  1. I must be on a roll this week!! I woke up sunday to a flat on the car then later in the day was going to take my daughter for a ride on the bike so I have idoling as I move cars around and it decides to roll and fall over scratching my new pearl white paint job and braking the mounts on the lower cowling. So I have the broken parts fixed now and gonna fix the rest next week but I was ridding it today on the interstate and got to my moms and was looking in the trunk when I noticed one of the ants are gone just my luck!! Now to find one of those oh joy!!
  2. Ok, I have a problem. I go out today to go for a ride. Turn the ignition on, press the starter button, and nothing happens. The starter won't even click. When I rode last week, it was fine. I ended up working 70 hours this week and today was the first time i've been able to take it out. So, can someone tell me how to determine what the problem is. If it's the starter button itself or something between there and the starter. I thought the battery so I charged it up and still nothing. Thanks guys for the help.

    Time off?

Who has some unused sick or vacation days next week? I am taking the week off, and the weather is meant to be awesome all week. I am thinking of riding down to the dragon via Skyline drive and the parkway. This is not set in stone, but the mud is drying fast. I can either ride down 81 and go north, or start north and finish south. I need a personal breather for a few days, and the wife is cool with it. Call it a mental week. LOL I could like to camp may way down, but I am not opposed to a hotel either.
  4. We are back from our trip down south (for the Ulysses Club rally and AGM.) First week we spent setting up the gearshop, and second week we spent 9-5 selling the merchandise! All went well--sold $12,000 on first day, and same again on second one. Weather really hot during the week and the leg swelled badly. That wasn't the worst of it though 'cause I got sick starting in the first week!!!!! Diagnosed with (wait for it) ADULT WHOOPING COUGH have damn near coughed myself inside out Dr. said it's also called the "100 day cough" Oh, goody Geez, I would just like to deal with one thing at a time!! Hope everyone is doing okay over there, did I miss anything exciting????????
  5. Got the bikes out of storage saturday, great day, sunny and 50s. Brought them home and started checking them over and found CRACKS in the sidewall of my rear tire. :confused24:This is the second time. I had the rear tire replaced last spring for the same problem. Took it down to the dealer and showed them. They took pics, said the Avon rep would be in later this week and they'd get it taken care of. Tire only has 6,400 miles on it. The front one has 10,000 on it and looks great. It's an Avon 130. Looks like it could go another 8000-10000 easy. The tire was made the 5th week of 08. There was no problem with it last summer or fall, looked good before putting the bikes away. Must be something with the cold? The tires on my wife's bike look just fine too and it was sitting right next to mine.
  6. This summer, during last part of June or Early July, my wife and I are considering trailering the bike to Colorado, staying in a cabin or condo, and riding around to see stuff. We are looking at the areas around Estes Park/Rocky Mt Nat Park/Boulder for places to stay for a week or so. Anyone know of good reasonably priced places to stay and things to do? We are recent empty nesters and are looking forward to just the two of us. The boys and I can go some other time. Iowa Guy
  7. I had surgery on my toe today. I had an ingrown toenail on both sides of the toe so i went in and the doctor killed the sides and clipped the nail. Then the nail grew out AND DOWN!!! So i went back in and he clipped it again. Same result, except this time i tried to let nature heal itself and the nail was really close to breaking on through to the other side (mind the doors referance). Well the doctor said that it was so infected that I'm lucky it didn't infect the bone, and he said that it was so deep he couldn't believe that i dealt with that much pain. He also didn't believe me that my toe wasn't numb, and he gave me 8 shots. My toe was swollen at least twice the normal level and he said he couldn't get anymore numbing agent in. It hurt quite a bit! Doctor said i can be riding again in a week BUT according to the weather, i wont be for at least awhile longer. My nail wont be growing back anytime soon, and hopefully not at all. I went in there with him thinking i was a wuss, and left with him saying i had one of the worst ingrown he'd ever seen. And he's a foot specialist!
  8. Just got off the phone with Hannigan and set the date to trike the RSV! Drop it off Monday March 29th and pick it up April 2nd. We are going to spend the week down there and sightsee for the week. Any members around there? We are also thinking of spending a couple of days in Nashville...
  9. I talked with them yesterday, it seems there was a delay in the order because the factory only runs these big ones so often. 25 should be ready next week.
  10. Well, I'm waiting on another valve cover gasket for the '89, so it won't be here til later in the week. Yesterday was such a pretty day, 70s and sunny. Didn't want to waste it sitting inside, so...
  11. Yeah, I know a little late, but Mechanic has been down the a cold or something, same thing I had last week, finally got around to loading the pics. 12. Spoke with JRichard today about doing something during Bike Week. Since I no longer have weekends off I mentioned that ill most likely be down there on the 2nd (tue) or the 3rd (wed). No official plans are set but most likely we will get together at US-1 Restaurant in South Daytona for lunch. Dont know what everyone elses plans are but thats where ill be. Kinda sucks giving up weekends but hey, its a job........We have been meeting there for years. Kind of like an old shirt...... Hope to see some of yous there....
  13. I now have 2 Ventures. I will be picking up my 2nd Gen(Sorry Yammer) next Week from Buddy. Yes, I am excited!:cool10::cool10: http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/DSCN4500.jpg
  14. With all the intelligent people on here who posted insatallation instructions, I thank you. I feel confident to take this project on. The advise I need is Halogen or sealed beam. What is the major difference. Also, I plan on running a fuse box. If I do this, should I still use a relay. I received a gift card for christmas and plan on getting them this week, but I want to check the prices at the bike show first. Thanks to everyone who contributes and saves me money at the stealership.

