not the destination. I have found myself destination driven a lot and have missed some neat things along the way. If you can, give yourself enough time to stop and smell the flowers....even if they are danielions! One really nice day we just stopped at a rest stop....layed on the grass and let the sun soak in and had a nap.....it was great.
  11. I was just thinking of how much of a mess thats gonna be when it melts! When I lived there it snowed a couple of times and basically shut down the city. And when it melts.....with the amount of snow you've had....take a canoe with you!
  12. For the first time in 20 years at the jail, we both have Christmas off together without having to actually take the time off! (just the way shift work worked out this year) We are going to Marilyn's folks place around noon on the 25th. Eat way too much and generally enjoy the family thing. A very Merry Christmas to you all and be careful out there.
  13. I am actually hoping for snow!!!! Cause that means its gonna warm up a little from this deep freeze we are currently in! Dang its cold!
  14. Good on them! Thats gotta be a venture rider right there for sure! Taking care of each other in times of need or even if not needed. As he said "good luck with your repairs"
  15. Err.....shopped for what??? Did I miss something? Wait a minute...what time of year is this!!! Roh roh......oh wait ....its only the 21st! Lots of time left!
  16. I think many will agree with somewhere around 5 lbs or so under the max pressure listed on the tire sidwall.
  17. Its a nice bike Michael...but ya dont need another one already do you? Oh...and Dan is a great guy and takes pretty good care of his bikes.
  18. I was number 100 in the first run and now am 135...like Don says just put the curser on your name and your number will show up at the bottom of the page.

    Weather

Woke up to -29C but the good news is there is little wind...its the wind that really makes things miserable in my mind. Got to -45 with the wind last night...thats just nasty!
  20. Wow...what a journey! I laughed at your story just a little as I cringed each time you fell over. Rotten luck and it sounds like you need some time off to patch things up a little before the next long run. Nice that you werent hurt or anything and the bike is still useable...sort of. Nice pics and thanks for sharing your story.
  21. Wow...keep it! There are more yammi goodies on that thing than I've seen in a long time...and very hard to get I might add! Thats a beautiful bike..congrats on a good deal and it is a shame that the thing let go and dumper her on ya.
  22. Nope unless its older than 15 years. There is no duty just the taxes and cost of the RIV. It does sound daunting but its not so bad. And dont try and smuggle it either! You wont be able to register it then.
  23. For a trailer he needs the certificate of origin or manufacture that includes the VIN. He should also need a bill of sale that includes the VIN. The trailer should also have a VIN and a compliance label on it which lists the GVW and tire sizes and capacities. He has to stop at the Canadian side and take all his paperwork in to them. He will pay GST (goods and services tax)...no getting around that. He also enters what is called the registry of import vehicle program and this costs 204 dollars. Once the paperwork is completed at the border he can take it home and wait for a letter from RIV. Then he takes the trailer to the nearest Canadian Tire and they will inspect it and fill out a form that they will send off to RIV. He will get a some paperwork he needs to take to his motorvehicle branch to register it. He will likely also have to pay PST when registering it. Thats provincial tax....I cant speak on Ontario's rules though but thats what I had to do here for both my trailers and the bikes I bought south. Normally for a MV we must stop at the US side to clear the title over and out of the US but here at least they dont care about trailers just motor vehicles. Sound complicated? Sort of but its really not that bad.
  24. Correcto mundo!
  25. Yeppers we made it back finally! What a journey and before I go on...I need to apologize to all those in the south for bringing the crappy weather with us! Man that was nasty! I wanted to drive the bike a couple tank fulls to get the seat broke into my big butt.....but that was not to be. It took all I had to drive it around the block just to make sure it worked and I could say I drove in Ar.! Really I just wanted to say I drove in Ar! The bike is beautiful and even better than pics show. Great folks Michael and Teri! Treated us to supper before we left and even invited us to spend the night. Alas we couldnt as we had tracks to make to beat the storms....snow and stuff! Actually the roads were good but it was windy and rainy. The bike was coated with a six and half inch layer of salt which we washed off as soon as we got to town! Ok...maybe it wasnt that thick! Thanks again Michael and Teri and we will see you guys in August! Oh...and I know what he's looking at for a bike and knowing him the brief time I have.....he's probably already dealt on it!
