  1. Has anyone tried or knows if diaphrams SD1 & SD10 are identical or interchangeable? read thru all posts in search and couldn't find a definative answer before I order a set. Edited to add, I can get an SD10 set now, whereas the SD1 is on back order.
  2. Please help me, I am trying to understand how this works. The dampner for the shock for two people up and we weigh together about 400lbs. What do I set it on ? 1-4 , and what to set compressor?
  3. I'm wondering what kind of brake pads I should get... I mean EBC is great, but incredibly pricy for a whole darn set. Found this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-Kevlar/dp/B007RGQHIO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1343848229&sr=8-12&keywords=Venture+Royale+Brake+Pads]Amazon.com: 1986-1993 Yamaha XVZ 13 D Venture Royale Kevlar Carbon Front & Rear Brake Pads: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nJImUwFVL.@@AMEPARAM@@51nJImUwFVL[/ame] Don't know if they're good tho. Ebay also has that set too.
  4. Anytime I try to respond to anything on Craigs List or other things, my computer automatically goes to Windows Live Mail and I have never set it up and don't even know how to get into it. I use Comcast mail and Yahoo. I need to either set it up or change it to go to an account I now use. Any suggestions? If giving suggestions, please make it basic. I am somewhat computer challenged. Thanks, RandyA
  5. I'm going over my 87 Standard, trying to resolve this miss that the ol' gal acquired. While I'm at it, I'm changing the carb diaphragms, which has needed done for a while, small holes in the first two I changed out. (A much easier job than I thought it'd be) I got a set of replacement spark plug wires, and a set of used coils on the way just in case I need one. The coils don't seem easily accessible, and I'll need to get at them to replace the wires, and I'd like to check the coils themselves while I'm at it. Do I need to remove the entire fairing, or can I get at them by removing the battery or what? I'm sure if I do a search I'll find the checkout procedure for the coils, but if anyone knows the quick and dirty on that, please lemme know. I'll also take a look at the plug for the TCI that I've seen mentioned so much. Any info on not making more of a job of this than need be would be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Went on a 50 mile ride with the wife today. I set the front at 7lbs (I have progressives) and 42 in the rear. On the highway, which was pretty bumpy, it felt like the rear shock was bottoming out. I have the damper set normally at position 3. Now the bags are on but basically empty. The wife & I weigh a total of 345 Lbs and I had a 1/2 a tank of gas. The system is holding pressure & not leaking. On flat ground I don't feel an issue only when I hit bumps & not massive potholes either. So is this a normal feel? Even though the shock has air could it be worn out? The bike oly has 15K miles
  7. If their are any members who may arrive early for the rally and would like to help set up , please feel free to come down to Pioneer on saturday and offer a hand..The rally committee will be there at noon...Many hands make a BIG job a small chore....
  8. I am in the process of re-foaming my wife's seat. I know that Butler does it reasonable butt I need it done asap and don't have the down time. I have cut in the bottom foam and set in a gel pad. The top foam is some lite density foam, has anyone tried memory foam to replace the topper??
  9. Being that I do not think I'll be able to find a set of those nice highly polished cylinder side covers that were on the rear set of cylinders on my 91 VR (Took them off my 89 Front Cylinders). Is there any one with the skill and equipment be willing to provide an insurance estimate for me. Thank You
  10. Has anyone in the last couple of years purchased a set of Markland Hiway Floorboards for an MKII on ebay? If so could you tell me what you paid for them. I need some reasonable price comparions for an insurance claim.
  11. Hello: I recently purchased a wireless Tire Pressure / Temperature Monitoring System for my '07 RSV which allows me to set alarms for low and high tire pressures and high internal temperature on each tire. I can set the pressure limits easily enough, but I don't know what the normal internal operating temperatures are for the front and rear tires. Does anyone have any information in this regard? I've searched the Internet but nothing of value pops up. Thanks in advance for any assistance provided. Eric S. "alta55rsv"
  12. Have the quick saddlebag fasteners gone the way of the dodo? I cant find them on ebay OR in the classified on this website. I've seen them for years and never bothered to order a set...and thought, well I'd like a set, but now I cant find them. Just my luck.
  13. Does anyone have a picture of a stock muffler that has been cut open.I am confused about where to cut them. I have a set someone gave me,I don't want to mess my quite pipes up.