Where is everybody. I checked in 3 or 4 times in the last week or so. Nobody is there. Is it my deodorant, or maybe i have something stuck in my teeth.
  16. 0 here again, heats on in the garage, if i can't ride, i can still work on them. there is a warming trend in sight. maybe 30 degrees this week. i hate this global warming. maybe al gores hot air could heat my garage.

    2010

Has anyone seen a 2010 venture at a dealer or bike show. I got a Star catalog at the dealer last week and Black with flames is starting to look better.
  18. We just got back from a week in Colorado. What a great ride. The weather was perfect for the whole week except the 1st day, which was ok, since we were acclimating to the 10,500 elevation of the condo that day anyway. One note, our Ventures run great in the mountains. I was riding with a couple of new Harleys, one 08 & one 09, I could climb Loveland Pass at 65 mph, 2up with the cruise on and the harley guys were wondering why I was running so hard! Here are a few pics.
  19. http://gajitz.com/lean-mean-safer-motorcycle-takes-turns-at-an-angle/ Yes, not working this week.
  20. well, just started my 1300 v-star and ran it on fast idle for 25 minutes, only 3 more to go, since i don't believe in winterizing, i try to run them all at least once a week. we had a light snow, and there is still ice patches on the road. may be able to ride the other 3 later in the day. just a tip, if you do start them up, run them till the crankcase feels good and warm. this will get rid of all the condensation in the engine and mufflers, and coat the innards with oil. winterizing is the worst thing you can do for the internals of the engine and transmission. i have had bike motors apart that sat a few weeks in extreme temperature changes and the cylinders and gears had a light haze of rust due to condensation. if you don't run the motor at least keep it in a heated area. i keep my zx-14 in my shop all winter, and still run it every few weeks. i also keep battery tenders on all of them. if the battery is allowed to go dead and sit it will sulfate and ruin it. best thing you can do is dress warm and ride them at least 25 miles every week all winter if the streets are clear. make sure the crankcase gets good and warm, or you will do more harm than good.
  21. Not completely gone, but limited access. Will check in when I can. I have to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow and then drive to the company resort near Hayward, WI for our semi-annual sales meeting. They do have WIFI there but only in the lodge, not in the cabins so I can only check in quickly once or twice a day. Will be returning very late Friday night. Hope you all have a great week and remember me while I am there getting my semi-annual attitude adjustment.
  22. Here's "dottie" in all her splendor waiting to go on the Toy Run for the kid's. Will be leaving most of it on as have the B.A.C.A. one next week
  23. I just received my Cortech leather jacket from New Enough. These guys are a class act. I ordered a large size which turned out to be too small. I returned the jacket and re-order an X large. I returned the large, got the shipment and my credit for the return all within one week. These folks kept me posted via e-mail all week so I knen when they shipped the orginal, re-shiped the correct, when they received the return and when my credit card was creited. WOW---Great service and the Jacket is really nice.
  24.
