1. just wanted to say that yamaha of camp hill, pa., did me right yesterday....i've decided to try the "I" basket and went to their dealership to discuss it....initially, he said he didn't know anything about it but when i showed him posts on this web site about the "whine"..he called yamaha , they told him it was a legit complaint ....so the part is ordered , no questions asked.....
2. hello . i have a friend who owns a motorcycle shop. he has a 84 venture sitting there just like mine. well he worked on it durring the winter. i didnt know he did this or i would have had mine in there. but anyways back to the question on hand. after working on it . he has had it for over 5 months and so far the owner has not called or made any contact with him when he called the phone number its no longer in service? we rode over to the address where the man was suppose to live. and he has been taken to prison. for over 15 years? my friend said he would like to get this out of his shop. i offerd him the cost of the work and parts he done on the bike. plus what it might take to get a title.? i offten heard about something called a mechanics lean/ but cant that get you a title? this bike runs well. looks crappy. but for around $360.00 for the work he done. and what a title might cost it could be well worth it?.
3. Some one here has a sense of humour... I rec'd a package an hour ago.... Apparently someone here..... or..... maybe not ......called The Harley shop and bought me a Harley jacket for me Black with orange Stripe I called The shop all they can say that it was from the States :rotfl: I'll take some picture later
4. What's with the so called Passing lights ....99% of the time I see them on all the time, ????
5. Tejas Motorsports, a local Yamaha dealer, just called me and offered me $1000 for my '06 RSTD. They said they were experiencing great demand for used bikes, and wanted mine. I think what they were saying is that they were offering $1000 over the bluebook or trade-in value. I wasn't selling, so I didn't seek much clarification. When I said no thank you, I was offered a free fuel treatment on my next service. Thanks but.... The last question was whether I would be buying a new bike in the next 12 months. No. Seems pretty aggressive to cold call past customers like this. (They've mounted tires for me.) Would any of you take that offer? Dave
6. Am looking at some mesh pants with liners for the coming season. Have looked pretty close at the TM Flex and they look good as well as the Fieldsheer. I got wind of a company called Sixth Gear and they have a mesh pant called Stinger. Looks good on line and about half the price of the TM. Anyone had any experience with these? Thanks for the input. Norm
7. I post this for two reasons: one to let you all know about Presidents Choice Financial Insurance and two in hopes you spread the word far and wide. I had a car accident 4 years ago while turning right on a corner, a woman came from the LEFT side of me, turned right also, right into the left side of my car. Unfortunately, the donut-eater was more involved in the witnesses cleavage than the damage to my vehicle and the case was originally deemed BOTH at fault. So I went to court (cost me 3 days pay with their remands and other BS) but the judge saw the truth and I was deemed 100% fault free and the fault was placed on the other driver. I called back to make sure my insurance was corrected and was told I'd have to get the transcript of the trail and send it to the Adjusters who would deem at fault. I paid the $60 for the copy and sent it off, verified weeks later that things were corrected and was told they were. Years go by and PCF Insurance has now scewed around enough people that they decide they had better get in the brokerage business instead, so I get my new premiums and they are up 32%!! I was stunned. I call back to ask why and I am told "Thats the best rate we can do for you" I shop around and find it for the same price I'm paying now (which is supposed to be discounted 35%!!) and make the move over. While in a conference call with the new company and PCF it comes to light that I am still being charged at fault for the accident, but it also states third party liable.... can't be both! So I start to try and get this fixed. Through PCF and Crawford Adjusters and Aviva Underwriters they have me running around between approx. 10 different people all with different ways to try and run you around. Finally, I get a lady on the phone who admits to the new company it is not my fault, so I can get the new rate and leave PCF. But, in the process of trying to get things fixed I found out a little insurance tidbit: IF YOU PAY YOUR DEDUCTIBLE, YOU ARE DEEMED TO BE TAKING PARTIAL FAULT FOR THE ACCIDENT. This reminded me that I never did get back my $500 deductible, so on I fought. Then, about two weeks ago I receive, from a buddy, a funny email called "Wii for Women" with some quite graphic scenes at the end of it. But, lo and behold, he had just forwarded this on from his source, who had also forwarded it on with .... the FULL CORPORATE signature of one of the head lady adjusters from Aviva. (How stupid can some people be with email, just boggles the mind!) Naturally, I was quite happy to send that on far and wide to every living thing I could find. Oh, and THEN and I called and left a message telling her she should be more careful with her email, and PERHAPS IF SHE SPENT A LITTLE LESS TIME EMAILING PORN ON A COMPANY COMPUTER SHE'D HAVE MORE TIME TO SOLVE CLIENTS PROBLEMS. Don't play with Scorpios, they're a spiteful bunch. I am happy to say I got the cheque in the mail for the $500 last week. Coincidence??? I think not! But ..... I was looking at my banking last night, even though I had verbally cancelled 3 times, sent in a written cancellation a month ago which they admit receiving, they still went and took out the money from my account and are now saying "Whoops, sorry, we'll get that money right back to you, should be no more than 3 WEEKS." It never ends! PLEASE .... warn all your friends and family to avoid these shylocks, don't get yourself into this STRESS MESS like me. But ... if you happen to come across a forwarded email called Wii for Women.... feel free to send that sucker to Timbuktu and back!