  14. I decided to install a set of rear speakers on the 1986. Several tears ago I ripped out the cassette player guts and had wired the XM from my Garmin into the cassette input. Which worked very well. However the co-pilot did not have good volume since there are only 2 speakers. I purchased a Shark Audio kit with a wired on/off and volume remote and set about revamping the system. Tapped the front speakers and installed a line level converter. Sent that to the amplifier and on to the rear speakers. Consolidated my fm radio/xm input switch to one small 3 pole unit. Stuffed the entire mess into the metal cassette player shel and made a top for it. I still need a grommet for the remote wire. Also the yellow around the edge is grease. I put RTV on the plate and then greased the cassette box. Hopefully this will create a gasket that stays on the plate and is re-useable. I then picked up switched power and adjusted the line-level converter. It has potentiometers to set the input level. Right now I have it where 1/2 volume on the rear speakers sounds about equal to the radio at 1/2 volume. Trying not to rob too much from the front output. I am satisfied with the appearance and the sound. It is really very good! Total cost for the project was about $100.00. Don't believe the 100 watts! That has to be peak at full volume! I suspect about 15-20 RMS. JB
  15. I'm thinking of recovering the seat , back rest and passenger backrest and arm rest on my 91 royale. i was wandering as I've tried to use the search mode and cant find an answer. 16. Okay, so I'm wanting a new set of pipes on my bike. Would prefer to go with a full set and not just mufflers. I want something quiet but with a bit throatier of a sound. I could have sworn my last RSTD had Hard Kromes, however after looking at their site, they do not have a specially fitted one for an RSTD. Any suggestions on what I should go with? I have a 2006. Thank you for any advice. Flash
  17. Anyone know if you can buy the Carb Needle set for the XVZ1200 Venture Royal 1984 model. I've got the original set of carbs which need to be reconditioned, always nice to have a spare set.
  18. So Im replacing my swing arm shock mount on my 1990 I couldnt find a 90+ but I bought one from an 86 . I know there are differences with no zerk fittings on 86 but the shock mount is definitely different. The 90 has two set of bolt near the shock mount the 86 has one. Does anyone know if this will work?
  19. Hello everyone. Due to a major accident in April of 2011 I can no longer ride. I am very thankful that I am pretty much back to normal, which is being generous for me, but riding a motorcycle is out of the question for me. It has taken me this long to get to the point that I can even tell my story. It sure stinks, but it is life. While trying to slow down for a curve I got off the road. The ground was soft and the bike stopped, but i didn't. I went off the front of the bike and dug a trench in the ground with my brand new Arai helmet. I firmly believe it was that helmet that prevented some serious brain damage. After a 3 week stay in Vanderbilt hospital and 3 months at home, I was able to return to work driving a towboat on the Mississippi River. As I said, I am truly blessed. Due to this accident I have gotten rid of what was left of the bike and am in the process of disposing of other things. The first and most important is a trialer that I won from Venture Riders two years ago. I have listed the trailer in the Classified section. It is with a very heavy heart that I do this, but it needs to be used. It is a shame to allow it to set and not be utilized. My thanks to everyone for allowing me to tell my story in here. I pray that every one of y'all have a wonderful and very safe ride every time you set out. Steve Stewart
  20. I am tooling up to make a set of delrin motor mounts for myself, wonder if any one else here would be interested in delrin mounts for $40 delivered in con US? Full set, 6 pieces, machined to the drawings that have been floating around here for a while. I can also make these from aluminum, probably 6061, maybe even have them anodized to stop the galvonic corrosion. There would need be a decent demand for this, as the anodizing would cost me $100.00 if I did one set or 25 sets. Bare aluminum would be same price as Delrin, adding anodizing would raise cost some
  21. I just scored a set of Ball milled motor mounts. Sounds great right! They don't have the collars with the set screw. Can I:confused24: use one from the hardware store or is this something special?
  22. In the two years I've been a Venture MKII owner, I have not ever seen a set of these every for sale anywhere. Infact I think I've only seen them on 3 Ventures so far. So before I investigate the process to maufacture these, it would be helpful to know how many MKII owners would really be interested in a set. I've already collected some data on the dimensions. So if you are interested please post here. I will assume 1 set unless you specify more than 1.
  23. Well, I just received our Scala Rider G9 Bluetooth PowerSet. I've got a bit to learn about it, and rig my wife's helmet so we can check out the Intercom function, but I did Bluetooth my G9 to my Blackberry Torch and listened to Pandora radio on a 30 min ride. So far I'm impressed. The sound quality is pretty darn good, even at speed. I even had to turn down the volume on a song or two, but then also had to turn up the volume (It's a Pandora thing). SOOOOOOoooo much better than my Chatterbox wired set. So, initial thoughts are: worth the cost. I'll give more thoughts as I continue to set our intercom up and we take a trip together.
  24. I bought a set of these large pliers from Harbor Freight. I can not believe how many times they have come in handy in such a short time. Today I was trying to tighten a hose clamp that the screw was in a position that I couldn't get a small open end or screw driver to it. The long needle nose work well in loosening the clamp so I could spin it and re-tighten it. They also work really well on the oil breather line under the air box on a 1st Gen. I recommend a set of these for every tool box.
  25. So, I just broke one of my eyebrows and im looking for another one, or a set if you have it. I cracked it while trying to remove one of them. Never work on the bike when your in an agitated state...........
