Rick I sure wouldnt put that new baby in the back of the truck! I have brought bikes back in a trailer that I have ...begged....borrowed...or stolen! I sure felt better doing it that way. I noticed a boat trailer in the background with your old bike....could you rig something with this? Lay down some plywood for a ramp and away you go?

Did you take it for a ride yet Rick? If its a whiner that will be showing soon. That is not a bad price for Canada. For the warranty...it started the day they put it into service....you've got to consider that as well. Wait till spring and sell your 87...you should get a good price.

Something I want to do when we both retire. I woulnt be surprised to see Lowell running tail gunner with you!

87 VR Bike Cover
sarges46 replied to Ga Dawg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To get a Yamaha one in good shape would be tough. I have bought two from ebay and they are good quality at very reasonable prices. Just go to the bottom of the page here to access ebay...if you purchase through this link I think Don gets a kickback to help support our site. -
Sidestand/neutral safety switch
sarges46 replied to rcbufalino's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sorry Dog but it should run while in neutral with the kickstand down. Give that switch a cleaning treatment of some sort to start I guess and check the wires to it to make sure they arent shorting or something. -

There is also a fix for the error codes that may spring up. It's in the 1st gen tech library and easy to do.

I have finally completed viewing the video...actually twice. The biggest thing I learned or relearned was the slow speed stuff. I have lots to practise next spring for sure! Also that was a great tip for picking the bike up using soft ties tied to the lowest part of the bike possible. Practise the friction zone and lean limit. It is amazing watching those folks toss around those bikes like toys!

I think it was -6 Celsius...dont ask what that is in real temp! The date was December 8. Cold clear day and drove it out to the country for storage in a buddy's shop.

Sadly, for us its not close enough together! We would have loved to do both since we will be in the "area", so to speak, for the International. But then again...maybe its doable...who knows what next year brings....

Around 7500 miles. Not near enough as these were done on longer trips. If it was just local stuff I would have to say only about 2000 miles if I'm lucky. I dont take my bike to work and thats a big factor.....working for corrections and parking at the jail just makes me nervous as all get out with the bike. That and having two-three kids at home makes me cage it alot more as we just dont all fit on the bike! Marilyn has quit a few more miles this year but she rides hers to work almost every day. It doesnt bother her to park there like it does me (shes at the jail too).

We are pretty much done here now. Maybe one or two more days then shut her down until April at least.

Trailer relay! It worked for me. Folks around this site live for this type of thing. You just have to have the time to wait till it gets there is all. Also it can be shipped by any car/bike shipper. That item should be under 1000 bucks.

Good to hear from you Sherry. I truly wanted to buy your bike but.....what I would have done is then sell it here for a huge profit and that didnt sit well with me. Believe it, it would have been worth it for me to drive all that way and bring them back. Sounds like your hands are full and you are as busy as a one armed juggler eating supper! Take care.

OK.....I have a set here that I bought for my first gen. Then sold the bike and trailer this spring. Noddy, a member ended up with the trailer and hitch and armrests. They sit at my place cause he doesnt really want them. I will confirm with him if I can sell them for him and what he wants. These are the old diamondr ones...still in good shape and will work great for mamma.

Just like "crack", "meth" or Lonna's cheese cake...after that first bite.....you are hooked for good!

Thats a fair price....you would spend alot more getting a new set-up with what this one has on it. I have a camper already, so I cant be of help in that regard!

Question on turn signal
sarges46 replied to kantornado's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hi Ron! Can you hear the blinker working? I truly dont know if they make the same noise that a car one does but I had to ask. Second...is it possible you managed to put the bulb in wrong? Its a 1157 isnt it? I know I have done that on my trailer and the bulb will light up and still have no blinker action. -
Nice bike Lou. I think you will like it just a little. Cant wait to see it at the Hub next year. Man oh man, mamma yamma better pay attention pretty soon. They are loosing more and more riders because of their refusal to get modern. Every other make is now with the times for the most part and yammi changes its colors only. Its a shame. More people will lose their need and love for the v4 over the other stuff other makers have. ABS, CD, Fuel Injection to name three.

Didnt know ya left! And he's not getting old and decrepid......he already was decrepid! Now just old! You got that new bike chromed up yet Brad?
-
Good to see you checking in Strat! All work and no play....

Glad things are better Steve. I will also one day be blessed with one of your grills.

That really sucks doesnt it! I hope your body heals the way it should and you feel better soon! That truck is very nice! And, you cant get fired from the site because of what you ride. Now, if you were to take up naked belly dancing at the rallies and scaring the biker Mom's then people might not tell you were the next rally is! Look at BlackOwl.....he didnt ride anything for a couple years and we kept him. Well, maybe its because we used him and his venture ranger to haul stuff....but....dont tell him that! Take care Rich and enjoy the new ride!
