Replaced my rear pads tonight and noticed somebody has done some modifying. Bike is a 90 MKII. Rear rotor is a vented disc and not offset. Somebody has added spacers to move the caliper closer to the wheel. Has been functional up to this point but I'm concerned about my braking efficiency. The rotor only measures about 304 mm. The rotor isn't large enough to make full contact with the pads, there is 5/16" of the pad not being used. Included are pics of the worn pads, rotor and caliper spacers. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/Venture/pads.jpg http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/Venture/rotor.jpg http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/Venture/caliper.jpg

Stan, you've had this for a couple months now. Any updates on how it's working? Some of the reviews are less than stellar.

Storage Space (capacity)

Thankfully I don't own any of the above tools. I'm just really attracted to the 1800 Wing, smooth, torque, style. Just not ready to pull the trigger on that kind of money:sick:. -

Lots of great replies with some welcome humor. Was curious comparing to newer wing 1800. Looks like they are pretty darn close. -

LOL... I was hoping to avoid that. -
Does it matter which gear you're in?

At least you don't have the linked brakes. Checked mine and one side looked brand new, other side completely worn out.

Wife doesn't like crosswinds on my 90VR, never ridden a wing to compare it to.

Since you have ridden both a new gen wing and a 1st gen VR, what would be your comparison between the two? I know the wing has time on it's side but as far as ride comfort, engine smoothness, etc.? Looked at your ads, both very nice bikes. The 92 is same color as my 90.

That will make a good one for him, lots of noise without much power. Will seem scary fast for him...lol.

Would make a good starter bike. Don't worry, a 96 is just a 750 and won't do 130 mph.

Something in the muffler
Rosie1965 replied to OrlinEngh's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I went from Macs to RK mufflers and really like them. The Macs were just too much for me, the RK's have a nice rumble and sound great at 7k. -
Check this out now this is putting it all together

Figured I would post the pics, I always seem to check out the craigslist threads after the add is removed. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee436/MARKKOZAK/MVC-004S.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee436/MARKKOZAK/MVC-003S.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee436/MARKKOZAK/MVC-002S.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee436/MARKKOZAK/MVC-001S.jpg -
The best way to compete with a $25k bike is to offer a little less for a lot less$.

Not too many people can flat foot a DL-1000...Lol. I have a 32" inseam and can barely flat foot my friend's. Seat width has almost as much to do with getting your feet on the ground as height does.

Vicco, cheap way to experiment and fine tune would be tires. I'm sure with your trike you have all kinds of options. By the way, my VR runs 3500 rpm @ 65. Reason being the previous owner installed a 150/80-16 on the rear.

Now that was some good reading! Too bad I don't have anything I need to de-chrome:whistling:

Vent resistance?
Rosie1965 replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ended up trying the zip strip/cable tie method. Seems to work well, rough side against wheel provides good resistance. Have yet to try it out on road, also not sure how the nylon will hold up to engine heat. If it works, great! If it doesn't work, I'm not out any $. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x337/steve_roseman/Venture/vent.jpg -
Vent resistance?

I like the heat on a cool morning or evening. I don't like it on a hot day. I guess I'm just a wuss...lol. -
Vent resistance?

Yes the boss is there to anchor a screw but no factory parts that you speak of. I'm going to look at work today for something that might work. -
Vent resistance?

That's a good idea. Just getting something to hold them open only takes care of half the problem, need to keep shut too. -
Don't feel bad, over here the government is trying to become the charity. I'd be the guy in the middle too, paying a higher percentage of my income for my beer than the rich guy and the poor guys.