8. I didnt know where else to turn but i have a need to exspress myself and thought you my exstended family would lend me an ear. for those of you who dont know me My name is Ron and have been a memeber here for almost a year and have had alot of fun here and have made some friends forever and hope tomake more. im also the guy who will chime in with something silly to say on no matter what the subject but today i have cried like i have never cried before yesterday (wedsday dec.23) i lost a friend and a co-worker to heart failure early in the day he had just retired last month and hadnt even collected his first check yet Jim was a geat man and friend he spent the majority of his life caring for his mother and she passed in early sptember. we all grieved with Jim for the loss of his mother but he was strong and carried on. Jim finially had found the right lady for him and seemed happy and excited and then was takn from us on that day. that made the office a quiet place to work and if you think your day couldnt get any worse it did i work for CSX railroad in cincinnati, ohio and another friend Paul who is the car inspector and had a history of heart trouble came to work with us as always and as he was running the brakes on or last train of the day we waited to hear those finial words from him " you have a high ball on the air" which means your" brakes are set and there ok" then we were to start our christmas party. i watched him drive passed the office and never heard from him i called and called on the radio with no ansewer. i jumped in my truck to g laugh at him for forgetting to turn his radio on to find him layed across the seatof his truck. i called 911 started CPR and lost a second friend on the same day. i think to myself if i could have gotton there faster or shocked him sooner i would have my friend with me now.... i know in my heart of hearts this is not my fault the good lord has plans for us all and he knows when its our turn to join him but cant help but to feel like im being punished for something i did why would 2 of my friends be taken from me on the same day????? i know better than to question this but cant help myself. im sorry for being so sad on here the day before christmas but i think my friends here will understand. thanks for your ear and i hope at least you and yours will have a good christmas.. Ron p.s. Please remembe to tell everyone you love them today and everyday you dont know when the last chance to say it will be.
9. Well spent a couple nights searching craigslist in Raleigh,Durham area to find my daughter a decent car. I know alot of people might say tuff it out, your on your own or whatever for making such a dumb mistake, ( no comp on insur. policy) but she's still my lil girl. She was just promoted at work and life seems to be going good for her so I couldnt stand by and let this jeopardize her good job. Well I think we found her a good one, found a 2000 Chevy Impala in about mint condition. 129k miles on it for 2850.00 Only thing wrong with it is a small ding in door from a rampid shopping cart. Has new tires, regular maintaince, fresh oil change and service, even a full tank a gas. Tranny fluid looked good and engine purred like a kitten. My daughter called me yesterday as she was driving home and she was on cloud nine. Dad, she said, I thought you were crazy when you said it would work out for the better, there was no way I could see that then. I love you and your the best parents anyone could ask for. I just smiled to myself and thanked the big guy for pulling us out of another dilimma, and thank you guys for prayers and words of encouragement. Looks like Christmas is gonna be OK after all
10. Since the better half was already gone with my truck to Utah, I spent my 50th birthday on the bike. I took off just heading nowhere on I-35 North toward Austin. I got up to Round Rock and took a left on a little windy Farm road. Ended up FM 962. It has to be one of the funnest rides that I have been on in a while. I could have called Lonestar Medic or Tom, but wanted to just get away. Beautiful weather and it just started getting cold when the sun went down. I called my wife in Utah and she cussed me out for bragging about the weather. SORRY Thats not me in the picture
11. Things to think about Long ago cursing and beating a stick on the ground was called witchcraft.......now it is called golf. Eventually you will reach a point where you will stop lying about your age and start bragging about it. The older we get the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for. Some people try to turn back their "age odometers". Not me, I want people to know why I look the way I do. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. How old would you be if you did not know how old you are? When you are dissatisfied with your current age and want to go back to your youth, just think of algebra. You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks. One of the many things people don't tell you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young. One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been. Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable. Old age is when former classmates are so grey and wrinkled and bald that they don't recognize you.
