  1. I might be one of the few people who have vents on side covers and fairings that are still intact. My question is what did Yamaha do to create some resistance on the vents to hold them in place? It seems the vents have a mind of their own. When I don't want heat, those open. When I want some cool air, those ones shut on me. Any help would be appreciated before I try to rig something up.
  2. Bliss, you won't even realize what it was like before because you won't remember.
  3. Hang on to them, when you misplace the first set you won't be without.
  4. I will give that a shot. Don't have an owners manual. Thanks!
  5. I know this is a 4 year old thread but going to wake it up again. Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass the auto volume? Maybe put a switch to toggle it off or on? Mine works but is sometimes unpredictable. 1990 VR
  6. Be seen and don't trust anyone but yourself. Words to live by.
  7. I use the Rotella in every vehicle I own. Seems to quiet the valve noise in my Hondas.
  8. Civil commentary is good. I'm proud to say I'm in a state that gives the rider the choice, and I choose to wear. What bothers me is seeing some out there make extremely bad choices.
  9. You didn't get slapped? I get slapped whenever I do that riding two-up.
  10. "Let those who ride decide". "Let those who wear opt out of paying for those who don't" I know it's not as catchy, but it should be an option. $20k worth of insurance? That's a joke! That might cover the helicopter trip and a few hours in the ER. Who supports the vegetable for the rest of their life?
  11. These ones do have the weld so unless someone else chimes in I'll assume they are Macs. I'll get a pic tomorrow when the sun is shining.
  12. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between Macs and Jardines? I bought the bike with aftermarket pipes that are just a bit too loud for my taste. I installed pipes from a Harley to take the "bark" out and can't find any identifying marks on aftermarket pipes. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I'd definitely buy a V-Rod for the stable. But then I'd still be shunned by Harley riders.
  14. Too many variables to get accurate statistics. Just remember, "You can't fix stupid".
  15. 93 Cherokee XJ, of course the Magna is better looking that's why it's in front. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/magna/th_IMG_1819.jpg
  16. I'm not familiar with the 09 model. I know the earlier models were well worth the $ if you planned on getting 250k-350k miles on them. Only issues with them were the egr causing the intake to get gummy. Gary, most any 4cyl you buy will have a timing belt. On the TDI it's a 90k mile maintenance item if I remember correctly.
  17. If you put enough miles on it, it will be worth the premium.
  18. I bought 1 ticket and matched 1 number. I'll waste a buck any day for a dream like that!
  19. I can't stand the linked brakes and plan on buying skydoc's kit when funds are available. I don't like having to use so much foot to get stopping power. I've ridden my whole life with my right hand providing the stopping power, want to keep it that way.

  21. Not my cup of tea but those are nice vehicles.
  22. I agree wholeheartedly. That's why I say "It is what the user makes it". I haven't been on mine for 3 days. I usually check it every couple days and only have family and a couple good friends. I think I have a whopping 22 friends now...lol.