12. Annie, me and Dan received the nice package today. Thanks so much. It was really sweet of you to send it. Actually it went to Dans house and he called me up a few minutes ago. I should get to see it tomorrow.
13. Don't know any details yet, called Doctor to see if results were in yet and they called me back and told me it's OK to go on with the back surgery. Will know more tomorrow when I go see the Doctor. So back surgery is a go for Monday. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.
14. My best friend is called Big AL and I dont know Why?
15. Those of you who were at the rally know that my wife fell in love with a dog that was hanging around the hub. Some here had posted that there would be a new VentureRider mascot. Well...Eileen just can't stand it any longer so she called me today to tell me that she is leaving for Arkansas again tomorrow morning to get her. I guess we are indeed getting a dog.
16. Assuming the frame on this 86 is straight it's going back on the road. It was mint before someone ran a light...... Anyone know what this color is called? It'll need a new LH fairing.
17. I friend of mine just sent me these shots of a side car, er....bicar, ah... well whatever it's called I like the looks of it.
18. Saw a 1987 two tone brown VR in Pennsylvania today, but he didn't see me. It was your buddy Earl or Skydoc to some of you folks. And just for the record, I called him and told him about it!

20. So I think the front fork seals are weeping on my bike. When I had it up on a lift there is an accumulated dirt/goo under the right fork. Went by my dealer, they verified that it is still under warrant (that took some doing), and supposedly called Yamaha and was told that fork seals are NOT covered under the 5 year warranty. Anybody know any different?
21. got my new hitch installed on my v-star this morning, sand blaster called and my trailer frame is ready to paint. la pryor called the other night. got to get him fixed, and we will be ready to head for vogel. by the way everyone say a little prayer for la, he's going to the doc monday. i am praying that the news is good. hopefully some rest and medication will fix him up. sounds like he has what i've been fighting for the last four years. not to mention we are a couple of old farts. la said he will be at the 09 rally if he has to cage it. we got a campsite reserved at vogel. got to get some of ecks free coffee. god willing we will be there. bill ps. can't even tell that new hitch is back there. :rotf:
22. Speedometer hasn't worked for a couple of months so I tore into it this evening. The inner cable is broke. I got both ends out but it was still plugged just about where it had broke. I straightened out a close hanger but it wasn't long enough so I put the cable back in upside down so that the nipple on the end came down against the clog and then I used the close hanger to push it through and worked it back and forth until it moved freely. I doubt any stores have the cable in stock and I have the entire dash pulled apart to get the cable loose. I would like to put the cable back in before so that I don't have to tear apart again when the part arrives. I went to an auto parts store (Advance Auto Parts) to get a universal inner cable and the people never heard of them. I then went to another part store (Autozone) and after waiting for 10 minutes I told the counter guy what I wanted and he said that he had laid it out for ME when I called. I told him I hadn't called so he looked around and said he had no other ones. By now it was 8:45 and I never had time to go to another parts store before they all closed. After this long prologue the question is: has anyone ever used an after market auto universal inner cable before and if so, was there a particular model car? It's hot outside and if it wasn't for this I would be out riding. I sure don't want to wait a week or 10 days to get one from Yamaha. Anyone have any information? As usual, thanks in advance for any help, Dick
23. All of you know the Piano man Billy Joel. Well he is a well know Long Islander and musician but most dont know how much he is into Motorcycles. In Sag Harbor on Long Island there is an Art Gallery called Christys and he is currently showing 20 of his coolest Motorcycles ranging from his own companies productiions of new Harleys Retroed to look like nostalgic motorcycles right down to the rocker boxes converted to the old Panhead style. Also among them is a 1979 Wing, Several Royal Enfields, A vincent and a few Ducatis from the 70s. Great show. It is Running from June 6th to June 20th so plenty of time to see it. Here is the website to his MC company called 20th Century Cycles. http://20thcc.com/ I will post some of the pics I took later. Been trying so far for 3 days!!! LOL
24. Back in Jan while in AZ I wanted a trailer that I could use on the road for fly tying, BB Qing/ tailgating at games. Figured I could take a top lid from an aluminum motorcycle trailer, unlocked fold back 180 degree back and swing down the hinged luggage racks as strut and one would have a platform/table etc. Looked around and called Aluma in Iowa spoke with the CEO and asked him to make a proto yype. He thought the design was great and would try it and let me know. A Dean Maschof sp called back several times wanting to know specs and thought they could fit it into Alum'a products as an option. So hopefully soon we should see this as an option . Any suggestions as to usefullness etc Nevada Max
